I kid. I think Spurs are a perfect team to glom onto. They're good, but never win... So if/when they do, you can be one of those long suffering fans who finally got to see it happen. And it won't be because they spent unlimited amounts of money.

Plus, they usually play a pretty decent style of soccer to watch- so even as a neutral, they're a fun watch.
Same reason I started following Spurs back in 2012… still waiting.

There you go, @KarmaPolice ... Another happy customer.

What do you want to know about Spurs?

The inverted FB system is not terribly complicated, and it really does appear to be the same as how most teams play - just in terms of seeing the players on the pitch. the two areas where its a bit different: 1) the build up from the back. The fullback will move inside (and ahead of) the center backs - to provide a passing outlet, while the wingers will come deeper to be the wide outlet pass. (Sonny and Brennan Johnson). Nothing terribly interesting going on here - just changes the passing triangles a little bit, and overloads the middle.

The other area where Spurs play a little differently with the FBs - they will make "underlapping" runs in attack. Most teams have FBs who make overlapping runs, where they will make runs on the outside of the wide forward. Spurs fullbacks make their runs to the inside of the wide forward. Again, to the naked eye, it still looks like players in the same spots as every other team - just slightly different on who is covering which areas of the pitch.

If you are really interested in talking more about Spurs, Spurs tactics, or understanding the futile nature of supporting Spurs - I am a lot more active over at SpursCommunity.com - very similar to this place, but a lot more focused on soccer (football), Spurs, and then everything else. Let me know if you decide to sign-up, I can help speed the registration process.

Yeah, i was going to try to catch a bit on Peacock today after work. I usually just ignore the results and try to catch the replays.

Laugh emoji.

There's nothing more spursy than humiliating City and then dropping games to teams they "should" beat (Burnmouth isn't an easy out though)

One of these days...

Walk away now. It's not too late. You don't have to get sucked in.
Lol. Missed this one - it's too late. I already have favorite players, a new favorite podcast, and am swearing during matches. I was watching random matches anyway, and it's more fun having a team than just randomly watching what is on.

"MLS Cup final sees 47 percent drop in broadcast audience, worrying trend since Apple deal"

Seems kind of expected no? If you put the games somewhere that half you're audience can't watch, half your audience won't watch.

Iwobi taking two for the team there. Oof.

ETA: Antonee has been very good in this game. Salah turned him inside out a couple times, but he's held up really well overall defensively and been a menace going forward with an assist or two (I think both of them are his).

Russell Martin is surely getting sacked today or tomorrow morning at latest. Gave Kamaldeen Sulemana his premier league debut then subbed him off 15 minutes in with Southampton down 0-3 at home. Martin reportedly went into the tunnel after Spurs 4th goal so he missed the 5th just before HT.

I was watching highlights- what was the red card for in the Liverpool-Fulham match?
I read it was a dangerous tackle.

And look at you today!
:bag:

I totally misunderstood the highlight people then, and thought they were saying it was on the defender for kicking away the ball on the lob shot at the end. I can't keep track of players yet.

Yeah, I got home from work, poured a pint and enjoyed an actual Spurs win. Hell, I was watching a random Bundesliga match yesterday as I saw they have those on Disney+ with my ESPN+ add on.

No, it was denial of goal scoring opportunity.
Now I am confused. Was in on the tackle outside the box, or the defender kicking the lob shot away?
Robbo fouled the player as he was in on goal - that is a Denial of an obvious goal scoring opportunity - and Red Card by definition.

They took a look at offside in the buildup, but it was a pretty obvious Red Card offense.

I am surprised the board made it to the end of the match before sacking him tonight, kind of figured they would sack him at halftime and leave with the rest of the crowd.

Well this is all kinds of fun. Vermont (yes UVM) wins the College Cup on a Golden Goal

UVM has a soccer team?

Wow!! Considering all the powerhouse schools out there, have to figure this is similar to Leicester winning the PL. Amazing for them.
I believe this was the schools first ever NCAA Final in any sport, much less a championship. If I understood correctly they were not even ranked coming into the tournament.

Pretty cool!

Yeah. I don't use Apple TV for anything else so don't even realize when there are games on to watch. Mistake to put almost all of your games on there.

Apple TV, your go-to Sports leader.

Tottenham v United in the Carabao Cup....

United with several changes and some interesting moves.

Altay Bayindir
Leny Yoro, Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez
Diogo Dalot, Manuel Ugarte, Christian Eriksen, Noussair Mazraoui
Bruno Fernandes (c), Antony
Rasmus Hojlund

Subs: Onana, Evans, Maguire, Malacia, Casemiro, Mainoo, Amad, Garnacho, Zirkzee.

De Ligt is sick. Rashford not ready to play hard?

The winner tonight would secure a spot in the Carabao Cup semi-finals, joining Arsenal, Liverpool, and Newcastle in the final four.....
