Tom Goldstein is one of the most respected appellate lawyers in the country. He regularly argues before the SCOTUS. That context makes the letter even more enjoyable to me.
My nephew had this procedure done a couple of weeks ago. He is 5 years old. His ears used to stick way out (more than the OP's daughter). He was oblivious to his ears, though. The surgery worked great. He seemed to experience very little discomfort or pain. My sister is very glad she had...
Obviously not. If 2002 was the first incident PSU was aware of and they immediately reported it to the proper authorities, Sandusky would be the only person implicated in wrong doing. Its not PSU's fault that they unknowingly hired a pedophile. It wouldn't have even been that big of a pr hit...
I think this is very close to the truth. A broader cover-up best explains the decision not to report what McQueary witnessed in 2002. However, I don't think Sandusky had anything on Joe or the program. I think PSU helped sweep the 1998 incident under the rug. Remember, Sandusky was still a...
The United States is a Constitutional Democracy which basically means that the people can't vote for something that violates the constitution. The Bill of Rights (and many other provisions of the Constitution) are designed to protect the fundemental rights of politcal minorities. The question of...
I don't see how it is stereotyping and I didn't mention racism in my post. I merely pointed out the argument is selectively applied which raises questions about whether those who make the argument, usually with great passion, really believe it. You are the one who raised racism as a possible...
No, not directed at you Yankee. And no, I admittedly have not read the whole thread. My post was just a general observation. Many restrictionists make what amounts to moral argument against people who are illegally present in the US, based on the mere fact that they may have violated the law...
I am always a bit skeptical when I hear the rule of law argument asserted by restrictions. This argument asserts that illegal immigrants do not deserve equitable consideration because they have demonstrated they do not respect US law by sneaking in the country. The argument takes on a moral...
This isn't true. There are plenty of ways to be "here illegally" and not commit a crime. It isn't a crime to be illegally present in the US. It is true that it is a misdemeanor to enter the US without being inspected by US authorities.
Its not true that "'being illegal' is a crime in and of itself." Falling out of status by overstaying or working without authorization is not a crime. Enforcing the Arizona law will be tricky because determining if an alien is "legal" or not can be very complex and Arizona law enforcement...
the man said non-citizens not tourists, i brought tourists up. and at the end of the day it is the same thing. do you ever wonder why when someone is deported, during that process they have legal representation? free if they cant afford it. Ever wonder why we cant just go into a trailer park on...
