Steelers sticking with grass at Heinz Field

Exactly. I don't see why everyone wants perfect conditions to play the game.

    FIRE Tom Coughlin!

Could you expand on the changes that were made?

    Time to retire Favre...

I think it was classic Favre at the end. I told my wife as soon as overtime hit he would lose it. The defense was having a hard time stopping the Giants and had given the Giants two chances already to win the game. The offense was unable to move the ball on the ground and every bit of the...

"The game has passed him by."

You still have not explained HOW a off-tackle is blocked differently? Do the backside guard/tackle not pull, no more cross blocks, no TE reading the DE technique? Are log blocks or angle block no longer used? A WR sitting in a zone is nothing new as far back as I can remember. You also...

I would disagree with out-smarted. That happens to all of the coaches through out their coaching years. Being out-worked is the same as being out-coached in my opinion. If the coach still loves the game age shouldn't matter otherwise they just want put in the same work.

Good post. I hadn't considered the replay and play clock. I think even modern coaches have trouble with challenges though. On players is dealing with TO really that different than dealing with Hollywood Henderson?

"The game has passed him by."

First off I am not arguing just to argue. I'm discussing the topic and trying to determine where people think the game has changed so drastically. Let look at a few examples.Running plays. What has changed from the early 80's?1. Running the dive? 2. Running off-tackle? 3. Running...

Pretty good point in dealing with millionaires versus players just making a living. I'm just not convinced that dealing with Hollywood henderson is much different than dealing with Terrel Owens.

    Lovie Smith just gave up

I'm pretty sure this wouldn't be the first instance and not the last for coaches doing this. The concern to me would come when the prep and execution are ignored.

    Lovie Smith just gave up

I said one play of one game is not enough. You said it was bigger than one play then tell me you the same one play as proof.Go figure. This has become boring and not worth typing when you are going in circles. Thanks for the conversation though.

    Lovie Smith just gave up

It's what you gave me. Seems to me he knew A. Peterson killed them last time and game planned to stop him and did so succesfully. Seems to me like someone trying to win the game and not give up on the season. From my previous post I asked:Show me proof he wasn't trying to win games. Not holding...

"The game has passed him by."

The DE dropping into coverage is a good example of a scheme change but this is something all coaches look for in review. I don't see this throwing off Lombardi or any other NFL level coach.Formations are used to get various angles of attack on the defense. So from a pro-set attacking the...

Explain how the I formation has changed or a spread set has changed?

    Lovie Smith just gave up

One play of a game is not proof.Your answer proves my point that "Running an NFL Franchise 101" is not the same as what we learned in elementary school. Guess you could always bring McCay out of retirement.

Please explain in detail how a rip technique has changed since 1970. Thanks
