16-team leagues (1 Viewer)

I haven't had much success finding strategy related to a 16 team league. I'm in two this year, so I could use the strategy help on that size league in particular. Anyone have any articles, suggestions, :honda: links, whatever re: drafting in a 16 team league? I'm drafting #4 in one, trying to decide on how to go in picks 2 and 3, when to take a QB, etc. The other one we don't have draft slots yet..

Thanks!

I play in a 14 and 16 team redraft leagues and have played in each for over 10 years. I have a couple of posts in the wannabee thread in the asst coach forum that deal with larger leagues and will have more soon. Feel free to ask anything you want in that thread.I will teall you that it is VERY difficult to plan for the scarcity of RBs, and even QBs if they get 6 points for passing TDs

I think one of the keys in the large leagues is to give owners different starting options in addition to more creative scoring rules...i.e.Start 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 WR, 1 TE and two FLEX (RB, WR and TE)scoringbonus points for 100 rushing yardsbonus points for 100 receiving yardsbonus points for 70 receiving yards (TE)1 pt per reception2 pts per receptions (tight end)etc...

Picking at 1.04, you should take whichever one of these RBs that are there:TomlinsonLJohnsonAlexanderPortis

Been in a 16 redraft for years. You either get a lame QB or TE if you pick top 6. I always go RB-RB then grab Gates (Gonzo in past years) or Manning. Don't ever go WR early. If you can get Portis/Chester Taylor you would be doing well. I just finished one and 4 went Portis/Harrison. Now he's screwed at RB (draft is over). Taylor, Julius Jones and Dillon were there. I was 2 and went LT- Chester- Gates. Ended up with Carr, Brad Johnson at QB (rd 8 and 9) and Coles, Koren and Mason (5,6,7) as WR's. Mixed in Dayne and Alex Smith (4th and 10th)in there too. You can get 3 stud WR's if you go WR-WR-WR but you end up with Ahman Green- Mike Anderson at RB. I've won a few times and been top 5 each year. One year a guy won with WR's. We've played 10 years.
