2024 roundup: Five leagues. Four postseason appearances. Three consolation bowls. One championship game. Only non-playoff team came from a terrible preseason trade.
Also, PSA: I used to be "Night Hawks' and had 8,359 posts as "Night Hawks." So I'm no newb.
I call my fantasy football strategy "FBG+." What is FBG+?
Here it is: Use FBG rankings for the draft, adjusting based upon draft position. For instance, if you are targeting a player and REALLY like him, abandon "best player available" strategy and take him to fill that starting lineup spot with your preference. Trust me. It works. That's how I ended up with Lamar Jackson. If I had gone "best player" I would have had to hope he was available 15 picks later. Just an example. He has been my leader to the championship game ever since.
In season: Assess free agents on your own and don't hesitate. If a player pops, sign him and stash him. If he's popped two weeks in a row, sign and start if there's a lineup spot available. FBG guidance is mostly to know which players are available on a given week. Then it's up to you to pull the trigger and check if the matchup is favorable. Recovered my season from an overall 6-19 start (five leagues) when I stopped blindly following any service. Ended with an overall 43-28 record. That means I ended 37-9 after launching my own free agent strategy.
