I think many races have similar verbiage in them that isn't enforced. I am pretty sure the Monumental has some stuff about them being "discouraged" but not sure there is anything officially banning them.
On here somewhere are some race reports I have done from a series of XC style 5ks I have participated in. One of the races in the series was on an actual HS XC course. The others were not actual courses but rather were what I always thought XC races would be like in HS before I ever actually ran...
I've eaten there before but it's been a few years ago. It's your standard sports bar. I think they had a decent beer selection and food was fine. Nothing special but serviceable.
Oh, I disappeared from here almost all together. Back when I first found you guys I was starting to get into shape and eventually went from about 240 all the way down to about 192 and got into the best shape I had been in since high school. But over the last 2 years, I totally fell off the wagon...
You guys make me sad. I'm running just to run over here and get in shape but makes me sad this goes weeks without anything being posted. But what are you going to do? I have now run more this year than any year since 2022, which isn't saying much. I mean if I can keep up what I'm doing recently...
Lots of ways to do it but my preferred method has always been to try to set a pace I can keep for however far I plan to go. I.e. show and steady wins the race. But that's more a preference thing. Whatever works for you.
I keep planning to add this in but haven't. Stretching some but not enough. Also want to add some body weight and kettlebell work in but haven't done so in a consistent basis yet.
I have the opposite problem when I go to the indoor track - it's about the same set up with 2 lanes that designate runners to the outside, walkers to the inside but is ~11 laps per mile. When I run it instead of going outside, I often have to navigate people walking 2 wide that don't pay much...
I'd suggest you just run wherever you are comfortable running. Trails might offer a little extra cushion but also plenty of hazards. I have rolled an ankle on many a rock, root, or hole. That's no fun either.
