Spurs have no options at the moment - only injuries.  Poch went with the best healthy line-up he had.  Sissoko is coming off a groin injury - so no sure bet to be able to go 90.  Winks just had surgery.  Lamela is perma-injured.  Kane is out.  Son was suspended.  Aurier is injured.

Add to that that everyone who is healthy now is having to play twice a week as they fight for top-4 also.
And now add Vertongen to that as well.

Eriksen played horrible this game and that was the last thing they needed with all those injuries.  Really needed an ascendent game out of him here and he was the opposite.

I think 3 at the back left Wanyama with way too much to do

He really hasn't been playing well of late and I think the raw number of minutes is getting to him. He has played the full 90 in the EPL in every game this calendar year. He's missed 7 total minutes of UCL knockouts.

He looks out on his feet right now and with this being nut cutting time it's really hard to give him a rest.

Lack of depth is killer this time of the year.

fun game so far.  I love that Liverpool is not parking the bus as a neutral.

### #### Messi, he is as fast now as he was at 19.  It is unnatural.

Liverpool putting shoulders and bumps in after the ball is gone.

Milner should be booked for hitting Messi.  Messi should be booked for going full Neymar.

They're running Barca off the pitch in the 2nd half, and then... BOOM.

If Liverpool score I still like their chances of going through though.

Messi could not have placed it anymore perfectly, both the bend around the wall and the upper 90.

How did Salah hit the post from there?

Great attacking play both ways today.   This is how Barcelona have played all year, at least without Dembele.  He must still be hurt.  They allow enough opportunities in a lot of ways, but Pique-Lenglet-Ter Stegen shut a lot down and the counter is very fast.  Liverpool probably unlucky on a couple of hits.

538's shot based goals had it 2.6 - 1.9 for Barca.  Non-shot-based goals were 2.7 apiece.

Such great soccer.  Don't even care that much they lost.  Love watching both those teams.

Liverpool has been superstar level attacking with 1st grade level finishes.

Just got through Messi's free kick. He is a golden god..

Liverpool were really good- kept great shape throughout and absolutely went to to toe. But...their final touch was just terrible all night. Couldn't hit a single useful cross or quality shot. Robinson in particular was just useless- and he did fantastically well all game getting into great spots before flailing his crosses. And he wasn't alone. Just a few good crosses and they might have grabbed something out of it.

Dembele had a great chance in stoppage time, wide open against only the keeper, and shot weakly directly at Alisson.  Under different circumstances, that would have been what everyone was talking about today.  Probably harsh to judge him since I think he had just come on, and the score was what it was ...

Mid-table Ligue Un side Rennes beat Paris Al-Qatari in the Coupe de France final.  The domestic single for PSG is a pretty poor season's haul.

I don't know how much to trust this article but it says that Qatar are considering pulling the massive funding from the club as the club is not living up to the huge investments they have made.

It would probably be good for French football overall although it would mean the end of Mbappe in Paris.

The Qataris have been linked with Roma and a bunch of English clubs (Villa, Leeds, Newcastle)

The race for top 4 went from intense, compelling to absolute crap, and now is back to being highly intense and entertaining. It’s like a relegation battle where a draw is a huge leg up on the competition because it gets you that one point.
