  1. I suffered through the Jets/Washington game this week on my second screen. Haskins is awful but McLaurin did have a lengthy catch called back on a penalty (IIRC about 60 yards).

    Based on what is on our waiver wire, he is better than most players available in terms of upside and WAS has the 8th  best PPR schedule left ROS including good matchups in weeks 12, 15 and 16 (DET, PHI, NYG).

    JuJu is hurt, also has awful QB play, has a below average schedule left and only one favorable matchup left in week 16 against NYJ.

  2. I read the rule as if it is in the last 2 minutes AND it meets one of these criteria:

    an interception by an opponent;

    a fumble or backward pass recovered by an opponent or that goes out of bounds through the opponent’s end zone;

    a scrimmage kick touched by the receiving team and recovered by the kicking team; or

    a disqualification of a player.

    Such plays may be reviewed regardless of whether a foul is committed on the play that, if accepted, would negate the on-field ruling.

    The Replay Official may only challenge a play until the next legal snap or kick. The Replay Official may consult with a designated member of the Officiating department at the league office regarding whether to challenge a play.

    Maybe I am unable to decipher the rule. Are you saying that ANY play can be reviewed at the officials discretion within the last 2 minutes?

  3. Late in the game, Rivers tried to hang on to a ball which hit the ground and was ruled a fumble on the field. The Chargers recovered it and the call was reviewed and reversed and called an incomplete pass.

    My question is why was that reviewed by the booth? I thought a fumble ruling was only reviewed when there was a change of possession.

    Here is the rule on NFL.com that explains when an official review can happen.

    ARTICLE 2. REPLAY OFFICIAL REQUEST FOR REVIEW

    Only the Replay Official or the Senior Vice President of Officiating or his or her designee may initiate a review of a play:

    that begins after the two-minute warning of each half;

    throughout any overtime period;

    when points are scored by either team;

    that is a Try attempt (successful or unsuccessful); and

    when on-field officials rule:

    an interception by an opponent;

    a fumble or backward pass recovered by an opponent or that goes out of bounds through the opponent’s end zone;

    a scrimmage kick touched by the receiving team and recovered by the kicking team; or

    a disqualification of a player.

    Anyone brave enough to start him this week?

    Tempted to but think I am starting Golden Tate instead. If Finley isn't awful, CIN has a great string of games from week 11-14. Hoping he comes out healthy and Finley is only slightly below average instead of horrible so I can roll him out against Oakland week 11.

  5. Assuming Case Keenam comes back and is healthy the rest of the year, what would you do with him? Contemplating dropping this week to pick up a TE to cover the bye but his upcoming schedule looks so inviting after the bye. Looks like only one "bad" matchup against GB according to FBG but they have been exposed lately (allowing over 300 yards average over the last 5) .

    At this point he is a luxury for me and likely won't ever start him but not sure I want him on an opponents lineup.

    Would love a link. Tuesday's is usually a players' day off, but injured players do report to the training room. I don't see any news, but it's often hard to find authoritative sources for daily practice news, especially on a players' day off.

    Regardless, definitely a situation to monitor as the matchup against the Lions this weekend looks solid for whoever is going to be in that backfield for the Chiefs.

  7. I'll add:

    I am somewhat disappointed with the scheme to date. I imagined more of a Jim Johnson, constant pressure from all angles type plan from the D (not just in this game but overall). If they give up some long TD early in the games, it would be ok. The O has enough fire power to overcome. It may just be that the defensive backfield is just too over-matched to allow this. That being said, the D looks to be closer middle third instead of bottom to me which would represent some improvement.

    I dont think Ingram's dominance in the run game in the second half is that worrisome. Why not let the team down 3 scores run the ball?

    Shady definitely has something left in the tank. Could be a huge addition and I think eventually when healthy he ends up with greater than 50% of the workload.

    I posted this in another thread but I think the loss of Hill will help the team ROS and in the long run. These reps for Robinson and Hardman are huge. Watkins is going to get cut next year to free up money for Chris Jones and PM. Hopefully they can re-sign Robinson to fill that role at a fraction of the cost that they would have for Watkins ($21m).

    It can't? How about he's actually handling pain, running light drills, etc.

    I'm impatient, and I'll take the news we have with great optimism he's coming along.

    I'll also take it with a grain of salt. I'll wait until I hear he's a limited or full participant in practices before I start to get excited.

    To your point, with the emergence of Mecole and Robinson, not to mention Watkins and Kelce being solid, it is going to be interesting to see how targets are distributed when he is back on the field for gameday. Actually wondering if Hill's targets decrease given the abundance of wealth in the receiving game.

    Slight Hijack:

    Robinson seemingly stepped into Hill's role while Hardman's snap % has stayed about the same (little decrease this week). I think for ROS and long term that these weeks without Hill are actually helpful for KC. I will not be shocked at all when Sammy gets cut next year and Robinson gets an extension and moves into Watkins outside role opposite Tyreek.

    To me it sounds like he is concerned that another woman is fabricating a story about him as a potential candidate to demand money. He included pictures of her kids to illustrate that she is broke and needs money. I don't read any threats in what he sent, but others may view it differently. But people will see the headline that he THREATENED her so that's the perception people will have.

    How does putting pictures of someone's kids illustrate someone is broke again?

    I think Gordon's value is about as low as it should get right now. There have been reports that he plans to return sometime in Weeks 6-8. Financially, in makes sense to return even sooner than that.

    So with each passing week, he ought to become a bit more valuable as the ratio of expected future games missed to expected games played shrinks.

    I don't know whether public perception will catch on to that.

    This was my line of thinking, especially with the owners being 0-2. What type of value to you think it takes to get him?

  11. Circling this back to fantasy football, the Gordon owner in 2 of my leagues is 0-2. How long do you think it takes for the current Gordon to de-value Gordon to the point they will part with him at an low cost?

    It seems like we are too close to the draft and the owners are still stung by the sunk cost of a 4th or 5th round pick.

    Wait too long and they start look at the rumors of when he will come back and "I might as well keep him now since he will be back soon (by week 8/9)".

    The fact that Eckler is killing it has to help those that are looking to acquire Gordon.

    Any thoughts of acquiring Gordon? Optimal timing and cost?

    Understood.  That was one aspect of the article - just a small piece.  It was more to dispel the notion that his size was going to be a detriment when it was originally posted a few weeks ago.  I was just cutting and pasting.  The main takeaway was Waldman's analysis of his pass blocking, which regardless of his lower body strenghth (which is ridiculous, and certainly will help), was very positively reviewed in the article.

    . IIRC, he did take on the blitzer low and there was a comment about how his technique needed to improve. I guess my point was that he is a willing blocker but maybe not technically sound. One can be taught, the other is all attitude. Guess we may see how much he has learned.

  13. She said she knew someone in the Cowboys organization, maybe a relative? She announced the Zeke signing before it happened too but there were tons of indicators that was going to happen. The AB news was out of left field and 100% accurate.

    That's why I say that the Pats knew what they were getting into and didn't care. If some random announces it on Twitter via the Cowboys, one would think the Pats would have the same info.

    I find it fascinating that people were surprised that the Patriots would sign him, didn't cut him after the allegations game out, started him the first game, and continue to keep him on the roster. And I call BS on Kraft claiming they would not have signed him (that just fits the PR propaganda that they take things very seriously). They wanted to trade for him when he was a Steeler. None of this should be shocking.

    This entire outcome was predictable when the team released their initial statement on social media after the civil filing saying the league will investigate and we have no comment. That threw down the gauntlet that the team was all systems go unless somebody tried to stop them. Yet there have been COUNTLESS opinion pieces on the matter and people still trying to get the team to release AB. It was never going to end that way and still isn't going to end that way. Unless and until Brown gets charged and arrested for a serious crime, NE has hitched their wagon and they are going to press on and utilize Brown every game they can. Maybe the league will exempt him or suspend him, but Brown not playing will not be because the team suddenly grew a conscious.

    If this random lady on Twitter knew about the rape charges coming 4 days prior to the rest of the world, so did the Pats. That is my story and I am sticking to it.

    Inside info: In the upcoming days, news is gonna come out of Antonio Brown being pressed charges for Rape

  15. This woman called the AB rape 4 days before it was public. She also called something else a few days prior to happening. I'm going to say pretty credible.
