I am really hoping Leon Hall will slide, but I just don't see it happening. If Olsen is their highest rated player, do they adapt the offense to put in the pass catching TE? This might make sense with Henry out and no true proven 3rd wr. CB is a definite need, but they also need to cover for Kasevaharn's departure. I think the Oline will be okay with Whitworth and Andrews. Dline could be an option also if Branch, Carraker,Anderson, or Okoye are available. I look for them to take Hall or a Dlineman.

There was a lot of discussion on this in Bloom's Who Should the Bengals Take at 18 thread last week.Best defensive player available, probably a corner if the Vikes don't kick off a run here.

My bet is it will be one of the Texas DB's (leaning toward Griffin) if Nelson or Revis aren't there.

Either would work well. Griffin with Madieu would be a great combo with Jackson getting older. Dline may be an afterthought after looking back over the roster especially wit Peka stepping up. CB is the need especially with Deltha getting older. It would be nice if Ratliff would step up as I had high expectations when he was drafted. Still, Olsen would be an interesting pick.

Re Olsen: I like him, but I just wonder if we can maybe get our DB in 1st and Zach Miller in the 2nd. Risky, but that would rock.

Agreed, but Olsen is in a different league speed and athletic abilty-wise. Miller is a solid TE and it would be sweet to grab him. Upside for Miller is Todd Heap but downside is daniel-graham type TE which we already have in Reggie. Olsen has upside of no limit and downside of bust.

Looking more and more like a CB since none have been taken yet. I would be okay with any of the the top 4.

:P Woo Hoo!!!! We've got two young corners... nice to have one position to not have to worry about!

Looking at highlights both Texas DBs look good. But can someone tell me why, given how awful their pass defense was, they can have two 1st round DB picks. Was their pass rush that lame?

:shrug:Very happy that defense was addressed here. Very happy.Hopefully, something nice slips into the second round.
That was a nice surprise. I too am glad they addressed this. Olsen would of been a great TE for sure but we need D help, especially corner, much more than anywhere else on the team. Offense is set for the most part. Getting our defense improved and healthy will allow this team to challenge for a title this year.

Good call on a guy who may play 10-15 snaps a week for you over the next couple of seasons if Rudi is healthy over players like Tanard Jackson or Charles Johnson.
