  1. What are rates going to look like in November - anyone making predictions? Just signed contract on a new build - Rural Loan.....have no idea what the interest rates are going to look like when we actually close.
  2. check dell's website to be sure your motherboard can handle 1GB sticks of ram. i don't know how old it is, but if it's more than 4 years old, there's a good chance it can't take 1GB sticks.the memory scanner on crucial's website says that it can handle 1GB in each slot for a total of 2GB. Computer is able to use up to 2048MB of RAM.
  3. Ok another question - my wife has a old Dell Dimension 2400. This thing is slow as molasses running on 256MB of RAM. I'd like to install 1GB into each slot. Does this cheap Kingston RAM from new egg look like it will serve my purposes? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820141470 Thanks Again! Edit to add: noticed that this is a stick of 512....gonna see if there is a 1GB stick thats a good deal...but still may just go with this to get it up to 1GB total.
  4. just wanted to say thanks guys. got me new RAM from newegg, took me about 30 seconds to install and now im running on twice the memory. thanks!
  5. On this memory page: http://www.computermemoryoutlet.com/Toshib...S359-memory.htmit says that the speed is PC2-4200 - does that mean it has to be that? Or will any speed work? Basically of the two links below - which one should I buy? One is PC2-4200 and the other is PC2-6400 (sorry for all the questions - i just dont want to get something that wont work) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820134687 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820104034 This should be my last question! I'm buying today.
  6. Maybe im reading it wrong but this link: http://www.computermemoryoutlet.com/Toshib...S359-memory.htm makes it sound like i can maybe install up to 2GB in EACH socket? This is confusing!!
  7. what does the (PC2 6300) or (PC2 5400) etc.... stand for? Like in this link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231156 is there a specific number i am looking for here? was thinking about the following for my Toshiba M45: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820145157
  8. That's a bit disconcerting. Most cases if you buy the 4GB it will still work but only see 2GB. With RAM so cheap that isn't the end of the world. There also might be a bios update that you could do that would enable 4GB maximum but that's a bit more involved. If you want to play it safe, 2GB will give you a nice performance bump too. Any memory offered on Newegg is going to be good -- just go with the cheapest. If Corsair, Kingston, or Mushkin is within a few bucks of the lowest, they are my preferred brands. can you direct me where to get a BIOS update? Does this cost money?Field Value BIOS Type Insyde Field Value System BIOS Date 05/18/04 Field Value Video BIOS Date 09/13/20 Field Value BIOS Manufacturer Field Value Company Name Insyde Technology, Inc.
  9. Probably, but what is the specific model of your laptop?Toshiba Satellite M45 - S359Yup, that's the right kind. But first I would check the back of your laptop for the RAM compartment and make sure both slots are accessible. It should be a rectangular door that can be opened with one or two screws. If you want to take a picture and post it I'll tell you if what you're looking at is the right thing. Also on this site: http://www.memoryx.net/tosam4me65.htmlit says 2GB Maximum Memory.....is this correct or will it accept 4?

I'll post a pic when i get a chance....there are two rectangular doors on the bottom...both with one screw.right now there are two 512 sticks in there (i know this from everest)
  11. 2 GB of RAM vs 1 GB would be a HUUUUUUGE improvement. And should be cheap. Might as well do 2X2GB for 4 GB which will give you 3.25 GB of RAM recognized by XP. 2X1GB for 2 would be well worth it.Well that leads me to a new question though? What RAM do I need...and do you have a link to a good tutorial for installing it on a laptop? Also is it possible to add two sticks to a laptop?Should I newegg it? Thanks! Is this:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231156 heading in the right direction? Probably, but what is the specific model of your laptop?Toshiba Satellite M45 - S359

  14. OK I have a Toshiba Satellite, Pentium M 2.00 GHz, 1.99 GHz, .99 GB of Ram running XP (SP3) Can I ugrade the Ram or anything on this beast? I know with laptops it is tricky....but I've heard that sometimes you can upgrade the ram pretty easily. 1. is it possible? 2. would it be a noticeable upgrade? 3. any suggestions?
