18 team league (1 Viewer)

I searched for previous posts but didn't see anything.

I am in an 18 team league this year. Start 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WR, 1 Flex (RB, WR, TE), 1 DST, 1 K. Scoring is fairly intricate but is 6 pts all TDs, 1 PPR, pts for yardage and bonuses on TD length and when certain amount of yards are accrued.

How in the world do you go about doing this? Has anyone done well in a league like this or just have experience?

I draft 6th overall but have basically resigned myself to drafting whoever I feel can get me the most points at my spot - regardless of position.

Any tips out there?

Ive played in large 18-20 team leagues.

Try and get 2 RBs firstly. Everytime a player is taken that not a RB in the first two rounds.... be happy.

Then go for the best WR.

Grab your QB next and then plan on grabbing two more QBs that are starting a bit later. Try and start the back up QB run quitely.

In a league this large you will be surprised at how valuable these become as trade bait.

Let the TEs slide. (You have to make a decision as to which position you wont get, as you cannot possibly get them all).

Its point seperation isnt enough. Take 2 later TEs and use free agency.

Try and get you handcuffs at RB like never before. In fact, try and get RBs that have an easier time getting the handcuff. Being solid gets you into the playoffs. Many teams will have huge gaping holes that will knock em out. Make sure to take a one/two other shots at RB with minimal costs that could have value with an injury. (Like Sammie Morris or Mike Bell) Textbook flyers that other owners leave exposed for too long.

Do not be an early team to take a kicker. Again, if you can put it off as long as possible and then take two of the lesser kicker you will be fine. (Like Medlock and Janikowski)

If its with team defense, get advice elsewhere. LOL. I usually play big leagues with IDP. I would try and grab something solid, but not be the first. In the 8-10 range, depending on scoring.

And finally to fill you 2nd WR... draft these all draft long, depending on your roster size. Suck up the same team combo WRs in hopes one will pan out to go next to your main man. Like in SD or Jax, that cn be had a bit on the late side.

Good luck.
