I think there's a very good chance Rodgers would have been a bust if not drafted by Green Bay.
He was pretty bad his first two years in the league...at least from what he showed in camp and preseason.
It wasn't until the third year when Favre got injured against the Cowboys and Rodgers stepped...
I'm concerned with corner. Shields is our #1, but its unknown after that. I thought Hayward was going to be a good one, but he kind of disappeared after his rookie year (although much of that is to do with injuries).
Not really comfortable with the #2 spot if Williams leaves. Even if they...
At the same time, we may lose Bulaga, House, and Tramon. Those may not be as blockbuster as Suh/Fairley/Marshall/Peterson but GB may be hit by FA as well.
Can't see letting Bulafa go unless he gets outrageous money.
It's fine to slightly overpay to keep that line together. Let's not all forget the problems that line had in years prior.
the difference between Bulaga and Barclay is worth paying extra for.
Additionally, if Bulaga leaves, that...
And this is really what it will come down to.
Yes, there's a chance that he could make more money in the long run by staying in GB.
But it looks like we're talking about a difference of $2-3 million per year. Nobody would pass that up.
He's already bet on himself once and won big. I'm sure he...
Can't blame GB for passing and can't blame Cobb for taking the money. He might be able to get $3 million / year more in free agency.
If you're going to let a talent like Cobb go, you better use that money wisely.
Most Pack fans are more worried about losing Bulaga, but his position doesn't...
Who do you think makes more money in 2019?Randall Cobb who caught balls from Aaron Rodgers for the last 4 years
Or
Randall Cobb who caught balls from Blake Bortes for the last 4 years?
Cobb is young enough to have another big payday after this contract.
I don't think people are saying he's...
I tend to agree with this. You could add Jennings as another guy who left GB and completely disappeared.
On GB's side, I think they have a tough decision as well.
They would still have one of the best offenses in the NFL without Cobb. Maybe that money would be better used at another position...
Cobb is only 24 yrs old if I'm not mistaken. He needs to be thinking about his next contract too, assuming this one is 4 yrs or so.
Jennings left for more money and completely fell off the face of the earth without Rodgers. A bad QB can make good WRs invisible.
Getting an extra million or so...
Tretter was awful in limited snaps at tackle and I've read articles that have stated he'd be much better off inside. I don't know enough to say either way, just something I've read.
They've been able to be successful with Barclay in the lineup, but he's a huge dropoff from Bulaga.
Either way...
On the surface, we all obviously attribute some of these drastic stat differences to the rules allowing more passing yards.
However, you also can't overlook the fact that the rules for hitting the QB were different. Their bodies were most likely in completely different shape at age 37
