  1. Not to hijack the discussion about medical crystal balling, but does anyone know when NFL teams assign a player to IR in cases where the injury occurs before camp? My leagues do not allow placing a player on IR until MFL displays him on IR, so I'm sitting (along with all you other disheartened owners) on Akers as a roster clogger, until such time as all this happens. I don't remember, or haven't paid attention, to a season ending injury for a skill position player before camp starts in the past. Anyone know what sort of timeline we might expect on the IR designation?
  2. just received an offer of a 2nd next year, probably late, will sleep on it but unlikely to accept
  3. Sure, but where in the draft? They only have one pick at the top of each round until 2 comps at the end of Round 5. How high a priority can an additional RB be in their grand scheme?
  4. Been at this game a long time, but I don't remember one worse: I was offered Adam Humphries and a 2021 2nd for Hopkins. Scored out at 2966-183 on the dynasty trade calculator I use. Some people weren't meant to play this game . . .
  5. Anyone have access to how Vegas is setting lines differently? I would think they've given this a lot of thought and research . . .
  6. This kool-aid has been in my refrigerator a long time now. Think I'll pour myself a glass . . .
  7. You gotta be happy . . . even if it is chalky.
  8. I'd take Akers but I hoard RB's (took him at 1.06 in 2 drafts). Honestly, if you take Lamb ar 1.05 and 1.06 takes Akers, are you happy pairing Jeudy with Lamb for the next 10 years - I'd guess yes. So for me it comes down to how scarce RB's are in your league and whether you have any confidence in picking the right one at 1.08. Then again, in one of my drafts, Ruggs went at 1.04 - something unpredictable like that could happen and you might have two RB's to choose from at 1.05. I also think your question about value at this time next year begs the other question of shelf life - you take those two WR's and, if as advertised, become the backbone of your WR corps long beyond Akers value days . . .
  9. Give me Lamb over Jeudy here . . . clearer path to WR1 in a couple years . . . Lamb Jeudy Reagor - 1st year impact Ruggs - won't be taking this guy unless he falls a long way, but could be #1 target in LV Jefferson - if he gets 2/3 of Diggs in 1st year don't be surprised. Aiyuk - love his upside Pittman - what are we to make of Paris Campbell? Higgins - lady in waiting until Green departs?? Shanault - health is the only thing that will keep him from significance, but it's a large risk Mims - not sure what to make of this one - some question his hands Edwards - loved him predraft, but landing spot suggests limited opportunities
  10. Not to belabor the discussion, but we're talking two guys who will be lucky to see the field on Sunday (Smith may not even hold down the Saint's WR3 spot) vs. the #5 QB in this league on an average points per game played basis. I too looked at the DTC, but I believe the eye test serves me better here.
  11. Just took over an orphaned team in an 8 year old dynasty. My first day in the system was offered J. Brissett and Tre'Quan Smith for Drew Brees. Oof!
  12. See Colts at 25-1, tied with Pitt and LAC for 12th on the list . . . there's a glimmer there.
  13. "People have the wrong idea of who he is as a person," said one general manager. "The issue, instead, is that Beckham isn't a good fit with quarterback Baker Mayfield." What do you Browns insiders make of this statement? An indictment of Mayfield's ability to take advantage of Beckham's enormous talent, some personality disorder on Beckham's part that discourages Mayfield from targeting him, or an NFL GM blowing smoke rings out his ####? Just a curious statement to me . . .
  14. Does this news resurrect the Gronkowski rumors?
  15. If I'm reading this correctly, you currently have the 40th pick and your next pick is 81. A lot happens, so I'd be evaluating what's likely to be my option at 81 on. Seems QB is out of the question right now - too expensive and too old (and the early draft picks are gone). You're going to have to be creative at TE, but on the ADP I checked, Fant slotted in at 82. For me it's RB or WR and I see a whole bunch of the WRs you listed all bunched in the same area (around pick 40). Taking it a step further, for me it's RB as the dropoff gets steep. You might get Conner (85) or Guice on your next pick depending on how things go - and your shelf life is shorter. Looks like you traded for an additional early pick and this is the price for that - not good or bad - just the price. For me it's Beckham if WR and Fournette if RB, but I'm a minority believer in these guys . . .
  16. Won't you be forced to draft situation instead of talent? Not that this is all bad, but counting on a couple rookies without any track record in a final season is ambitious to say the least . . .
  17. This appears to be a linear draft - aren't most startup dynasty drafts serpentine to level the playing field? Just curious . . .
  18. Swift outside top 10 - be interesting to see the logic . . .
  19. Bumping . . . Penguins have sold. Still seeking one quality owner for the TDSNYAFACE team - this is really a great league.
  20. We are a long running dynasty league with minimal ownership turnover over the years. This year we happen to need to replace 2 of our 24 owners. We run two 12 team conferences (two copies of each player) with our championship pitting the two conference winners. Annual fee is $75 and no additional fees required. The two teams we have for sale are both in the same conference and hold the 1.01 and 1.02 picks (linear draft 6 rounds). This is a highly competitive league. If the idea intrigues you, take a look at the league site https://www.rtsports.com/fantasy-football-league/17280. The two teams for sale are Penguins and TDSNYAFACE - both rosters need some work but draft position will help in this regard immediately. We carry 30 man rosters, so a 20% roster turnover is possible every year. Email me at dstauff@aol.com if interested - please provide me with a little info about your experience in dynasty play.
  21. Depending on the timing of such an announcement and your draft, I could actually see not conducting a draft at all in 2020 (if it's cancelled) and leaving those players in the 2021 draft pool. Would use the 2020 draft order as no game play would have occurred to alter its basis. Let's hope it does not come to this, but we'd have had to deal with a similar situation had we encountered a work stoppage.
  22. It's pretty obvious the purpose of the rule is to insure an owner doesn't gut their roster by trading away a significant future value (often making finding a replacement owner extremely difficult) without having a future investment in maintaining ownership. Once that 50% has been paid on any 1st round pick this has been accomplished. So no, he should not have to pay on any pick other than his own - and in addition, he's not the one you were originally worried about when you created the rule.
  23. Do we really believe the Rams are better off with a combo of Brown and Henderson? I know there are plenty of Henderson truthers on the board that spent a mid first on him last year, but his first taste of the NFL did little to inspire confidence. Brown is a capable plodder, pedestrian at best. Just can't see the Rams dumping Gurley unless 1) the injury is worse than any of us know (unlikely based on past year's performance) or 2) they plan to acquire a replacement back via trade or draft. I just can't see them cutting him loose and riding with what they have.
