Wow. No idea how Spurs kept a clean sheet. Will take the 3 points. Was a dominate second half. Ange-ball is going to be fun.
Because Michael Oliver and VAR were for ChelseaSpurs?
Does Jon Moss apologize and sit the refs or is that only for Wolves?

Ok, in all fairness, outside of the obviously missed handball, the refs were fine, despite it being Oliver. United was bad for most of the game and Spurs deserved the win.
Not sure Mount and Bruno can be on the field together. Hojlund needs to get playing, their lack of a striker is obvious. Garnacho and Rashford have not looked good. No one can hit one on target even if its a free header or a sitter.

ETH needs to get them playing as a team.

Re: handball. That can go either way. I don't know the correct version of the rule at this point in time, but I can see either fan base pushing for their preferred outcome. I played D, so I don't think it should have been a handball, but if Spurs had been gifted one similar, I would take it.

I don't think I've ever seen a better PK shootout with that many PKs and not a single bad one taken.
For those that didn't watch the shootout

It's even more impressive rewatching this. The number of side and upper netting PKs is insane, by defenders no less.
Wow. A good half of those were completely unsaveable.
Even the 3 that were stopped weren't bad PKs. That's 19 of 22 made, and a number of those by defenders that don't normally take them. Again, I don't think I've ever seen better before.

I just looked up some history for most PKs in a shootout before and found this. Kinda cool.

:goodposting: I feel like they now pick and choose which interpretation to use so no fan (or player) will ever know. And that is the problem and why people scream about refs and VAR. No consistency from game to game, and sometimes from min to min with some refs.

IMO, his arm was away from his body and it made him bigger, which makes it a PK.
"But his arm was in a natural position for that movement!" Lunging into block a ball involves the act of making you bigger and why you consistently see defenders with their arms behind their back. Hence PK.
"It was ball to hand!" He had time to lunge for the block. It wasn't a surprise negating the ball to hand.
"Liverpool wasn't given a PK on the handball by Chelsea". Since his hand was inside the frame of his body, he wasn't making himself bigger. But even if it should be a PK, two wrongs don't make it right.

Would United have scored it? Would it have made a difference at the end?
Who knows, but goals change games and the odds are in favor of a PK being scored. And at 1-0 United how both teams play can be affected. And with the way both played, perhaps it ends 2-1 Spurs (although if its Kane and not Richarlson Spurs probably win by 4, pk or not).

These Arse-nal kits... They look like some six-year-olds decided... We want a bright shirt, "how about electric yellow." And then, "can we add black tiger stripes? That would be so cool..." Just add a name like "Thunder Tigers" and they would be perfect in a 6yo league.

1 minute left of 9 minutes of second half stoppage time with miami down 2-1, of course Messi is going to drop a dime cross to his teammates head to send them to over time

Maybe put a guy on Messi? He had a bad first touch but no one was close enough or cared enough to trouble him.
It is unacceptable. Cincy subbed out all its best offensive players to lock the game down. I would have a hard time not breaking something in the locker room after this game if I was the coach. The guy closest to Messi didn't even try to close him down or make the cross harder to hit.

What a dream for MLS. I feel like we’re witnessing one of the greatest sports/business transactions ever.
the really strange part is that WWE could not have scripted it any better.

Even if one wanted to hope for the best for exposure for MLS, you would have been called a bit crazy to come up with all these amazing endings...

Not that it matters really but it is still kind of funny that after all these games Messi still has not played an MLS game yet. And with all the minutes he has been playing, it would not shock me if he may be rested for the first MLS game (when ever that is for Miami).

Come on.

I mean, it's an amazing pass. But then SIX Red Bull defenders literally stop playing. Any one of them could have trailed Messi toward the goal and cut the return pass out. It's ridiculous.

his whole play... just insane- especially the pass. but also including the burst to get open for the goal. (yeah- granted, nobody bothered tracking.. like at all).

I think Alba's contribution to this goal is being marginalized because of Messi. That was an insanely athletic play he made, especially at his age.

I think they're just stunned. You're thinking "Ok, we've got this locked down." And then Alba makes a ridiculously high IQ late run in the box, and of course Messi is waiting for it all along and your entire paradigm of what you're defending has to shift.

I didn't realize that was Alba... thought it was some young turk just trying to get the ball somewhere near messi. amazing play by him
