15 Years Later: September 11, 2001 Attacks on NYC, DC, VA

Yes, exactly. I know I've told this story a million times, but I had been working my tail off on a project that was due by Friday that week. I live (and then too) here in Indiana. The heat and humidity had been insufferable right up to the day before. I had been making an effort to get to...

Do you answer the door if someone knocks/rings the bell?

Working from home (2 days per week for me now, 5 for my wife) is great but I do notice a lot of peddlers (mostly alarm systems, pest control, potential political posers, etc.) so I generally communicate via the ring doorbell. However, a few years ago, when we were both full time from home, I...

The “I want to retire soon” thread

I'm not an expert so I ran your entire question through AI and here's what it returned: * I am not a financial, tax, nor retirement expert, please don't make life decisions based upon some random person on the internet, your mileage may vary, I am not giving life, financial, retirement advice...

Can we discuss pet peeves here?

Yesterday, Labor Day, 8:45 AM, my neighbor fired up the lawn mower and went at his yard. This guy is like 70+ years old, so my first thought was ". . . quick calculation, this guy has probably been up since 4:30 AM so in his mind, it's midday at this point. After this he's got to get a shower...

    ______ Passed Away Today, RIP

Ah that's a shame. I lived in Cincinnati for about 10 years in the mid 80's to mid 90's. Used to listen to 700 WLW on the walk to campus and then on the drive into work after I graduated. RIP Earl/Gilbert/etc. and Gary.

What major sports injuries have you suffered?

Broke an ankle playing basketball one summer when I was home from college for the summer. . . but not like Allen Iverson type of opponent made a killer move on me and "broke my ankles" but more like, I went up for a rebound, came down on someone's foot, bam, broke my ankle and then I spent the...

    The Great American Chip-Off

I feel the exact same way as you do about chips minus the spreadsheet (that's just weird) but I am a certified chipaholic except that I'll go weeks on end w/out buying them b/c I will destroy bags of chips w/out thought, remorse, pity or mercy. That stated, I absolutely detest all dressed...

Your Mount Rushmore of hard rock/metal vocalists

Robert Plant Axl Rose Jim Morrison (I feel like The Doors would probably not be considered hard rock now but I do feel strongly they were definitely hard rock in their era, just my opinion, I could be wrong) David Lee Roth (I like a lot of his solo work but his Van Halen era work is pure gold...

100 Greatest Movies of the 80’s - Not on Timschochet’s list

I cannot possibly be the only one who wants to see at least one if not all three of these movies made now. . . right?

Woman trapped in Chuck E. Cheese

I was thinking more in terms of "getting stuck at a birthday party" for more than 30 minutes kind of stuck at Chuck-E's. My mind didn't even go to "getting stuck inside of a miserable place inside of a miserable place." Feels like trying to divide by zero.

Consensus Top 350 Albums of All-Time: 1. The Dark Side of the Moon – Pink Floyd

Amazing album - not to be nitpicky but since the Cars album was #26, shouldn't this one be #25?

    My Father In Law

Sorry for your loss Joe. My co-worker just lost his father (58) to pancreatic cancer this year, he only lasted 6 months after diagnosis so 15+ years (to me) is pretty amazing.
