I have the #1 pick in my 6-team playoff draft. Scoring and roster requirements are pretty standard:

2 QB, 3 RB, 4 WR, 2 TE, 2 K, 2 D/ST

6 pts. rushing/receiving TD

4 pts. passing TD

1 pt. every 10 yards rushing/receving

1 pt. every 25 yards passing

I am torn between Brady and Tomlinson and was hoping to solicit some opinions from the rest of the forum. I think Brady is the safer pick, but I think Tomlinson could have more upside. Both guys definitely have pros and cons (Dodds even has Tomlinson ranked ahead of Brady in his Top 130 playoff forward). If I pass on Brady, by the time my second round pick comes back to me, most key Patriots will probably be off the board (Brady, Maroney, Moss, Welker...). If I pass on Tomlinson, chances of getting that elite RB may be slim to none. What to do, what to do......

What would YOU do????

Thanks,

~ Jason ~

ride with Brady....

Rivers has been to erratic this year to depend on taking the Chargers , and LT to the Super Bowl.

Brady is a safe pick.

I think it's Brady by a wide margin.. He's most likely going to play 3 games & should have decent yardage/TD's in all three... Tomlinson will most likely only play two games...

Yea, when I drew the #1 pick in the draft, I was already pencilling in Brady, but then as I began to think (and overthink, which is a very bad habit of mine), Tomlinson began to enter into the picture. I agree that Brady is the safest bet to get three games, but if you take a quarterback #1 (which I have never done in all my 10+ years playing fantasy), what kind of running back depth is going to be there for your next two or three picks (keep in mind....we have to draft 3 RB's)? So, with that being said, I guess the question isn't Brady vs. Tomlinson, but rather looking at the big picture.......Brady and whoever you can get with your 2nd and 3rd round picks vs. Tomlinson and whoever you can get with your 2nd and 3rd round picks.

In either case, I know I'll have something to think about all day long now....LOL.

When I do playoff drafting I go with the team I think will play the most games. What I do is look at who I think will be the strongest wildcard weekend team and take players from that squad. If that team gets to the Superbowl, you get 4 games instead of the 3 max that Brady will get.

I believe San Diego is the best team playing this weekend. That being said, I would think that Seattle has the best shot of the teams playing this weekend to get to the Superbowl, but I don't know who on that team would be worth the #1 pick. I'd say draft LT with the #1 and hope Hasselbeck is there at the turn when you pick again. That would be my strategy.

safest bet is to trade down

if Haynesworth is healthy and Indy run defense stays strong LT could be in for two struggles (if not one, remember TN killed SD for 3 1/2 quarters 4 or 5 weeks ago AND don't laugh but KCollins could play which probably doubles the size of TN playbook)

and NE could be playing in bad weather for two games (remember Brady vs the Jets)

there is one player who scored about twice as many TDs at his position than the second best ... Moss ... so trade down to a spot where you think you could land him

if no trading down, pick LT as they have a good shot of playing 3 games

I believe San Diego is the best team playing this weekend. That being said, I would think that Seattle has the best shot of the teams 6. playing this weekend to get to the Superbowl, but I don't know who on that team would be worth the #1 pick. I'd say draft LT with the #1 and hope Hasselbeck is there at the turn when you pick again. That would be my strategy.
Funny you mention this strategy :goodposting: ....i jjust picked #5 in a 9-team playoff draft and got LT in round 1 and Hasselbeck on the way back in round 2. i think people are scared off by the norv turner/philip rivers combo and therefore passed on LT....me, i think SEA could actually reach the SB (people are already handing the skins the sean taylor emotion-filled win, but SEA's rock solid defense will manhandle todd collins at home) and LT could get three games (i think SD absolutely crushes TEN, like 44-10 crushing), upsetting the colts on the track in indy before losing in NE...and even if LT only gets 2 games, his production will/could likely equal or top most rb's with 3 game potential (addai, barber, grant, maroney). draft so far has gone....and FWIW, i'll update picks as they happen so people can get an idea of when guys are going. Based on what? I like Washington. Show me what I'm missing. Please.

Any more mocks like this? Is there a site that has playoff ADP?

i updated mine above into the 8th round. and antsports.com usually has mocks you can view.

Tomlinson has the biggest upside. He has the opportunity to play 4 games

and score mucho points in each game. At worst (assuming an easy win against

the Titans) he would play in only two games. Brady might not be the point scoring

behemoth he was in the regular season. I forsee the Pats running the ball quite

a bit in their upcoming home playoff games. They're not chasing passing records

anymore and Maroney has been very effective the past month.
