00's Mixtape Draft (3 Viewers)

You're ####ting me. How many millions of songs the past ten years??? My top three just went in the three picks directly before me. Impossible. :wall: :hot: :wall:

I'm going to need a minute to regroup. ####.
;)
 Guess I'll start out extremely mainstream...

1.07 Franz Ferdinand - "Take Me Out"

3:57 (96:03 remaining)
A) How is this extremely mainstream? It charted at 66 on BillboardB) This was my first major snipe. It was my 4th highest choice. Wish some of the other stuff fell to you.

Well, I thought about what my favorite song of the decade is, and I guess this is it.

1.15 Muse - New Born (6:03)

No video, but here's the song. Muse really broke out artistically with this, the lead track on their second album, which was DUMPED by Madonna's label for not being radio-friendly enough, and wasn't even released in the US until after their third album. A little proggy, a little wanky, but I still think this tune totally smokes.

Nice!. Compared to a lot of the other picks so far, it's mainstream. In my top 10 tracks for this band.

I have to step out for a bit:

1.21 - tyler_cracker - -

1.22 - D_House - -

1.23 - Professor S - -

1.24 - Eephus - -

1.25 - Bonzai - -

2.01 - Bonzai - -

2.02 - Eephus - -

2.03 - Professor S - -

2.04 - D_House - -

Had "One Big Holiday" ready to go as well. Some good picks here early on.
I had the live version of Mahgeeta pencilled into my mix--Nigel nixed that for me.
I know, it's great. For whatever reason, I usually go with studio versions of tunes on playlists and whatnot. Not sure why.
I usually do too but with MMJ I think the live versions are usually better---can't go wrong with either, though.

A) How is this extremely mainstream? It charted at 66 on Billboard
It was used in commercials and as bumper music all over the place for 2 or 3 years and is one of the most recognizable hooks of the decade IMO. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Take_Me_Out_%...n_popular_media
Agreed. It'll be one of the most mainstream songs taken.

Maybe that's an exaggeration. It's pretty mainstream, though, imo.

1.17 Outkast, "Hey Ya!"
Nice. Didn't think it would be on anyones radar this high.
:stalker: I would've been surprised if it didn't go in the first round. It was virtually inescapable for a good while.
Yeah, it got waaaay overplayed for a while, even for someone like me who loves the idea of the universality of pop music. The burnout eventually wore off and now when I hear Hey Ya, it's like meeting up with an old friend.

sorry guys. my slot came up of course right as i stepped out to lunch with by boss :|.

1.21 Radiohead - Where I End And You Begin (The Sky Is Falling In) (4:29)

95:31 remaining

and i believe Radiohead is now closed. it was a close decision between this track and "National Anthem" (though i really wanted "there there"; f u val :P ).

If I could've taken the first 3:30 of "Motion Picture Soundtrack", that might have been the Radiohead song I'd pick, probably used as my closer. Alas, I want no part of the second half of the song.
