  1. Gonna be hard to get a conviction at this point I am guessing.
  2. Because they want to kill Dorner.Because they don't want to give away any their tactical positions to Dorner in case he's watching on TV.Cutting power down?
  3. Escaped? Or got in one and started driving with another twenty tailing him?The way it sounded is that they didn't realize it at first. But I'm listening to CB radio right now and the officers surrounding the cabin don't seem to think he has gone anywhere. Why are they searching cars then?
  4. I can only imagine the number of calls that they are having to sift through here. They've probably got leads on every remotely similar looking guy in the area. The ONLY benefit to this reward is the hope that someone helping him gives him up, but even then, who do you believe in all the static that must be coming through? Some people thought he stopped by Lowe's to pick up some supplies yesterday. They have 50 protection details assigned, with one Captain having 6 squad cars on around the clock duty. They also added extra protection to the Grammy's last night. They are piling up quite a tab on all the extra protection and searching.OVERTIME! Now they actually have to work the hours they put in for.
  5. Nice. This won't up the body count at all.I want to know where they dredged up a million bucks in a town with crap schools and massive debt. "We're broke!"Then someone shoots 3 people."We have an extra million dollars!" Rampart Pharmaceuticals LLC
  6. I'd bet that there was. But a lot of keyboard jockeys seem to know exactly how things unfolded.Yes, I am sure they were totally justified in lighting up a vehicle of wrong make, model, color, in the threatening position of driving away from them. Happens all the time.I'm trying to find the part where I said their actions were justified. Care to help me out?Sure, as soon as you point out where people claim to know exactly how it went down.

  8. If you are building your own portfolio this is a good place to start. I would narrow it down to 2 equities (maybe even 1) though so you can cut down your fees. Contrary to some of the early responses, value stocks can also have growth potential. I started my portfolio in May of 07 (crappy timing?) with Altria (MO) which subsequently split off Philip Morris (PMI). The equities alone have returned 7.9% and 11.0% per year respectively. this is on top of the 4-5% divs that have been dripping.15% annual returns in a market that has basically been spinning its wheels for the past 5 years has made me a big e believer in consumer staples in volatile conditions, which IMO, the market is still in.I am not sure why you chose 5 years as your baseline, but the 4 year S&P return is about 50% up. A pretty far cry from 'spinning its wheels'...Because that's when I bought in?So then you agree that each of our timelines are arbitrary? Along with your 8 and 11% (and my 50%)? Recommending someone invest a sizable chunk of change based on a 5 year return of a couple stocks you own is best described as gambling, and better described as bad adviceWell if I take your arbitrary time frame, my return is closer to 120%. I am not recommending any particular stock, just that consumer staples are less volatile and will yield more consistent returns under volatile conditions. People are not going to stop eating, smoking, doing their laundry, or going to McDonanlds. The poster wanted a suggestion with where to put some play money, not where to invest his nest egg. If you want to get started in the market in this manner, I think it is best you look at companies/sectors that you understand and go from there. PM/MO has withstood the onslaught of lawsuits and aren't going anywhere soon. I would say the same for MCD, PG, KO, and WMT. If I am going to "play around" in the market, I am going to screen companies and focus my investments where I see fit, not dump it a mutual fund where some analyst has to pick a ton of stocks that are going to be losers in the name of diversification.

  11. Their season will be fine. They'll walk into the playoffs, Gronk or no Gronk, and then he'll be back by the time the games are mattering again.Maybe, but now they may be playing on the road in week 2 of the playoffs. As opposed to before this week when they were a lock for a top 2 seed?
  12. Slowplay? As in foot frequency on he defensive end?I like your skill with multiple meanings. What can you do with the number 17?Stand unless it's Pontoon and I have 4 cards.

  14. I see Smith has fluked his way into yet another low interception ratio. 1 pick on 137 attempts. Whole lot of dumb luck. Meanwhile, Cutler has thrown 7 interceptions on 156 attempts. Vick has 6 in 185. I admit he hasn't faced a scary schedule but I took a big issue with you characterizing interceptions as "the most random of all QB statistics" then and I still don't buy this argument. If you have some statistics to back this statement up I'd be interested in reading them.Glad I let my subscription run out. These guys will look for anything to support their predetermined conclusion. at INTs being random.
  15. That was an awesome game. Again, I know it's a loss but PSU looked great everywhere except the kicking game. I was impressed with Mcgloin. I am enjoying watching them this year more then any years in the recent past (maybe 2005?). They actualy have plays that can convert on 3rd and long now.... And they actually work! It's exciting watching a team that blitzes too. Was very rare in the past. Def fun team to watch. I think wins will come with experience. Loved the 4th down calls and the fake punt. Happy with everything except the outcome. Really like O'Brien and how he puts it on him and his coaches instead of the kids.Except for the blown coverage on 3rd and long and he ran onto the field past the numbers to yell at the kid.Yelling at the DB? That wasn't him, it was the secondary coach. O'Brien yelled at the officials twice about the play clock. If you don't condemn it you condone it.DB coach would be suspended if that was my staff. Yelling at kids is ok. Showing them up like that is bush league. Glad it's not your staff then.Me too
