  1. Last one for a while. Just killing a few minutes before leaving to catch the new Bond film... Close your eyes Look deep in your soul Step outside yourself And let your mind go Frozen eyes stare deep in your mind as you die Close your eyes and forget your name Step outside yourself and let your thoughts drain As you go insane, go insane J
  2. This one always reminds me of my missus. With fingernails that shine like justice And a voice that is dark like tinted glass She is fast, thorough, and sharp as a tack She's touring the facilities and picking up slack I want a girl with a short skirt and a long, long jacket J
  3. It's highly appraised when the hell is raised So demanding and commanding that you all stand dazed The unbelieving receiving prophecy so true I cut the head off the Devil and I throw it at you My mighty mic control, already brought his soul The rock king is so bold when he rocks and roll A black hat is my crown, symbolizin' the sound Signifyin', we won't play around, bust it! J
  4. When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse Out of the corner of my eye I turned to look but it was gone I cannot put my finger on it now The child is grown The dream is gone J
  5. … Put me in the hospital for nerves And then they had to commit me You told them all I was crazy They cut off my legs, now I'm an amputee, gosh darn you J
  6. I've currently got no solutions for you but you're not alone in your predicament. I'm dealing with the same situation with my daughter. Dropped her off at college last Friday and she was already in tears before classes even started on Monday. It's been nightly calls/texts telling us how miserable she is and how she made the wrong decision. We keep emphasizing there's no way she could already know it's the wrong decision as she hasn't even completed her first week of classes and has yet to learn the name of anyone on her floor outside of her roommate. I keep hoping, much like some of the anecdotes above, that some type A personality will take her under their wing so she doesn't feel so isolated, but it's gonna be hard cause she's only barely leaving her dorm room. I'll continue to monitor this thread for suggestions and if we experience any breakthroughs I'll make sure to post them, but until then, take comfort in knowing your not the only family struggling with this issue. J
  7. Honestly, I'm a poor judge of what does/does not become popular. Since the digital revolution, I rarely listen to OTA radio. I stream almost everything and use algorithms to determine my playlists instead of relying on DJ's to tell me what's good music. I think the playlist we've created is an excellent example of just how limited "Top 40" is to the current musical scene. If I had to guess, I'd say we selected maybe a dozen or so songs that made their way on a "Top 40" list, while the others, which were just as good if not better, failed to chart. I've give this playlist about a half-dozen listens now and I think it's one of the better playlists I've been a part of these past few years. Lot's of good music from a variety of sources. But if you're asking if I think more people should listen to "Royal Blood"? Hell yes! I think their new album is one of the best released this year. I'm actually kind of surprised no one drafted "Typhoons" or "Oblivion", which are two more great tunes. Anywho...I also dished out a bunch of likes in this thread tonight to show my gratitude to those of you who selected songs that have already enriched my existence. I'm sure there will be more to come as I continue to digest this bountiful feast of musicianship. Peace! J
  8. This is it for me, boys. I'm tapping out after these selections, both of which are from the same band and were released as singles back in 2018. The band finally got around to releasing a full length album this year which included these songs making them fair game for this draft. I actually went back through the old 2018/2019 drafts to see if I had selected them back then and they were not, so they should still be fresh to you. So without further adieu, the closing picks for the Sledgehammers. SCS 15a Dead Poet Society - American Blood SCS 16p Dead Poet Society - .CoDA. Thanks for the playlist. I'll come back and try to throw some likes around as I parse my way through this beast. J
  9. I've still got a few left in the tank. I'm not as high on these songs individually as I am on the albums from which they came. I just went ahead and picked the first song from each artist's new album since they're both exceptionally listenable. I've really enjoyed putting these on in the background when sitting around and socializing with guests. They really add to the atmosphere without dominating it. SCS 11a Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio - Hole In One SCS 12p Menahan Street Band - Midnight Morning J
  10. Getting an early start on round 10. SCS 10 Black Pistol Fire - Hope in Hell For those who enjoy the Black Keys, Blue Stones, etc. Still love me some gritty, dirty rocking blues. J
  11. Busy tomorrow so getting this in early. It should improve your Saturday. I'm enjoying the playlist, thus far. Thank you. SCS 9 Jon Batiste - FREEDOM J
  12. SCS - 5AM Nothing But Thieves - This Feels Like the End Great song to capture the mood of 2020. SCS - 6PM Saint Motel - A Good Song Never Dies This song fits the theme of this draft. J
