1st MADDEN 2010 NEWS (1 Viewer)

I sold it back to Game Stop after one month this year, I am done with Madden games forever. MLB 09:The show comes out 3/3!

after 15 years, they've finally lost me as a customer unless they fix franchise mode next season.
What, specifically, was wrong with it?I've got the new one; it's the first year I've played the PS3 version. I couldn't really get into it because the running game seemed so difficult (although I admittedly only played it maybe twice). I think I might put it up on eBay this week while I can still get a few bucks for it.

:lmao: The sim side needs to be much more accurate and playable.
I found the sim side of the latest Madden to be the best representation of sim football video gaming so far.2k definitely beat Madden a few years ago, when Madden was still a "bombs away off your back foot" game. But Madden has definitely caught (and imho passed) 2k. All Pro 2k8 was great fun, but the entire running game was a joke, and the same pass plays worked over and over again. Madden doesn't seem to have too many fallback "always work" plays. Yes, some are there (the slant routs are overpowered), but it's a harder experience.I usually play 8 minute quarters, and Madden's end results (score, numbers, etc) look much more like a real game.

Am I the only one who has a really hard time running the damn ball with Madden 09? My skill level is 760 and I average about 2 yards a pop over a whole season with my running game....

You have to wait for your blocks. And don't pull the trigger (extra speed, whatever is it) until you are kind of in the clear. But the running game is definitely harder than it used to be.

Could care less about Madden. They gotten worse year after year. Its all about online gaming anymore, thye completely treated the franchise aspect like the red head step child.

Also they had a great game in NFL Head Coach 09

You all may laugh, but I am an ex-gamer from the early 90s...whatever happened to "that blue blob runs here or catches that". The games now are so "loosey goosey" that they are almost unplayable. Nothing is tight anymore...play Madden 93 on a Sega Genesis and you will see what I am talking about.

If you are playing the computer and can't walk away with at least 4.0 per carry, then something (game or you) is flawed.

I am sure I will buy it again. Don't think I even made it through a season on 09. If I remember right they at least had the fantasy draft on there.

When I was younger, I loved Madden. Now, I'd rather play NCAA Football -- They've really jazzed up the recruiting portion of the game, and you're given a few years with the stud players. In Madden, I always thought it was too easy to keep players signed below their market value, and I never liked it that I couldn't get my team into salary cap hell.

Half back dive is your friend. That's the only running play you need.

I honestly think Madden has turned a corner. I thought '09 was a major step up from the last couple years. Deciding to get a real announcer helped but I'm not sure Collinsworth is the answer. As far as the running game goes, I had thought it was a lot tougher to run in the newest version of Madden also until recently when I posted 3 straight games of 100+ yards rushing with FWP, DWill, and JLewis.

Inside handoffs, draws and counters are mostly about what the opposing D is setup as. I get most of my rushing chunks from pitches and outside handoffs. If you have a favorable formation, you'll get 4+ yards on an inside run, but if the matchup is bad, you'll get stoned. Don't believe those who say "just wait for your blockers". It's mostly formation driven in my experience...

the only time i posted good run stats was with a faster RB, 95 speed or better. Got nowhere running with Turner but was producing with Norwood. LT is good. Unless its a guy with speed, i cant run for anything.

I used to be into Madden, but I tried '09 and didn't like it at all. I hadn't even played any Madden game since Madden '07, and I was hoping the game would be better but to me it was very much the same. In fact I wound up beating my friend who plays '09 all the time.

There is just not a realistic feel, the players movements are awkward looking. The spacing and dimensions of the game don't feel right, for instance, you will have a guy running downfield and the man covering him is a good 3-4 yards behind....so you throw a touch pass and the defender will just rise up and knock it down. In real life, that pass would go over his head no problem. I was really hoping to get back into Madden since I bought a PS3 but I just didn't enjoy it.

Missus got me 09 for Christmas. Won the SB in the first season on franchise and then the save game stuffed up. This used to happen on previous versions too, and from what I'm reading on the net this not uncommon. Really peed off with EA about this - have written to express my displeasure but to no avail.

The franchise mode is decent at best. But the Madden franchise mode is waaaay better than the MLB game. That franchise mode is God awful. And I love baseball waaaaay more than I love football. But it's truly horrific.
