Does irisheyes show up after wins or just losses to say we're going 6-10?
No actually, all of my posting was done in the game forum yesterday. And most of it was praise & positivity (imagine that) except for the brutal play of cortez Allen. They can not continue to put that guy on the field. Martavis Bryant on the other hand get him on the field & keep him there.

Cortez has lost it. Even the play he made was suspect. Was good to see Keenan Lewis get burned yesterday, lessened the sting a little. Might as well go with McCain, Gay and Blake at this point. And hope Ike makes it back soon. No need to worry about the cast...not like it will hurt his ability to catch the ball.

Yesterday's game was crazy and wonderful, but can we expect it week in and week out? I don't think so. We just haven't shown any consistency this year, and the Ravens have just found ways to beat us the past couple years. I want to get my hopes up after dominating the team that some said was 2nd in the AFC, but I'll try to restrain myself until after the Sunday Night game.

The best part of our team yesterday was the Offensive line. Ben looked great but he still missed an open AB streaking down the field and had a couple other throws that were only catches due to the amazing work of the WRs/Heath. The O-line didn't let up a single sack against a team that had been doing well rushing the passer. Ben got enough time to pick his targets and work through the progression.

Also, I think that benching Allen completely, and not just "not starting" him will help. He has played awfully, and was targeted repeatedly for big gains and big plays.

A big plus to the play of the Oline was that Mike Adams was in there and looked like a real honest to goodness OT.

Paid him a lot of money to sit on the bench. Clearly they had a fear he would turn it around and then go Keenan Lewis on them (who shut down Jordy last night).

Pretty sure I was the only one in here predicting a Steelers victory ... Aren't I special?

What a game! Obviously the night belonged to Ben but the o-line did a great job giving him time. Also have to give props to the coaching staff who have been taking it on the chin lately.

Can't wait for Sunday Night!
I think Munchak's influence is really starting to show.

What a difference a couple weeks makes.

nfl.com 9. The Steelers are now tied with the Ravens for second place in the AFC North, just a half-game behind the Bengals. With talented rookie linebacker Ryan Shazier back in the lineup and Bryant lending the offense an added dimension, Pittsburgh has the talent to make a playoff run.

That pass to AB was off the fingertips -- you can call it a miss if you want but that was a damn nice throw. You are correct that the receivers made some amazing catches but he had a couple drops of perfect passes too so it all evened out.

Allen has all of the tools but he's lost his confidence and seems to be pressing. He may be a lost cause now but I don't think the Steelers have given up on him. I do think that he needs to be riding the bench for now though. It would be nice to have Ike back so that can happen.

One negative thing about yesterday was all the flags thrown on both defensive units, not only this game but throughout the NFL. After every play the first thing I do is look for a flag...

Just keep making predictions: 2-0 by my count.

Yeah, I would agree. When Bryant was crossing and dropped a 3rd down pass that hit him in the hands it was killer. Just glad that Ben didn't come out of that game without realizing that there are always improvements to be made.

Happy to be dead wrong. Happy that I never bet on NFL games, even so-called mortal locks. More soft teams ahead after the Ravens make this team even more interesting to watch, but giving up 34 points on defense still sticks in my craw. I can't see the Steelers really making waves behind that defensive unit, but I'll grant them a big big win against the Colts.

I too am happy to be wrong. I wasn't sure McCullers would even make the team but he's showing some ability. Still not certain what he'll become but he showed nice pad level and got push. Could be a nice rotation with McClendon.

I'm hoping that fully benching cortez allen gives this D a boost. He's let up most of our big plays this year. Timmons has gotten burned by a couple athletic TEs but Allen keeps getting targetted and torched.

McCullers also got good penetration on sunday.

Our offense is going to have to carry this team sunday though, and with Jimmy Smith out that might be possible.

I don't like the matchup for this game. That being said they have to steal this one from the Ravens or beat the Bengals twice.

Hopefully retiring Mean Joe's number Sunday fires the D up.

Correct, 4 of 5 on the road... But,

3 of those 4 road games are against 3 cellar dwellers with a combined record of 5 - 20.

The home game is after the bye vs NO followed by a road date at CIN.

I'm not sure I'm ready to complain about the schedule...

I dont see the schedule issue at all.

We just played 3 straight at home. Beat Hou, Indy and the Ravens.

Now we get 2 road games. Then a home game followed by a bye. Then 2 road games. Then finish with 2 home games.

I'm incredibly happy about last night's game, but also very worried about the next 2 weeks. We've beaten 2 teams that at least at some point in the season were thought to be top 5 in the AFC.

Now we play 2 of the worst teams in the AFC, but I could easily see them being Tampa all over again...

What a great game last night. Aside from a few thousand leaving early in the 4th quarter, the fans were great: Heinz was really rocking and I can barely talk this morning. Baltimore really didn't look very comfortable last night and lost their cool when they got behind. Suggs, Harbaugh, Flacco, etc. -- what an easy bunch to hate. Steelers-Ravens is the best rivalry in the NFL.

Now it is time to move on. The Steelers need to keep the foot on the gas pedal and not let up when facing teams that are struggling. 8-3 going into the bye would be sweet.

In the past 10 years, the Steelers have finished the season with a winning road record 3 times. Those 3 years also happen to the be the 3 years they went to the Super Bowl.

The other 7 teams looked great at home at times but suffered some embarrassing losses to bad teams on the road.

Its like they are one of two teams. You either get the road warriors that go to the Bowl, or pretenders. But the way to judge the Steelers appears to be how they do away from Heinz. If they go out next week and lose to the Jets in New York, that's the pretender team.

Early returns on the Steelers road performance is an inexplicable 31-0 loss to the Browns. That's something the pretender Steelers teams do, so I'm leaning that way, but they are 2-2 on the road so its still early.

Suggs is such a piece of sh@$# and has been for a long time. Well documented so I guess I'll leave it at that. And just f#@$%ing stupid as hell on top of it. Getting thumped and you're taunting the Steelers bench? Bright.

Saw someone mentioning somewhere how "Oh, Suggs is pretty much exactly what Joey Porter was for Pittsburgh. No big deal. *shrug*" First, I don't ever recall Porter going after dudes to deliberately hurt them(maybe I'm Alzheimer-y. Wouldn't be the first time). That crap with Blount last night was *boggle*. There's little doubt at all in my mind he wanted to hurt him, but of course I'm sure he would never spare two nanoseconds to think he could pop both of a guy's Achilles doing what he did. Second, while Joey certainly wasn't a Mensa member, I also don't recall him ever air guitaring after a freaking tackle when his team was getting dropped by 3 TDs.

I was the one who brought up the Suggs-Porter thing. I didn't intend to convey I thought they were the same in all aspects of life. The point I was trying to make is that both are good players and both are loudmouth instigators -- and that alone isn't enough to make me dislike someone. But the fact that he's clowning and cracking jokes on the sideline while his team is getting spanked is a big "WTF, FELLA"

I also believe that he intended to injury LBlount on that hit from behind, he just didn't get low enough.

I think some would point to his hit on Todd Heap after he was hurt on the previous play and lined up and there was a spike to stop the clock and Peezy blasted him.

Of Coure if heap was faking it and scored a TD Porter looks like a chump

Also, two guys who may not pull a lot of stats -- but who looked very good to me last night on Defense -- Steve McClendon and Antwon Blake. It's nice to see questionable players settle into solid roles.

If Porter intended to hurt Heap he would have hit him, instead he pushed him and Heap fell down. That is a big difference to what Suggs and Upshaw were doing last night.

Blake had an exceptional game.
He did. I expected that to go very, very poorly when he was called upon. Glad I was wrong.

Gotcha.

Yeah, I believe he totally intended to. I won't assume he intended to "kill his career" or anything, but that's kind of what I was intimating earlier about Suggs; he's such a cro-magnon that he would probably never even spare even an eye blink to think that "Hey, I could destroy both this guy's legs doing this. Not just ruin his career, but make his life suck too." But if someone ever went after HIS legs like that... I won't root for an injury to anyone, but I can't say I was disappointed when they tried to picket fence "T Sizzle" a few plays later.

He's an a$$hat of the highest magnitude.

Hoping that was his coming out party because we could certainly use an above average corner.I hate #### like what Suggs did and think that's the kind of stuff the NFL should be cracking down hard on. Not stuff like Chris Borland's tackle on Tre Mason that the announcers went out of their way to say is a penalty the refs missed. If anyone saw that you know what I'm talking about.

With that being said, it's Steelers/Ravens. There is always borderline activity going on because these two teams hate each other. I mean, James Harrison hates the Ravens so much he turned the clock back 8 years last night. When things really started to get going I half expected Hines Ward to sneak onto the field for a run play.

I did not expect them to whoop on the Ravens. This is the best I've seen Ben look in his entire career and I really think it's partly due to Martavis Bryant. That kid looks like everything Limas Sweed was supposed to be. Wheaton finally looks more comfortable too now that he doesn't have the full on pressure to be the #2. And you really can't go without mentioning Antonio Brown. Not sure there is another player that works harder then him. The only other player that I've ever seen round there game out to have elite tools all around from being an above average player surviving on hard work is Tom Brady. Guy may be the best WR in the game right now.

I just watched the replay on the NFL Network. They showed it in slo-motion and Suggs made initial contact in the so called "target zone" right in the hip area. Blount was still churning and the whistle had not blown until right at contact. I think Suggs is a doosh but that was just football.

1) it was rightfully flagged. Unnecessary roughness: unnecessarily running, diving into, cutting, or throwing the body against or on a player who (i) is out of the play or (ii) should not have reasonably anticipated such contact by an opponent, before or after the ball is dead;

2) it was a cheap shot to target the back of the legs like that, whether he hit in the hips, butt or upper thigh. Doesn't matter. With several players pushing him from the front, going low caused him to buckle which very likely could have ended in serious injury.

Blount's forward progress had stopped and he was clearly bottled up when Suggs crushed him from behind. If the whistle hadn't been blown before the hit then it was legal but still a cheap shot in my book, which is not unusual in Steelers-Ravens games.

My problem is with Sugg's explanation where he said that Blount was moving pile which is complete BS -- Blount was moving backwards at that point.

Congrats on a big win last night, Stillers fans. That was a butt-whipping. Ben's putting himself into MVP consideration.

One thing said upthread, though, has me mystified......I can understand thinking Suggs & Harbaugh are dooshes (hell, I'm a FAN and they make me cringe), but.......Flacco? How in the world does he inspire anything but yawns from opposing fans?

If I read correctly on DK on Pgh Sports, Blake was their highest graded defensive player for the game!

Every time they showed Flaccid on the bench, he looked like a zombie. It didn't seem like he was into the game at all.

Hopefully that plant from McClendon left him with ringing ears and a headache. Little payback for the cheap shot from Upshaw on 7.

I think a lot of it is more jabs to Raven fans than it is actually hate towards Flacco. After the Ravens SB win in '12, I read a lot of "MVP Flacco is clearly better than Ben" type chest thumping. granted, he did have a very nice postseason and set himself up for one hell of a payday.

But, c'mon.

I don't hate Flacco. I just hate losing to Flacco. also, #### him and his unibrow.

Bold+salary of someone like Cutler+Ben 1year left on contract=scares me what they may need to pay him.
