  1. It is about need. I like Broyles but WR is not a need for the Lions. When you have Calvin locked up for his career, Titus Young coming back as a second year WR, two good pass catching TEs..you can always find a third WR to plug in.The Lions did address need, they need to be able to score at will to keep up with the Packers. The Packers first 6 picks were all defense. Lions offense can hang with any team..they just can`t stop anyone. Their need was corner and it would have been a major reach to take any corner with their 2nd. None went for the rest of the round. Reaching for need is terrible
  2. I agree. I like the 1st pick of Reiff and he really fell into their lap. After that, I think the draft for Det is a bit of a disaster. Taking Broyles is an awful pick. He wasn't worth the 2nd round pick before the injury and will get lost on their roster. That pick could have been much more useful to take a LB like L. David, who went only a few picks later. It also would have been better spent doubling up on the Oline seeing that great value was on the board in Adams or Konz. With a paring of Reiff and Adams/Konz Det could have instantly upgraded both the inside and outside of their Olin
  3. A good #4 WR in round 2... but the Lions did address the need for a CB in the third round in Dwight Bentley. Still some work to do but if the WR makes a comeback after the injury then he will add to the depth at the WR position and make the Lions Offense all that more scary! Now I agree that I didn't think they would draft a receiver in round two. However I gotta believe that Martin Mayhew has a plan for the team.by the way that WR (Ryan Broyles) they picked in the second round set OU records for season receptions, receiving yards and TD receptions (14)

  5. I agree, Loved the pick! The Lions HAVE to spend day two concentrating on the secondary though!!! A must, in my book!

  7. Signing Tulloch is huge for the defense. Although I am curious on how much they had to fork over. I really hope they do not load Avril up with a long term deal. I think with the inside strength at def tackle they will be a able to find a contributor in the draft for the outside. Corner will again be an issue but Mayhew has done a great job so I trust he has a plan.I wonder if they will use him (Cliff Avril) as trade bait in the draft to move up in the draft if they see a guy falling a bit that they really want. Defensive line is one of their strong suits and yes Avril would be missed but it's
  8. Tulloch is a done deal! link This is great news for the Lions. The only starter, from last season, not returning is cornerback Eric Wright, who signed a free agent contract with the Buccaneers. They now can build around what they had with the draft and late in free agency. If they can get kevin smith back and have that trio of rb's I think they can have a NO Saints like running game, IF they all stay healthy. They could be a lot of fun to watch next season!
  9. Thats huge for the Lions, now they can get their FA moves started Great move that had to get done this off-season. This should assure that the NFLs best WR will play his whole career as a Detroit Lion.I keep reading, not in this thread, that no WR is worth that kind of money and the Lions made a mistake by making that kind of long term commitment. All I can say is, they must have a short memory or they didn't see any Lions games this last season! I say great deal!!! It was #1 on my list of things I wanted to see happen this offseason and I'm glad it has been taken care of. Even if it m
  10. It would be better if they were wearing thongs or nothing... But, then again if they were it wouldn't be on here.
