1.19: Who Should The Tennessee Titans Take? (1 Viewer)

Going with Bloom here. With Pacman a huge questionmark and Bobby Wade going to the Vikings, the Titans have a huge hole in the return game and at WR. Enter Ted Ginn who will fill all three spots (PR, KR, WR) and can do them well. Vince needs weapons on this offense and with the depth at CB this year, they can get a servicable corner this year in one of the later rounds of Day 1. Vince has a very live arm and Ginn would be playing up to VY's strengths. The duo could be lethal, unless the Jags snag Ginn at 17.

What I look at when making a projection on the Titans' pick is that the number 1 need has to be corner back. The only way this is not the number 1 need is if the Titans change their defensive philosophy and play majority zone. This makes sense to me with Reynaldo Hill and Nick Harper as the possible starting corners. Since this won't happen...They have to go Cornerback here.Houston or Ross should be the pick

I say no receiver in the first because we have young fast receivers...Jones, Roby, Orr and Roydell Williams all are 4.4 guys and under. They just need to mature and learn the seperation techniques that make ok receivers great. I don't think anyone on the roster is a true number 1 but I do feel we can have a serviceable passing game because teams are almost forced to play zone against VY. Our passing game becoming better IMO, is more dependant upon progression by VY than our WRs. As his accuracy gets better, our WRs will learn how to settle into open holes in the zone and also learn to keep moving on busted palys

BUT if I was the GM ........I would switch to a zone based defense and pick a DE in the first if the value was right. The Titans were at the bottom of the league in sacks and in the AFC South you MUST have a pass rush

Interesting, each of you is thinking corner - with Pac's suspension, makes sense; or WR, which is probably the biggest need.

If I'm running that offense, I want a WR who has sure hands, and doesn't mind going over the middle. Elite speed is a secondary concern. I'm agreeing with Marc here, that Meachem would be better than Ginn.

Although their defense was strong last year, I want a DE who will get after the QB. Jarvis Moss is that player, and I think a better value. I'm not sure if I like Moss in the 1st and a CB and WR in rounds 2/3 or a different order, but I do think WR, CB and DE will be their first 3 picks.

If I'm on the clock, and Moss, Ginn, Meachem, and the corners are all there, I'm taking Moss right now.

:goodposting: or trade down a couple of spots and try to pick up an extra pick in the 2nd

Tough call. Since they overacheived so much last year, a lot of people have unreasonable expectations for this squad.

I think OZ nailed it in saying that the first three picks should be some combo of DE/CB/WR.

Since PacMan was also their primary kick returner, last year, I think that Ted Ginn makes the most sense.

But arguments can be made for anyone like Meachem, one of the CBs, or Charles Johnson/Jarvis Moss too.

But I'll throw out Ginn as my pick.

This is one of the first picks where no one can really say... oh youre nuts, there's no way they'll take... (insert player).

It's going to be VERY interesting when the Titans are on the clock, definitely one of the first round picks I am most looking forward to...

CB

WR

DE

Trade for Turner

all in play....

As a Nashvillian, I'm hoping for the trade for Turner (1.19 for Turner and 1.30), followed by a pick of Dwayne Bowe. I posted with the idea that TN wouldn't be landing Turner, but would sign Dillon.

Yeah, Sig and I had an interesting debate on Ginn and Tennessee. I made my case for why you want a guy who's fast _and_ big in the OTC article, but even if Meachem wasn't there, I would be unhappy with the Titans selecting Ginn.

I don't believe he'll be a game-changer on offense, unless you mean picking up trash-time TDs on wing-and-a-prayer lobs when the game's out of reach. I think he will have a sporadic effect on their season if he's selected, going off in a few games and disappearing in the others. The Titans need consistent threats, and Ginn's just not that guy IMHO.
