If everyone else in my community has the ability to get freely vaccinated (they do), then your argument doesn't hold water.

I think you also need to take into account that there is not an insignificant amount of folks in your community who literally can’t take the vaccine or have health conditions where the vaccine doesn’t work.  I know of several. They are scared, depressed. Imagine having to depend upon the kindness of people in your community and all you read are myopic views. It sucks.

Just another illustration of how easy a social media smear campaign can be put together. Especially seems to work perfectly with conspiracy theory stuff.

:goodposting:I know there are plenty of legitimate Americans who bask in this stuff and post away.  But I remain convinced that some of the more insane, directly contentious, and persistent takes are foreign actors stoking fires here.  Again, plenty of people eating it up, but I'd bet there will be tons to come out about how much subversion there was from China/Russia at some point in time.  Its practically risk free for them at the moment as there is no teeth in retaliation nor much defense.

Indoor volleyball and water polo are so repetitive....looks like the same play over and over again.  I'm sure I'd appreciate them more if I were an expert in them, but nevertheless, these are two of my least favorite sports to watch in the summer games.   I may have to do an olympics sport ranking(for entertainment value.)

I'd read this.  And I'd submit to you for your rankings Olympic Power Walking

:hifive: I think its time to come clean if you were Palin-era Statorama.  Seriously, the shtick is so similar...and legit funny.

I'd be interested in seeing your evidence.  I don't recall hearing about him saying that but, then again, I certainly could have missed it.

    Sure, here is his quote:

Carlson also said “the only people who wear masks outside are zealots and neurotics” and said seeing a vaccinated person wear a mask outdoors was like “watching a grown man expose himself in public”.

“Your response when you see children wearing masks as they play should be no different from your response to seeing someone beat a kid in Walmart,” he said.

“Call the police immediately, contact child protective services. Keep calling until someone arrives. What you’re looking at is abuse, it’s child abuse and you are morally obligated to attempt to prevent it.”

You don't have to count the votes to know how many ballots are remaining to be counted.  There were 50k.  Now there are 61k.  Do you not see how that can create a negative perception?

Your point is definitely well taken.  One reason I (personally) really want Biden to get above in Georgia as compared to PA is that the Georgia state apparatus is almost all GOP right?  To take the wind out the sails of a lot of the conspiracy stuff that will no doubt carry forward I'd love to have the Georgia GOP-run fact in the back pocket.

    Rural Ohio lol

Oh, I'm close enough in a very red (65%) county.  I see the many many Trump flags...the home-made signs....the pickups with trailer-hitch nutz with attached Trump flags...the Facebook posts in our neighborhood news pages...the occasional confederate flag....

They haunt me.  I wake up in a sweat often.

He'll need 70%ish. But I think they are all Atlanta area, and, I believe that's right where he was trending. Going to be ridiculously close. I think it ends up under 1K difference either way.

Apparently the Georgia SOS gave that figure on a radio show so who knows if he was just rounding informally in talking.  10:30am he is supposed to give a press conference on the state of the tallies so that'll be much more definitive.

Either way and like you said...tiiiiight.

  9. Nate Silver says this in response to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution analysis:  That vote remaining seems too low.  :(

So, AJC is saying 51,000 untallied absentee ballots in Georgia, most "concentrated in highly populated areas, led by Fulton County in Atlanta and Chatham County in Savannah." Biden needs 18,500 to catch up, meaning he'd need to win them 68-32. Very doable.

In Arizona a little, yes, although there is apparently a big blue district there that still owes a lot of votes. Nevada hasn’t done anything.

It appears Biden will take over PA some time today putting an end to all of this hopefully.

I really really hope Biden can overtake him in Georgia too.  I know it would likely be razor-thin, but the optics of that would be huge.  I've been obsessed with watching that vote count.

Yes, both MI and WI got called. Assuming AZ, which was already called by AP, only needs 1 more state: NV, GA, NC, or PA.

Best bet is NV, I believe. GA is running out of time. 76000 down with 96% reporting. Needs to get like 70% of remaining to even it up. PA a better shot. But NV is likely the one.

    Georgia:  66K down with 96%

Late earlies in AZ have trended towards Dems in the past. That’s why you saw McSally leading Sinema after Election Day in 2018 but then her lead disappeared over time. Obviously dynamics have changed and the pandemic may have caused R’s who normally vote “in person” to request a mail in ballot and drop it off, but I have no idea. Dems tend to drop off their mail-ins late, though, and the pandemic wouldn’t change the behavior much if at all.

Thanks for your insight, Friend of McB.  Please throw anything this way as AZ has me with the squirts.  (As well as Georgia)

Biden could get GA ...and/or NC ...and/or PA.

But if he holds NV and MI, he's got 270.  Dems would like one of those three, I'm sure, as buffer against the recount/legal madness that's looming.

NV worries the crap out of me.  So close and seems odd.  Man, Georgia would let me eat again. :stomachpain:

  14. Am I out of mind that Biden could get Georgia here?  Am I putting myself for a huge disappointment that I have Ga up on Politico's map and am slamming F5 F5 F5?

ETA: Anyone know a good GA twitter follow on the breakdown?  I'm driving myself crazy here because getting GA would be an absolute game changer on all the mess.
