  1. Late 60s to early 90s were awesome IMO (even with that disco hiccup along the way). Late 90s and 00s - I could delete that from musical history and not shed a tear.
  2. If you come around here, I make 'em all day I get one done in a second if you wait.

  4. I was surprised GNR was still around. I searched the spreadsheet and thread for them. Duran Duran I didn't think would be too high on anyone's list though but I really like both albums.

  7. One of my favorite bands. I don't know everyone's musical taste in this draft but I didn't want to wait 40+ albums to see if they came back to me.

  10. When someone asks you if you're a God, you say YES! A strange game. The only winning move is not to play. This stuff will make you a gosh darned sexual Tyrannosaurus - just like me. Relax, would you? We have seventy dollars and a pair of girls underpants. We're safe as kittens.
  11. Crazy work day - seriously. Skip me if I'm not putting up a pick immediately. I don't want to hold things up. I'll add links in a bit but Round 1: INXS - Kick 85-89 INXS - Shabooh Shoobah 80-84 Round 2: Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes 80-84 Violent Femmes - Why do Birds Sing 90-94
  12. Sorry - I'm here. I thought we weren't starting until today. You can skip me until I make a pick.
  13. Double blind studies? If you really are a stats guy, it should be pretty easy to determine what is safer - vaccinated vs. unvaccinated.
  14. Agree here. If you want to roll the dice with COVID, take hydroxychloroquine, ivermectin, inject yourself with bleach etc. etc. well, that is your hill to die on (perhaps literally). Just let me and all of my family take the vaccine so I don't have to deal with all the halfwits on the hill.
  15. How is it relevant in your mind? I'm really lost on what hoops you are jumping through to think that study shows anything meaningful in regards to mask efficacy.
  16. Not where I live - at least not when there was a mask mandate. But that is complete irrelevant in regards to mask efficacy.
  17. Seriously? You teach stats and that is what you came up with? The paper literally states: Our results should not be taken to imply that masks can prevent only 10% of COVID-19 cases, let alone 10% of COVID-19 mortality. Our intervention induced 29 more people out of every 100 to wear masks, with 42% of people wearing masks in total. The total impact with near universal masking–perhaps achievable with alternative strategies or stricter enforcement–may be several times larger than our 10% estimate. Additionally, the intervention reduced symptomatic seroprevalence more when surgical masks were used, and even more for the highest-risk individuals in our sample (23% for ages 50-60 and 35% for ages 60+). These numbers likely give a better sense of the impact of our intervention on severe morbidity and mortality, since most of the disease burden is borne by the elderly. Where achievable, universal mask adoption is likely to have still larger impacts. Either you are trolling or really don't know much about statistics. I find it comical the supposed stats guy comes to the literal conclusion the paper says not to. The study is practically worthless regarding the efficacy of masks. At best you could say it is a study to see if less than 1/2 of a population masking up is good enough to prevent transmission. The broad brush answer is: not really.
  18. I don't think it is going away. I wouldn't mandate masks at all if vaccines were available to everyone. Once that is done then let it rip. The argument isn't going to be about parents that don't let their kids get vaccinated - that has been happening for years. Some irresponsible/misinformed/uninformed parents don't give their kids vaccines all the time.
  19. Completely agree. The only caveat I would put on this is that I think this is totally normal behavior once we can get kids under 12 vaccinated. Once I don't have to worry about my son (who I spent a week with in the ICU due to RSV a couple years back) because I can practically guarantee he, even if infected, will have a mild or asymptomatic experience due to age + vaccine - then live and let live. Humanity has been rather spoiled in recent decades in that there haven't been many horrible, easily communicable diseases. I think there is an unreasonable expectation that COVID needs to be snuffed out before returning to normal. However, I think it is even more unreasonable that people can't wait a little longer to let all of those that want protection (since it exists) to be able to get it before giving the all clear.
  20. Kind of - but not as a refutation to my initial post. The study is useful and informative but it isn't a great study to decide the efficacy of masks - even though a lot of people were technically involved.
  21. That's fine. I mean, it still doesn't change the fact that the study being used to refute the mountain of evidence stating masks are effective got on average 42% of the population to wear a mask. I didn't catch if they counted asking someone walking around to put on a mask for or against.
