#1 Waiver Wire position: do you sit and wait for the big one? (1 Viewer)

My 12 team redraft league has very....very short benches (we only keep one back-up at each position). We charge $5 per free agent move and keep short benches to keep the pot growing and growing. In previous years I've always been very active in making moves.......many times picking up free agents for weekly matchups (usually defenses). However, this year, I like my team and really don't want to drop anybody for the "flavor of the week" and am sitting at the top of the waiver wire. So, I'm left debating on whether to wait for a key injury and then pounce on a guy like Chester Taylor (with such short benches.....there are no "handcuffs" in my league)? Or, drop a decent, but not great, performer for a guy with big upside such as Mendenhall. Last year, by making moves, I was the lucky owner who picked up Chris Johnson. This year..........I don't want to miss out! But, it sure feels good sitting at the top and waiting to pounce.

How do you handle the #1 waiver wire spot in your league?

But seriously, if you like your team and don't feel the need to use your ww priority, then stand pat. However, do not make the mistake of overvaluing that #1 priority because more often than not you'll be waiting around for that jackpot injury that never happens while your competition snags a middling yet productive player who blows up later in the year.
