  1. Can we please identify the 'good' lotto players so I can stake them?
  2. I think the only working actor in their nineties right now is Betty White. Abe Vigoda says 'hi". Christopher Lee still going strong at 91 with recent roles as Saruman, Count Dooku, etc.
  3. I'm not involved in this (too busy atm), but I suggest you find an alternative to Pee Pal. They're d*cks and will put an indefinite hold on your $ with even a hint of suspicious transactions. And you just know that some bozo is gonna write "definitely not for an illegal gambling ring" in the memo and then the jig is up.
  4. Netflix desperately needs to upgrade their streaming UI. I can't search by director, it doesn't list recent additions, expiration dates for existing titles aren't readily available, heck my new releases list don't even get updated! The categorization is absurd and often incorrect, there's no way to sort by year or rating or user score or anything. Crap B-movies (and worse) are listed right alongside studio-funded releases, often in a seemingly disingenuous attempt to make it seem like their selection is better than it is (i.e., rip-offs that look like the real deal, but are complete trash). It would cost maybe a couple hundred grand to get this done with a few programmers in a few months, yet for a multimillion dollar enterprise they couldn't be bothered.
  5. Come on now, uniques are precisely that - they are unique. They are designed with one main principle in mind, they will never be better than the best rares. They allow unique mods for items which they normally cannot obtain which translates into more unique builds which is exactly what you were arguing against in your first point. Uniques aren't even incredibly rare Idk how many hours I have played since open beta began, id ballpark it around 100-150, and I have found four unique boots, four unique gloves, two unique shields, two unique helmets, two unique amulets, two unique bows, one unique dagger and one unique sword. 18 total. But uniques are frequently best-in-slot, precisely because their mods can enable builds. That doesn't promote item diversity, it cripples the economy for everything but the uppermost echelon of rares - which need no assistance being valuable in the first place. I'm actually dismayed that they'll be introducing more uniques every week - I don't want to be able to pre-plan my exact build gear, that takes away the motivation to acquire loot in the first place!Except they arent. This is the case in one instance and its debatable even at that, Kaom's Heart Glorious Plate is widely considered the best unique in the game - it provides 1000 additional life but at the cost of its low max armor of around 680 and it can't have any sockets at all. This is a huge problem if you aren't a 2h user or a bow user. The only other unique really in the running is Lioneyes Glare Imperial Bow, which is going to be nerfed in one way or another, it still isn't the best bow in the game for physical or elemental builds, but it allows for bow users to drop resolute technique (which gives never miss, never crit) because Lioneye's Glare's unique mod is never miss. Your second point is awful, and I think this just isn't the type of game for you - if you play this game without a build in mind then you will fail everytime adding variety is always better. You're just flat wrong. Plenty of uniques are best-in-slot at all levels for certain builds. And you misunderstood the second point. Once you have a best-in-slot for your build, you no longer need to keep looking for upgrades, which is the whole point of ARPGs. If I can easily identify and buy all of the best-in-slots, all I need to do is appropriately level my character to use them and be fully equipped. Eliminating the search for gear by the introduction of a deep pool of uniques is a mistake.

I must be doing something wrong because I've probably logged close to 50 hrs of game play and I've only wound up with one unique...and its a pair of gloves I don't even use. I have my increased rarity % mods as high as I can get them too.You can farm these at a rate of about 10+ per hour with boss runs and multi-logging. This is why you constantly see people spamming 10+ uniques in trade chat (these are the ones they don't trash). Also, consider what would happen when you have a million people actively playing the game. At a rate of even 1 unique per 50 hours, that would generate 20000 uniques per hour across the league.

  8. This is a great game, just started playing it and have gone through my typical alt-itis.Some criticisms though that I hope will be addressed soon:1) dependence on +life/+resist/+armor makes passive selection too rigid2) non-intuitive game mechanics (which support gems affect which skill gems, hidden vendor recipes, etc.)3) player avatars ... please let me wear pants! also, some customization of gender/face/clothing would be nice (I'd pay good $ for this)4) trade-based economy needs better item acquisition systems5) more variety in skill types (channeled spells, non-splash AoE, direct damage curses, charge-up and combo'd melee attacks, etc.)6) temporary player buffs should be re-worked, frenzy/endurance/power charge skills are too limiting to be incorporated into most buildsI also wish uniques were removed from the game. You can't support an RNG-based item economy with these competing items.
  9. if no one wins this drawing, i might have to drive out to AZ from SoCal ... maybe a detour to Vegas? ;-)
  10. It's been 5 years. Can we please have the spelling error in the thread title corrected? My OCD is causing dangerous rage levels to build.
  11. I recently un-subscribed to the streaming service. Poor selection puts it mildly.
  12. Why does Netflix offer old TV series that are incomplete?? Kind of frustrated that I just started watching the old Star Trek Deep Space Nine, and am into Season 4 only to find out that virtually all of seasons 5 onward are incomplete. What the hell?
  13. 100 books in a year seems a bit high unless they're throwaway novels. You're going to be missing details trying to read for speed.
  14. I assume you mean the new one. The original is still one of my favorite all-time, and I'm considering looking at the new one despite the awfulness of the second.
  15. I guess that's cool, but nothing about those "go pick 10 flowers" quests appeals to me.Idk, randomly generated "steal this" and "kill this guy" quests could be pretty cool. They wouldn't really be glorified "fetch" quests unless that's how you look at the main storylines for those guilds in the first place.Agreed. I love that they'll be tailored to your individual character as well. 'Oh, you haven't explored this area yet, let's send you there!' :thumbup. For those that care, reviews officially are going to (allowed) posted on all the gaming websites at 8am EST tomorrow morning. reviews by mainstream sites are never negative and are usually so shallow as to be useless. user reviews 8-12 weeks post-release are much better indicators of game quality.
  16. I'm here for the lynching. I heard there was to be punch and pie served?
  17. Ok. So will Skyrim run poorly on my laptop? I really like playing RPGs on the PC. It isn't the mods as much as the comfort of playing at my desk, while visiting the in-laws, etc. Playing on the console limits me to the living room madness of my house. That's fine for sports and stuff, but for an immersion RPG, I like the PC.Yes, I'd imagine Skyrim would run poorly on nearly any laptop.I prefer pc also, because of mods but also because in the past games had UIs designed with the pc in mind. Now, unfortunately, it's gone the other way and pc gamers just take the ported version from the console so the UIs are crap.
  18. Thanks for this. Can a GB out there tell me if playing this on my PC is a smart move? I meet all the min requirements and half the recommended, but there's a few oddities. 1. However, it says my CPU speed is fine. It's just not "quad-core." Is this a big deal?2. However, I exceed various video card requirements -Video RAM 1 GB (req) --- you have 3.7 GB Pixel Shader version 3.0 (req) ---- you have 4.1 Vertex Shader version 3.0 (req)---- you have 4.1 WTF? Everything else measures up to the recommended requirements. I even exceed the rec. RAM by 2 GB. Thanks for any responses. RAM is meaningless above a certain threshold. Throw unlimited RAM on an old video processor and it won't perform any better. You have a mobility processor (i.e., laptop) which is going to purposefully be slower to avoid heat buildup and reduce power consumption.
  19. I played both Morrowwind and Oblivion. I've heard the arguments from those who didn't like Oblivion, but I think those people are crazy. I loved Oblivion but I don't think anyone can be termed crazy who thought the leveling sucked. I could see that one facet alone ruining the game for many.It depends on what type of gamer you are. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bartle_TestI was pretty angry that they decimated the enchantment system and removed the ability to levitate and other neat spell effects that enabled non-violent explorability. But the game design itself was really fundamentally flawed. AutoLeveling of bad-guys with the character is stupid and removes all sense of achievement, let alone the dangers of exploration. Mini-games for lockpicking, bartering and persuasion were awful. Dungeon design was woefully repetitive. Going with all voice-acting instead of text dialog severely limited the amount of dialog. And then they only had a half dozen voice actors perform all NPCs on the continent. At least add some kind of postprocessing effects to make the voices seem different. The UI was terrible. These are RPG-101 level mistakes from a company that has made these types of games for two decades. That doesn't mean they didn't improve over Morrowind in some important ways. Combat is vastly improved, graphics are obviously great, etc. but these things don't appeal to me when there are other types of games that do these things better. Skyrim needs to improve on the fundamental game design of Oblivion. A new storyline alone doesn't cut it if the game dynamics are bad, I'll just play a different game if all I wanted was new plot to chew through.
  20. I recall upgrading my computer when Oblivion came out about 5 years ago - since Morrowind was one of my all-time favorite games. Oblivion was such an abortion of a game that I have very little desire to give Bethesda the benefit of the doubt a second time. I'll wait for the GOTY edition in a couple years if reviews are favorable from people I trust (I ignore the people who thought Oblivion was awesome).
  21. haha you and I aren't in the same ballpark when it comes to budget on this one. i'm getting this: metal frame . i don't like squeaky wood, and this is the only metal platform i can afford that isn't just a flimsy frame.
  22. I ended up getting the BIB PacBamboo 13" Queen and a solid metal platform bed from Amazon that I've had my eye on. Haven't had a good night sleep in awhile, definitely time to get rid of my 6-year-old bottom-of-the-barrel $300-for-both-mattress-and-boxspring slab of awful I've been stuck on since grad school. Thanks y'all for the reviews.
  23. You don't even know what the thing is yet. How big it can get, how far it can go. This is no time to take your chips down. A million dollars isn't cool, you know what's cool? A billion dollars.Oh man I can't wait to be really, really rich.
