10th straight 10 loss or more season for Detroit Lions (1 Viewer)

Da Guru

Fair & Balanced
Detroit Lions setting NFL futility records.

10 straight seasons of 10 losses or more.

19 straight division losses.

22 straight road losses.

In todays NFL and the way it is set up for parity do you fully realize and comprehend how difficult it is to put together streaks like this?

but they are definitely close to turning it around. If Stafford stayed healthy I think you would have broken that streak this year. There should be a glimmer of some optimism in Detroit.

Meh. The Lions look like world champions compared to my Pittsburgh Pirates. They haven't had a winning season since 1992.

At some point the losing culture will turn around and they are closer to that now than they have been an a long time. Many of these games were close this year, on both sides of the ball they are no longer as putrid as they have been. Maybe stafford isn't the answer but Schwartz seems to be getting things moving in the right direction.

The Vincent Chen curse...I hope it stays with Detroit forever.

Not true; they went 7-9 in 2007.
That is correct. I was retweeting Lions beat writer Tom Kowalski quotes.

my bad ... said it was 10th straight 10-loss season for Lions ... forgot that glorious 7-9 record in 2007 ...

They're that close though. If they can get some more defense in the draft this year, they're going to be tough next year.

Grab a corner/d-end/linebacker combination with their first two picks and things will be looking better. I can see them taking Amukamara or Da'Quan Bowers with their first then someone like Greg Jones or Jeremy Beal in the 2nd.

Hey, but at least you get the Steelers and Penguins, so SOME sort of championships are coming into the town. You could be from Ohio...Lets see, Bengals? Browns? Reds? Indians? Blue Jackets? I am over 30 years old, and have never seen a major sports championship from our state...sure, the Crew won one a year or 2 ago, but who cares about soccer? ...Thank god for Ohio State Athletics...at least we dominate SOMEWHERE!

Wow, maybe the Lions should be made to wear those "orange cream" Buccaneer throw-back uniforms.

Who has a brighter future, the Lions or the Rams ?
Don't look now but the Rams are leading their division! It has been a long drought for Detroit but hey at least you've had hockey, right? I think most would agree that these teams have turned the corner and IMO both Stafford and Bradford will be top QB's over the next 10 years. There's a light at the end of the tunnel.

The Reds went wire-to-wire in '90.

I don't question his toughness or desire (or skill set)... but his availability to date has me worried.

Bradford missed alot of time before getting his shoulder repaired. I think Matt Stafford is making a big mistake by not getting surgery.

can you imagine what things would be like if the raiders drafted Calvin number 1 and then the lions took Jamarcus Russell at number 2?

:( was wondering where he was in 1990.Reds have a pretty good team now too.

I agree, get the surgery and be done with it.Also about the "Ohio State" comment from above....Dominate you said? Hardly...but I understand you need the hope, I mean after all your from Ohio.

Tom "the Lions have absolutely no chance of drafting Matt Stafford" Kowalski? I think we found the problem.

Lions Fans:

Just hang in there.

The Lions just need to keep drafting quality players and draft on the off/def lines.

Give Schwarz another two years, I bet it turns around.

Hmmm...might want to check if Killer got the middle stat correct, because not only did they win 7 games in 2007 (after starting the season 6-2 BTW), they have also lost 25 straight road games.

Hey we're consistent, if nothing else.
So is Kowalski. He got all three 'facts' wrong.

It's 20, not 19, straight division losses.

In 2007 (the 6-2 start year), we beat Minnesota and Chicago, then lost the last four divisional games.

Six each in 2008 and 2009.

Four so far this year (yet to play the second game against the Packers or Vikings).

I kind of like the fact that the Lions Insider is as inept as the team he covers.

It would be the exact same. 0 wins, two wins, two wins.

This is what I was begging Al Davis to do back in 07. :kicksrock:

That was my bad...I JUUUST missed out on being a part of that hoopla, as I did not really get into baseball until about '93, so I completely forgot about that one. :sheepish:Still, 20 years and counting! :(

Lions are on the upside at least. A healthy stafford could have landed them a few more wins
much better position than the Eagles./delusional
Makes no sense at all.
He's referring to how negative you are about the Eagles. He was sarcastically saying you think the Lions at 2-10 are in a better place than the Eagles at 8-4 right now. He was right to be sarcastic, right? Right????
this guy gets it.

Anyone remember the guy who used to have the "Detroit Lions Super Bowl Champions ___" sig a few years back? It was there every season for a few years.

Ah sarcasm on the internet, like 3D movies for blind people.

As an outsider, it seems to me the Lions franchise has tried everything except hire a proven talent evaluator who has experience building a winning organization. They hired Matt Millen to pick the players out of the broadcast booth and stuck with him for years. They replaced him from inside the organization with a young guy with no track record of success at picking players. They need a GM who is skilled at the draft and who knows the league so that he can have strong free agent signings in the offseason because depth is important to help overcome injuries. This seems to be the first thing that needs to change.

:moneybag: dude was delusional.or really good with sarcasm.
