I think we have a tendency to write guys off too quickly. Most of our team is still pre-prime so they will improve.
Its super easy to say a guy "isn't good enough" but a lot of guys make big leaps into their prime years or learn how to carry club form to country. We've seen that in the last...
The general consensus is he had his best game ever for Leeds this past weekend. He's been pretty soft when I've seen him earlier this season (I didn't watch this week) but the Leeds fans that saw this weekend commented "if he played like that even 20% of the time he'd be a fan favorite." I'd...
I don't know on Tessmann as he was good the other night but pretty meh to bad vs Australia. He hasn't really been good as a 6 and his success came further up the field.
I think people are sleeping on Morris. He was excellent last night. He definitely didn't hurt his standing. He didn't have...
This Sands Roldan pairing looks pretty bad to start. 15 minutes in and I don't think either has made a turn or progressed the ball at all. Everything is being forced outside or over the top.
On that note, it was hugely noticeable to me late that they were pinging long balls and our midfield (which I think was Roldan/Tessmann at this point) simply never got engaged to win 2nd balls. This was a fair bit of their attack at that point in the game. Boot long, US wins header, Ecuador wins...
Thought this was Tessmann's best game for the Nats by a country mile. He actually was more effective playing higher up and didn't really make much impact from a deeper role he played late. I've always thought the opposite of him (he's more effective deeper) so it was good to see.
Morris is one...
This was more like a back four from the jump with Robinson playing on the right. Under Poch we've seen a lot of structure where one FB push high and one stay at home -- especially against better opponents. We never dropped into a back 5.
Instead, Arfsten pushed high attacking but tucked into...
That's an interesting midfield. My guess is it looks an awful lot like a 433 with Weston sliding inside and Miles playing a stay at home outside back type of role.
I also think we will see Tillman tuck in on that side and play a bit of a free role so that width is really just Arfsten and Weah.
