She just got back, and she did 3.1 miles in just over 37:00, averaging 12:00/mile. She'll probably beat me on Saturday the way she's going! I'm so proud of her right now!
I think my wife's a week ahead of you. She had her first "failure" on Saturday when she was unable to run 20 consecutive minutes. I explained to her that a true failure would have been to plant her ### on the couch and skip the run. She was able to go something like 12 minutes straight, walked...
THIS GUY needs your advice.Oh, and nice job losing all that weight. I gotta get back on the weight loss wagon because I've gained back about 10 lbs of what I had lost.
I did 2 miles in Chicago on Saturday morning. My wife and I walked from Wacker down State to Chestnut for breakfast at Tempo, then back to Wacker via Michigan Av. My first time on the streets of Chicago. Saw lots of people out running. Now sure how you folks deal with all the traffic, tourists, etc.
I'm also 39, and love running to the "angry energy type music", so I'll have to check out some of the bands on 2Young's playlist. I also LOVE running to the podcasts found at Podrunner (also available FREE on iTunes). Based on the songs I've highlighted in Darrin's list above, I'm going to guess...
So basically, I've got some guys telling me it's bad to stretch before a run, and some other guys telling me it's bad to stretch after a run. Can I just assume, then, that you guys think stretching is just a bad thing that should be avoided? If so, can you point me to some basis for this...
Bummer dude. It does get better, but not if you don't ICE them immediately after every run. I would also recommend spending some extra time stretching your calves before and after each run.
I've never seen a 6 mile marker in a 10K or a 3 mile marker in a 5K. If you can see the finish line there's no need for another mile marker.Good work. You were 10 minutes faster than my first 10K. Of course, everyone's faster than me, so welcome to the club.
I'm going out for a run. Think I'll try some intervals and see if I can kill myself in the heat. If I die tonight, Furley can have all the beer in my house.
Pick up some Designer Whey and mix up a big glass. The chocolate rocks, and the protein is very necessary after a run. If you're not big on the protein shakes, check out Accelerade. It also has protein but is more of a sports drink. I actually prefer it over Gatorade. Wouldn't hurt to have a...
Got up yesterday morning, decided I wanted to race, found one starting at 9:00, and got there just in time to start! My time was nothing special - 30:31 for a 5K, almost 3 minutes slower than my PR last summer, but I finished and had fun meeting a couple of fellow bloggers that I have been...
