  1. Will take any win on road in division. OL is still a hot mess. Tua OK, not spectacular, made some throws when needed. Bad int. Had a really bad drop by Waddle on a drive that I felt could have led to some more points. Definitely room for improvement. Good connection with Parker throughout, that 3rd down pass that kept the 2nd TD drive alive was clutch. D was bend don't break. Came up with timely turnovers. But really didn't pressure the rookie as much as they should have. No clue on the coaching before halftime down 10-7. That was just odd. I don't like they were just settling for a field goal and running clock. Should have been pressuring to try for a TD. TD drives on opening drive of both halves and then no adjustments to keep offensive momentum will need to be improved on. In the end, get the road win though. Can't argue with that.
  2. Texas Tavern/Texas Inn is a weird iconic atmosphere but nowhere near the best burger in Virginia. Mike's Grill in Blacksburg held that title for a long time but closed in 2016. Best I've had since then is Beer88 in Lynchburg, but I am sure there is some hole in the wall up in the NoVa suburbs that is great too.
  3. Speaking of odd deaths. UNCC 49er/NBA draft pick Galen Young Family and friends across the Mid-South are remembering Galen Young, a high school and professional basketball standout who was killed when a car crashed into a home in southwest Memphis. Memphis police say a car crashed into a home on Horn Lake Road early Saturday morning, striking and killing the 45-year-old Young, who was inside.
  4. And the Seahawks won the division just last year. And the Rams went to the super bowl the year before. 2021 is a different year. You know what they say about opinions. 😄
  5. Given what we know about free agency and the draft now, what do you all think we have to see from Tua this year? Can he afford to take small step forward, or does he need to jump right into the Herbert/Burrow comparison levels? Is there a stat line? 3000 yards? 30 TDs? 3-1 TD:Int ratio? Is he going to be measured by team wins? Playoffs or bust?
  6. I think they are the 4th best team in that division to start with. If Lance is forced to play and is bad, they won't be close to the other 3. Maybe they have an easy rest of schedule, I didn't look. But they should finish behind the other 3 NFCW teams. Around 500 is likely, but like I said if they are forced to Lance early and he is bad (not ready), I could see a 5-12 team. Not probable, but could happen.
  7. Dolphins: B Should have taken Sewell at 6 as the surest bet. But if they really wanted the WR, they had to trade up. Hindsight shows the Big 3 WRs were going at 5, 6, and 11, so we would have to trade up just like Philly did. And that would have been for Smith only, who was clearly a step below Waddle and Chase in the Dolphins (and others) draft board. Following the logic, it is clear Miami traded up with the idea that Pitts/Chase/Waddle would be their target at 6 and one of the 3 would be there. I am not sure they really scouted Sewell as I suspected when they traded they expected Sewell to go at #2 or #5. Waddle, Phillips (if healthy), Holland, Eichenberg all solid picks. The TE call over a RB or C is a bit questionable. Either looking at not resigning Gesicki next year or getting a more traditional TE and moving Gesicki to a wideout role. Must have thought his value was better than any RB or C on the board. Late round probably should have made a move to grab Khalil Herbert. Feel like they missed on the RB. But not a value position, so we will see if they can make it work just by improving the OL. The whole key is Tua of course. Full off season, year more removed from surgery. He is on a 3 year window. Year 2 this season and 90% likely will get 2022 as long as he is not a total bomb in 2021. This is before you have to start working on the contract extension (big if...). That and multiple first rounders mean 2023 draft is where they will move on a QB replacement should it come to that. Who know where they will land in 2022 draft. SF will be a complete unknown with Lance at QB if they move to him quickly. Could be a complete disaster in a really tough division. Would not be surprised if Miami has a top 5 pick in 2022 again.
  8. They would have to stay at #12 to keep both picks next year (not draft at #3). I don't think Pitts at 12 was an option even before he started getting the hype. Assuming Philly drafts a WR at 6 (Waddle), likely have to do the trade to 10 to even get Smith as NYG would grab him at 11. I presume Miami had Pitts/Chase/Waddle as the 3 candidates to take at #6 when they made the trade back up.
  9. If you are going, best check in advance what type of birth certificate will be accepted. Did mine on second try after getting hit with my birth certificate was not good enough on the first try. Not sure if every state is as anal about it as my DMV was, my BC was clearly not a reproduced copy, had signatures, and looks as old as I am. But it didn't have a seal or watermark so it was up to me to go back to my original state of birth and have them produce another copy with a seal on it, for another fee of course.
  10. I always enjoyed the fun style pop music-rap of the late 80's. DU, Young MC, Tone Loc, Fat Boys (lost Markie earlier this year). Never got into the hard-core though. RIP Humpty.
  11. Yep, thought I was the only one. I love the funky beat of the song, but his voice is so awful on that one song it turned me off on a lot of Prince stuff in general.
  12. Huey gets derided a lot for being "commercially 80's" (maybe too square to be hip ... hehe). But his stuff holds up pretty well. I still like most of it.
  13. Also of note regarding this song is the 2004 remix of the song by swedish DJ Eric Prydz into a club dance song. Winwood redid vocals for the song, which probably no one would even remember, except for the NSFW video which made every male want to take an aerobics class. I won't post video link (in case there is issues of NSFW stuff being linked) but it is available on youtube, Eric Prydz Call on Me.
  14. I'm a wabbit slayer. And a guitar player. Kill da wabbit. Kill da wabbit. (sorry could not resist...look up Ozzy Fudd if you don't get it).
  15. Was working in DC in summer of 2004. Those things were everywhere for about a month. Then nothing but carcasses.
  16. I honestly can't recall hearing this song on the radio ever. But it is still grilled into my mind. The grocery store I worked at while in college used to play soft pop songs from some cassette player that looked like an old 8 track from the 70's. They only had about 3 tapes and most of it was complete dreck and I just tuned out. This song was actually decent and I remember noting the passing time by counting how many times I heard it on repeat. 6 hour closing shift when you were back stocking shelves with no one around was usually 3 or sometimes 4 since the tape was like an hour 40 in length.
  17. Had first shot a month ago with no side effects other than sore arm at injection point. Got second dose (Moderna) Monday. Felt fine the rest of the day other than a slight chill for about a half hour that evening that I dismissed. That night at 2 am (about 12 hours after shot), woke up with the most severe chills I have had in a long time. I had to put 3 layers of clothes on to get comfortable. Did not sleep well after that. Tuesday morning was hard with a few body aches, and very tired (likely due to restless night). No fever. Took some Tylenol. By noon the body aches were gone. The biggest effect Tuesday was my body temperature, I would get cold chills then a few hours later, peeling clothes off because I was hot. Wednesday morning now and I feel pretty much normal. Very slight soreness on arm (shot location). Just happy to be done with it and go get my free Krispy Kreme donut.
  18. Norton Juster... a name that might not be instantly recognizable. But he wrote a children's book called The Phantom Tollbooth. My God, I recall reading that book so many times as a youngster, I think the pages started to fall out. Berkeley Breathed, the creator of Bloom County, admitted that this book was his first childhood inspiration, so much that he named Milo Bloom and his son after the main character in the book.
  19. At first I was thinking no way on the ages. Then I was depressed because damn I'm old.
  20. I was just thinking the same thing: Hank Aaron, Lou Brock, Joe Morgan, Al Kaline. Whitey Ford, Bob Gibson, Tom Seaver, Phil Niekro, and Don Sutton on the mound. Tommy Lasorda managing. Probably left someone out.
  21. 5 player max keeper (*=keeper), no PPR QB: Allen (bench Hurts) RB: Chubb*, Ekeler*, Swift (bench Gaskin, Ahmed, Lindsey, IR: Barkley*) - 2 rb slots, 1 rb/wr flex WR: Ridley*, Johnson, Cooper* (bench McLaurin, Anderson, Fuller, Meyers) - 2 wr slots, 1 wr/te flex TE: Fant (bench Ebron) DST: Chiefs (bench Dolphins) K: Rodrigo IDP: Barrett, Leonard, Bates Would not have beaten Kamara team or Diggs team this week, thankfully both were in the consolation bracket. Survived mid-season RB injury crisis, at one point had 5 IR RBs and only Lindsey and Ahmed playing. Allen MVP.
  22. Michael Vick was must watch TV in 2002 and it was rare that FOX showed someone besides the Redskins, so I remember watching this game. Vick had some really bland, no-name receivers though. Peerless Price, Brian Finneran, one of the Jacksons. And this guy popped up from nowhere in this game. I think the next time I heard his name was when he passed away earlier this year.
  23. Quentin McCord https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200212220atl.htm 7-182-1 (career numbers 23-427-1, so that is 30% of his receptions, 42% of his yards, and 100% of his TDs).
  24. Figured with mail in and pre-voting, I would be safe showing up before 7 am to beat normal crowds by 15-30 minutes. Nope. 1 hour 10 minutes in line. When I left, the line was just as long at 8:00 as it was at 6:50 am.
  25. It is not hard to find HOFers with horrible games in their first few starts. And you can just as easy find "busts" who looked pretty darn good in one of their first few games. The only thing that can be taken from this performance right now, is that it was his first career start. Here is a another QB in his second career start (his first wasn't anything significant either): 12-24, 86 yards, 0 TD, 0 Int, 3.58 yds/att, 4 sacks. 1 fumble. His team lost by 20 and only produced 149 yards of offense in that game, so they probably could have used him to produce just a bit more and not just sit on a lead. He wasn't even coming of a major injury either. What a bust. (Tom Brady)
