So Spain advance unless they give up two goals to Slovakia who don't look likely to score any.  But to finish top of the table they need Poland to score twice, right?

7 - Martin Dubravka has scored the seventh own goal of EURO 2020;

this is as many own goals as were scored at the 2000 (1), 2004 (2), 2008 (0), 2012 (1) and 2016 (3) editions of the tournament combined. Calamity.

 
I'm jumping ahead but unless Slovakia score twice (and Portugal don't lose by 3) then the 3rd place teams would be:

A, C, D, F           

Which would give us:

Belgium vs. 3rd Group F
Netherlands vs. Czech Republic
Sweden* vs. Ukraine
France* vs. Switzerland

The favorite in the bottom half of the draw may be the Group F runner-up. 

*I'm making the assumption Sweden and France hold on - also, I'm a moron and may have all of this wrong.

ETA - yes, I'm unfairly writing off Hungary.

My man Koke has been all over this match.  I think he was asked to put in 60 mins of hard work, knowing that he'll get pulled after spending the energy in the heat.  Finally Spain is playing the balls that they should have been playing from the jump.  No need to work the ball into the box, make those passes from 30 yards out to get the defense respecting the longer ball and balls in the air instead of everything on the ground.

I don't think any team has registered a shot on goal against Spain thus far.

cannot assume F if Portugal gets blasted by France.

Right now Ukraine looking good.

Finland moves to the bubble (which pops for Slovakia) if Spain's lead expands to 3.

When he frist came on he rang of Lampard's boy and didn't impress me much with his play.  He came across to me as the next Lingard (works hard and can score when given space but not someone that was going to break down a def and run the attack for you like KDB).  As the pundits started to pile on the love, I tried watching more of him.  (Also Chelsea's marketing team didnt help him when the only video they seemed to show was his goal vs United, which was a De Gea howler and nothing Mount did).  Again he seemed to drift in and out of games and gets cheered for the one good play he made.  

In game 2 of the Euros, I specifically watched him to see why he got the love.  He didn't fit with the team.  He started as a 10 with 2 holders behind him.  As one moved forward, MM would slide left and end up in Sterling or Shaw's space.  He would isolate himself on the left and take any space for the others to work in while leaving the center open.  No connection from right to left where he should be.  

I will admit I need to watch him more, but I haven't seen why he gets so much love. Solid player but not the generational talent some claim.  Yet.
 I am obviously missing something since he does get rated by some managers.  But then again, Moyes/LVG/Jose all loved them some Fellaini.  And we can all agree that was bad.

Sure, but they would need to lose by 4 right?  Also, I edited my post to say I'm totally (and unfairly) writing off Hungary.  After the way they played against France they don't deserve that but I just think Germany take care of business today.

Honestly, for the purposes of the round of 16, having Finland and Slovakia out is probably a decent result.  Although, the top half of the draw will be loaded based on my assumptions - France, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, Spain.

 
Yeah Portugal would have to lose by 4 while Germany wins and that would be Finland's ticket (with Slovakia now down by 3).

Finland also makes it if BOTH Germany and Portugal lose by at least 4 :lmao:

Now if Portugal manages a point  Germany would be out with any loss to Hungary.

They are talking about it on the broadcast but Poland seems to have never recovered from that red card in the first match (which I think was weak and a bad red card).  They may be the underachiever of the group stages.

I think given the groups and their relative rankings Poland seems to have under-performed the most.  Turkey was picked last and Russia 3rd.  Poland would have been my pick for 2nd behind Spain.

And England get F2, so France, Germany or Portugal.  (or Hungary in one scenario)

 
Interesting looking at the bracket.

Many would have thought England got a bad draw by winning their group - and having to face France/Germany/Portugal - but, they will play that game in London, and if they win - they have a pretty easy path to the Final - also in London.

The other side of the Bracket: Belgium, Italy, Spain, Winner of F (and 3rd place of F*)

*barring a France rout

Side A

Italy v. Austria
Belgium v. F 3rd

Spain v. Croatia
F 1st v. Switzerland

Side B

England v. F 2nd
Sweden v. Ukraine

Wales v. Denmark
Netherlands v. Czech Republic
