So Atletico win out they are champs most likely.

ETA - I thought GD was +5 over RM - +3 makes it a tossup but RM four games are all against top-9 sides.

thought CP was more influential once he dropped into a more Mount type role and got on the ball more... but not a great game from him. too many lost touches and getting bounced off the ball too easily.

huge win for Chels though... losing points today would've made that 4th spot a battle, especially with Liverpool's win. lol kun (and not enough credit to mendy, who had started to the ground but corrected himself amazingly well to make it look easy).

not much really separated the two teams I thought, which got me thinking that next year could be really interesting with City, Chels, United all looking capable and Liverpool undoubtedly back in the thick of it when VVD gets back (if they can keep their main guys or refuel with adequate replacements).

Chelsea still needs to figure out how to beat inferior teams.  They are absolutely not a team I'd want to face if I were a top side, but they've consistently been poor against teams they should throttle.  If they can figure that out, then they'll be a tough out in the title race next year.

agreed. although I think their primary issue is their profligate finishing this year. they seem to get a lot of quality looks, but end up barely putting up 1 or maybe 2 goals... which isn't always going to be enough against good or bad sides. I still think werner is capable of 20+, alongside other guys like CP, Havertz (who is starting to win me over after not impressing at all), Ziyech, CHO, etc knocking in 10+. the system seems to support it- and tuch certainly got numbers out of his guys at dortmund.

It's not GD to break ties in la liga; it's head to head results.  Real has the tie breaker over both Barcelona and Atlético. Real is in the driver's seat now.  They win out, the title is theirs.  But as you v said, they have the hardest run-in of the teams left with games against  Sevilla (tomorrow), Athletic Bilbao, and Villarreal.  All are good teams and any of them can get points against Real. At least i hope they can.

It will obviously come down to the last match day to decide the winner.

Chelsea fans should buy the guy a gift basket or something

Sergio Kun Aguero

I would like to apologize to my teammates, staff and supporters for missing the penalty. It was a bad decision and I take full responsibility.

Good for him doing this and he should - that was a horrific penalty attempt.

That part I knew. So, where can we watch it?
It doesn't matter cause the season is almost over and they won't have La Liga, but SlingTV offers a standalone international sports package with Bein (and mostly just that) for $10 a month/$60 a year.

Wow...some lineup.

Chelsea fans can't be too happy about that with CL spots so nip and tuck.

You think they'll come out with more A players vs Pool?

Definitely - the Liverpool game is always going to be bigger than Leicester and fortunately for Ole he can make this decision since they've already qualified for CL next year.  If United were still having to fight for CL spot my guess is he would have balanced today with Thursday but United and their fans are probably fine trying to knock Liverpool out of CL and having Leicester take that spot.  Having said that it wouldn't surprise me if United won today and lost Thursday.

Moyes has already complained.  Chelsea, Tott, WHU, Liverpool... none can be happy about this.  Unless United win

Plus the way the FA scheduled this fiasco, Thursday, Sunday, Thursday would be normal schedule for United, so LCFC became the odd game out.  With enough space between United and LCFC this was always the game to get the rotation.

Rashford comes on and immediately the man he’s marking scores a header from the corner.
I've never understood how United decides on who marks who on corners and set pieces.  Fred and Shaw always seem to have the tallest and biggest threat.  Rashford marking someone? He's not good in the air.

Well, congrats to City for the title, it was inevitable.

But from what I saw, this lineup put in an effort and would be one that could be useful vs lower teams for rotation.  Something Ole and United will need to be able to do better next season.  Hopefully the owners invest in the club this window (if nothing more then to say sorry to the fans for the 2billion taken out of the club and the ESL)

Yeah - congrats to City fans.

I don’t really take a lot of solace out of effort from this group.  Matic and Mata need to be sold - probably De Gea too.  Need a new CB and an upgrade on Fred/McT.

I agree. They need 3 pieces: CDM, CB, and RW.

As much as I love Bailey, they need another CB to pair with McGuire.  Let Bailly and Lindelof be the B team.

Another attacking player (RW prefered) will push everyone to be better while allowing a rest.  Rashford is going to fall apart before he hits 25 the way he rushes or is rushed back.

McFred offers nothing vs lower teams, no creativity, no cutting edge passes and they eliminate use of more creative players since they both have to be there together.

Hopefully Jose will take Matic to Roma.... De Gea's time is up for sure.  Mata staying or leaving makes no difference to me.

Sell: Matic, De Gea, Jones, Lingard, Pereira. Send James on loan (Let Amad take that spot).

Yes - but that is the kind of rotation I would expect with 4 games in 10 days.  This match just happened to be in the middle - I don't think the choice was made as a result of the opponent.

Would have been curious to see the rotation if Liverpool was the middle of the 3 games though....

It just worked out to be LCFC which in terms of United and their season was somewhat a meaningless game. Top 4 guaranteed already, enough cushion between 2 and 3/4, and a loss putting Pool fans in tears (some even demanding a points reduction for the lineup).  Now back to normal business on Thursday.

Their setup is good to control the possession in matches against inferior teams and then go counterattacking versus the good ones.  The biggest difference there is Kante is really a counterattacking DM who really shines against the good teams where he has space once he intercepts (or maybe he just has to do it more often).  Their best offense comes from those movements.

In either case, those movement patterns are different than Werner saw at RBL, so I sort of wonder if he's just not comfortable finishing those slightly different runs/angles especially with outside backs providing the dedicated width (it's essentially forcing him into spaces he wasn't in previously.  More importantly, I also wonder if he is really opening space for others especially against inferior teams to break defenses down.  He just doesn't seem (key word "seem") to pull defenders out of position or maybe he is, but the "2" don't fully exploit it.  Point being, there's something missing between the interplay/movement in the 3 dedicated attackers.

Believe it or not, both the oddsmakers and 538 still have Liverpool with a 25-30% chance of getting in.

Leicester still has two tough games left - was 3 but they got a huge break with United's fixture congestion.  Chelsea and Tottenham matches left.  Chelsea's games aren't exactly easy - Leicester, Arsenal (today) and Villa.

If Liverpool win tomorrow they look good to win out and that gives them a decent shot.

These two matches between Leicester and Chelsea are huge for Leicester.

Leicester 66 - @ Chelsea, Tottenham
Chelsea 64 - Arsenal, Leicester, @ AV
WHU 58 - @ Brighton, @ West Brom, Southampton
Liverpool 57 - @ United, @ West Brom, @ Burnley, CP
Tottenham 56 - Wolves, AV, @ Leicester
Everton 55 - @ AV, Sheffield, Wolves, @ City
Arsenal 52 - @ Chelsea, @ CP, Brighton

If my math is correct:

Leicester definitely have a tough road but its in their hands.  They need 2 pts to stay above WHU & Everton and 4 points to stay ahead of Liverpool.

Chelsea need 4 to stay above WHU & Everton, 6 points to stay ahead of Liverpool 2 pts to stay above Tottenham

Ronaldo scores his 100th goal for Juve now scoring 100+ for 3 different clubs and his country

118 for United
450 for RM
103 for Portugal
100 for Juve

That's gonna probably be the most lopsided xG loss of the EPL season.  Chelsea could've bagged 10 with a little luck and good finishing.  Wow do they need a "real" striker.

Wow, Chelsea losing to Arsenal opens that top 4 door again....

Liverpool control their own destiny.  Next week's Leicester vs. Chelsea game makes for that.  A draw or worse by Chelsea and Liverpool beat them on points if they win out.  A loss by Leicester and Liverpool tie them if they win out and it goes to goal differential, which if Liverpool win all their remaining games, they should have the advantage.
