***Chicago Bears Thread*** Ben Johnson hired. The Resurrection Begins!

There's a lot of reasons to criticize Poles, but it's mind-boggling that a 5-win team - and a team averaging 5 wins a year for all of Poles' tenure - spent its first four picks on...luxuries/developmental players? Someone posted on Reddit to be patient with Johnson and Poles as they see this as...

    QB Caleb Williams, CHI

I agree that text should always be open to interpretation, but I don't agree with your interpretation at all. Again, Dunne is literally claiming here that this moment occurred that no one saw except those in the stadium. He doesn't say he was at the game, so the reasonable assumption is that he...

The dictionary definition of "sashay" as "walk in an ostentatious yet casual manner, typically with exaggerated movements of the hips and shoulders," or "to strut and move about in a conspicuous manner." The dictionary examples in general pertain to how a woman might walk in a dress. The very...

    QB Caleb Williams, CHI

To be very specific as to the Dunne article, he wrote that Williams "sashayed" from the sideline to the huddle after a timeout, and also referred to Williams as a "glitzy gazelle." As someone with a journalism degree and with work experience as a print and broadcast journalist...this is a...

Pick 2 keepers (12 team league, .5 PPR)

Thanks. I'm planning on keeping Tracy and also Drake Maye. The cost for a QB that can run is very high in this league - with keepers taken out of the draft order, generally the running QBs are gone by the early third round. So worth a shot to hit gold with a 10th round pick I can keep indefinitely.

Pick 2 keepers (12 team league, .5 PPR)

It's a 1 QB league, normal TE scoring. The cost of a keeper is one draft round higher than the previous year. So Nico Collins costs a 6th round pick this year, Chase Brown costs an 8th round pick. 10th round is the maximum value. You "forfeit" your pick in the round that you have a keeper...

Pick 2 keepers (12 team league, .5 PPR)

12 teams, .5 PPR, 16 roster spots, no K or D. Keeper rules: draft round increases by one round each year (example: 6th round pick in '25 is a 5th round pick in '26). Can keep indefinitely through value as a 1st round pick. Any player in the 11th round or greater is a 10th round pick the next...

Things I'm Noticing while doing Projections for each Team/Player

Swift is a tough one to project, as in Ben Johnson's first year as OC with Detroit, Swift's carries decreased from 151 to 99, targets decreased from 78 to 70. However, he posted a career high of 5.5 YPC that year, albeit with a smaller sample size. With that said, the Bears last year did not...

For NFL fans against the international expansion, is there anything we can do to stop/prevent it? Or at least voice our concerns?

I think a lottery is not all that likely as a future outcome. 1. As others have noted, the rookie wage scale and volume-based incentives highly discourage players from tanking. The collective bargaining agreement would have to be re-negotiated. 2. Teams intentionally tanking would damage...

For NFL fans against the international expansion, is there anything we can do to stop/prevent it? Or at least voice our concerns?

Expansion from Canada seems like it'll never happen. Vancouver, Toronto and arguably Montreal are all too close to existing teams/markets. As a larger question, I wonder if expansion of franchises really is on the table (I don't doubt expansion of international games will continue). The...

For NFL fans against the international expansion, is there anything we can do to stop/prevent it? Or at least voice our concerns?

Even if you dislike international games, there is an easy solution the NFL will never take - more bye weeks. Rather than forcing teams to play 17 or 18 games, 3 bye weeks would create your 19 weeks of regular season football, ease international travel and help with injury recovery times.

    QB Caleb Williams, CHI

No doubt I'm glad Caleb is a Bear, but if you look back to the '23 season, I can only say his concerns (and that of his dad) were warranted. Whatever you think about Justin Fields, he cost the Bears 2 first round draft picks to acquire him. That's a lot to invest in one player! In '23, midway...

    QB Caleb Williams, CHI

Under ordinary circumstances, I would agree a player trying to engineer or circumvent the draft process is not really a good look. Speaking as a Bears fan, given that Matt Eberflus had spent the previous two seasons before the '24 draft proving how spectacularly unqualified he was for a head...

    WR Luther Burden III, CHI

My understanding of NFL trade rules is that when a player is traded, their dead cap is still the responsibility of the original team. Moore's dead cap figure for 2026 is $35,485,000, and his salary is $28,500,000. Barring something dramatic, Moore will be on the Bears in '26. The team can...

    RB Chase Brown, CIN

Other factors to consider: the Bengals ranked 30th in the NFL in rushing attempts last year, possibly because of their disastrous defense. In the grand scheme of things, Brown averaging 13 carries per game feels like what we might expect out of a 1A back in a 1A/1B type of backfield. Perhaps a...
