12 Team Standard Scoring - 6 man keeper league (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
We have a 12 team Standard League that allows us to keep 6 players without any draft value.  I've narrowed it down to the following 4 players and have 5 bubble players.  I'm trying to decide which 2 to keep of the 5.  One item to note is that we start 1 QB and then 5 in a super flex model, meaning we can start 5 receivers or 5 running back or 5 tight ends or any combination of the 5.

Definite keepers are:

  1. Odell Beckham
  2. Dez Bryant
  3. Tom Brady
  4. Keenan Allen  (Maybe should be on the bubble, but could be worth the risk if he can stay healthy)
The 5 players that I'm trying to pick 2 from are as follows:

  1. Sammy Watkins - have downgraded for this year due to trade to LAC, but should I hang on for the next 3-5 years.  Injury concerns as well.
  2. Tevin Coleman - Shared backfield, but last year was phenomenal until injured late.  Also long term value could be worth holding on to.
  3. Tyreek Hill - Gadget player, but also get TDs from special teams.  Rated high for the most part this year
  4. Ameer Abdullah - picked him up off of waivers at the end of the season last year to see if he would be part of the 6 and so far he's rated fairly well.
  5. Marcus Mariota - Picked him up as rookie and held onto him last year.  Not sure that I have the same option, but Brady is going to decline at some point.  Am I better off looking to trade Brady for a number 1 draft pick and hold on to Mariota.
Outside input would be great to help me narrow this down to my six keepers.  I also have the 1.01 pick this year, which is another problem all together.

Thanks in Advance,

Suaz

A "superflex" is typically when a QB can start in the Flex spot. You have every right to call it whatever you so choose but just heads up if case you run into some confusion.

I'd keep Dez, Allen, OBJ, Hill for sure. Absolutely trade Brady for a #1 pick. I wouldn't keep Mariota at all. You can likely draft or WW pick up a comparable QB. Try to trade Mariota, Watkins and those two RBs for a couple startable RBs. **Likely multiple trades with multiple teams.

Good first post by the way.

Thanks Borden,

Appreciate the information, I wasn't sure what to call it, but had heard the term and it sounded similar to what we've built.  As a side note this league has been around since 1990 when it was spreadsheets and newspapers and I've never come across a league with similar rules  :)

It's likely that every team in the league will keep at least one QB based on history, so I would most likely be looking at a QB that is available at a QB ranking of 10 or over.  Definitely like the aggressive nature of your response.

As an additional update we roster 16 total including a kicker and team defense, so the draft will be 10 rounds.

I'll see what kind of trades I can get working before our keeper deadline, but welcome other input on this thread.

If your league is using a standard scoring setup any you can start 5 RBs (no WRs or TEs) then my plan would be to after David Johnson and Lev Bell. Then back filled with whoever you can. This likes means OBJ and Dez are on the move along with some other pieces.

Jordan Howard (#6 RB) scored the same as Antonio Brown (#1 WR) last year in standard scoring leagues.

My opening offers...

OBJ and Coleman for DJ

Sammy, Abdullah and Brady for Bell

Keenan Allen for Gurley

Dez and second round pick for Gordon or Howard

Use your Mariota and 3rd round and lower picks to sweeten deals as needed.

Starting Bell, DJ, Gurley, Gordon, Ty Hill, Fournette (that's who I'd take at 1.01) is a super studly team. Don't worry about not having a top 10 QB. Rodgers, Breess, Stafford, Ryan, Winston, Wilson, Newton, Ben, Cousins, Dak, plus your two is 12. That still leaves Luck, Rivers, Dalton, and so on.

I'd keep Hill and Watkins. I'd be very careful about dealing Brady. Unless its a top-3 overall pick, I'd rather just keep Brady.
