Updated tourney record 7-2-1 (+6.05)
7-5-1 (+4.35)

I'll be honest, the game went great for what I bet on.Β  Denmark got the early lead, that should lead to more Belgian attacks.Β  Both goals came from MF'ers from open play, just not Tielmans.Β  Oh well, damage was minimal, but one more corner would have been terrific.

Last game is pretty straightforward to me

Netherlands o1.5 (-140) 2.8 to win 2.0

Austria really had nothing in the finally third in the first game, until Arnatouvic came on late and well, he's unavailable for this game.Β  I see that they dropped Kaladzjic for Gregoritsch, but to me, the real issue the first game was having Alaba playing CB.Β  Sure he's capable enough, but you're not doing the attack any favors having your second most dynamic playmaker in the back back.Β  I think Sabitzer is the class of this team, but he's not really a forward either, so Gregoritsch will need to most the heavy lifting, with the other players coming off of him.Β  Doable, yes, but that's not a world class striker like a Lukaku by any means.Β  I don't think he'll trouble the Dutch defense much, especially with deLight back now.

So, without much worry, I think you'll see the Dutch swarm into the attack.Β  And while they won their first game, it was by no means comfortable as they blew a 2 goal lead, and had to score a late one.Β  This team surely has some goals in it, and Depay didn't score the first game so I'd expect him to be hungry for goals in this one.Β  I really think this team is going to be a handful here with Dumfries and Blind also loving to get into the attack.Β  Backline for Austria is okay, but not great and Bachmann certainly didn't impress me in the first game as he fumbled a goal away and was less than sure on a few other occasions.

I do think the Dutch win comfortably but I'm not all that fond of laying a handicap in a tournament game. I'll be more than happy to see them put two in the net by half time and then not have to sweat them throwing up on themselves late.

Great info; you have very informative posts.

This brings up an interesting question to me.Β  Suppose in the same sequence of play, a guy simulates a foul in the box (which would be a yellow), and then later, as here, a player is legitimately fouled in the box.Β  If the yellow were called, the play would be dead and the the ensuing penalty wouldn't have happened.Β  So shouldn't VAR have looked at both?

Who's on first?

I think you have to replace Messi with Memphis in the top-5 list for actually converting a PK in Euros.Β

A non-call / non-card forΒ simulation may not be reviewable.Β  I don't think VAR could review that in the PL.

In this scenario wouldn’t the ref have not called the dive so no yellow could be given. Β

I was thinking it was considered misconduct but honestly I don’t know.
Looking at the laws of the game - its murky.

Its an offense that warrants a yellow card, and when called would result in an indirect free kick.

β€’Β commits any other offence, not mentioned in the Laws, for which play isΒ stopped to caution or send off a player

There are different circumstances when a player must be cautioned for unsporting behaviour, including if a player:

Cautions for unsporting behaviour

β€’Β attempts to deceive the referee, e.g. by feigning injury or pretending to have been fouled (simulation)

I suppose if it does not get called in the first place, the player has not deceived the official, and thus its down to whether he attempted to do so, or simply fell awkwardly. Β I think in a blatant situation, the ref would call it - so in a review, its unlikely to be a clear and obvious error.

things have to fall an incredibly specific way but here's hoping Hungary vs Germany has two 0-point teams battling for a possible playoff spot (and possibly even with a draw for one of them) to end the group stage.

The fun goofy scenarios pan out so seldomly :(

I didn't realize how loaded Netherlands is.Β  There's a few weaker positions, but a team that can bring Ake off the bench to help shut down the game is pretty deep.Β Β

They almost never lack for talent but it’s always a question of cohesion and tactics. Β So far they look really dangerous and are playing well together.Β  I love this Dumfries kid. Β Ole, sign him up!

Go Scotland we may not have a chance but at least we are realistic and don't pretend our team is something it's not.Β

7-5-1 (+4.35)

Netherlands o1.5 (-140) 2.8 to win 2.0
8-5-1 (+6.35)

Yesterday was pretty terrific in that the games pretty much played out as anticipated, and I was able to hit both of my big bets fairly easily which led to a profitable day.Β  This is very rare.Β  Today is a new day, and the games today are much more difficult to cap, imho, so buyer beware

First match up the bet is:

Sweden to win (-120) 0.6 to win 0.5

I actually played this last night at slightly better odds, but when I woke up I have seen the odds have drifted so I'll use these for my record, not that anyone cares.

This one is a pretty straight forward.Β  Given two sides, I'm going to back the team I feel has better quality.Β  Sweden drew Spain 0-0 first game out, and I only saw bits and pieces, but from what I saw it was park the bus time.Β  And that is just fine against a superior Spain team, without Zlatan, in difficult weather conditions (hot).Β  Sweden has a very good and experienced team with quality all over the field.Β  Isak is a very highly rated striker in Spain and is being chased by a lot of big clubs.Β  Forsberg and Larsson very experienced, and Lindeloff is terrific cb.Β  They do have their weaknesses, but Slovakia is not a team good enough to be able to exploit them.Β  One thing I will note is that Sweden without Zlatan does suffer from lack of goals, so that is an issue for sure, especially if they fall behind, we may well be drawing dead.

Slovakia was a bit of a shock winner in their first match out against Poland.Β  They were not expected to win, were outplayed, but pulled out a result and in a tourney like this a win is HUGE not just for advancing but for confidence.Β  A team not full of household names, I'm familiar with about 1/2 the team here and none of them strike me as world class although Skriniar did play a prominent role with Serie A winner Inter and Hamsik has terrific hair and tatts, but is about 4-5 years past his prime.Β  I'll take the better side to win here for small bet.

g'luck if playing
