I think the Ginn talk is a bit premature, and is mostly thanks to Denver's relative unpredictability when it comes to the draft. The Broncos offseason moves seem to indicate they'll be targeting a front seven defender in the first round:
--traded for Dre Bly
--signed Brandon Stokley to a one-year deal
--put out information that the #2 WR will be a competition (Smith/Marshall)
--signed a backup/rotational DT
--released Al Wilson, with the likely movement of D.J. Williams from SLB to MLB
I've also heard lots of rumblings that the Broncos are looking to use their extra draft pick (in the 3rd) to move up for a premier defensive player. If the Broncos manage to sign Kris Jenkins, I think the move is for their top rated DE (Anderson or Carricker). If they don't sign him, they move up for Branch.
Some have also discussed moving up to grab Willis, but I don't think that makes too much sense given Williams' likely move to the middle. Taking a SLB later in the draft (perhaps the guy from Nebraska in the second) is likely.
WR is a position of need, but I think the Broncos can grab someone to develop later on (maybe even Day Two).
Given the Broncos' current situation, my list goes:
True, this is a need, but I would rather them wait a couple of rounds and get Anthony Gonzalez instead. Same school and can do the same things.I can't stand seeing teams use 1st round picks on Big Ten receivers. When was the last time any of them lived up to first round expectations?
