$1 bargain bin for upcoming auctions (1 Viewer)

I have a auction draft just around the corner and every year I like to make a list of players I will try to get for $1-$2 at the end of the auction. We draft early enough that there are always some players that go for very cheap that end up putting teams over the top. Last year it was Droughns and FWP. This year may be a little tougher. My first thought was a K. Barlow, F. Gore combo. I have also seen Morency's name thrown around. He could be a great $2 guy assuming the D. Davis owner calls him up late for $1. Anyone have other names to look at?

Najeh Davenport. He was the starter in Green Bay before getting hurt. If Ahman Green can't come back from his devastating injury, I believe Davenport will be the starter there. Plus if you do get him, you should be able to get Green a little later.

I think Davenport is the guy over Gado.

Also, keep DeAngelo Williams is a nice guy who may be had on the cheap, as well as perhaps Corey Dillon.

- Ty Calico

- Doug Gabriel

- Reggie Brown (probably a few bucks more than $1, but probably cheap)

Most of these aren't close to $1 guys, although I suppose it depends on your cap. I'm used to $400. Kitna, Perry, Houston, Gado, Moats, Moore, Bryant, Jurevicious are all over $10. Most of the rest are around $5. Staley and Norwood might be $1.

Very true. He is on a short leash....AND he has let everyone down in the past.For some reason though, I see him putting up numbers ala Chris Sanders in 1995. ??? +--------------------------+-------------------------+ | Rushing | Receiving |+----------+-----+--------------------------+-------------------------+| Year TM | G | Att Yards Y/A TD | Rec Yards Y/R TD |+----------+-----+--------------------------+-------------------------+| 1995 hou | 16 | 2 -19 -9.5 0 | 35 823 23.5 9 |

- Reggie Brown (probably a few bucks more than $1, but probably cheap)
I think he's quickly becoming a popular "sleeper" (ie therefore not really a sleeper anymore). One good pre-season game and bam his value will shoot way up I bet.Check my "bottom tier" posts for my .02 and thx for the auction thread

This is a great list. We have a $100 cap and 2 keepers, so many of these will be $1. The draft is Monday so it is before preseason games can bump up players. The early drafts can lead to some very nice bargains if you hit on the right player.

I would say half of the kickers and defenses would be $1.

I think a great sleeper defense for a buck would be St Louis. Jim Haslett is coaching there now and he knows D. With a bigger emphasis on the running game and a soft division, could be a nice pick for a buck.

Calico may not even make the team.
:link:I'm currently right near Nashville, and the only thing I'm hearing is he looks good and is needed. Basically empty fluff talk, but without any indication that he may get cut.Of course, if he were, 10-1 odds say he's signed by a team better for him anyway.

this is the type of stuff that stirs the pot for Clico being cut:Titans | Calico on the hot seat Published Thu Aug 3 3:19:00 a.m. ET 2006 (KFFL) The Titans Radio Network reports Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher said Wednesday, Aug. 2, WR Tyrone Calico needs to start making plays or his tenure with the team could be over. "He's been a little inconsistent catching and has yet to really finish a practice full speed," said Fisher.

I just read that, I don't see that meaning much. But then, as I've mentioned before, I am blinded and have Calico as a sleeper, still. I'm stubborn like that.

Titans WR Tyrone Calico is now missing practicesPublished Sun Aug 6 11:57:00 a.m. ET 2006

(Rotoworld) Titans WR Tyrone Calico is now missing practices with a foot injury.

Impact: Calico appears likely to be cut at this point. Roydell Williams, Courtney Roby, Bobby Wade, and Brandon Jones are all in the mix for the third receiver role.

Travis Taylor...he will be solid and steady and if anything happens to Williamson or Koren he will be gold in a west coast offense.
