14 team league---11 offensive scoring categories and 13 pitching scoring categories

C-Hundley

1B-Texiera

2B-Kipnis

SS-Reyes

3B-Wright

OF-Adam Jones

OF-Either

OF-K. Morales

Util-Fowler

Bench-Cozart, Belt, Allen Craig, Jason Bay

Grinke, Lester, Morrow, Hellickson, Danks, Sale, Matt Moore, Nolasco

I waited on a catcher and selected Salavdor Perez but apparently he was on the 60 day DL so I dropped him and got Hundley(nothing else was out there)

Now I just realized I have no closer so I watching the CWS closing situation closely as they are pretty much the only closer left on the WW

Good, Bad or decent?

Should I pick up a different catcher?

Ianetta, Saltalamacchia, Pierzyniski, Doumit and Lucroy are available

Get Ianetta or Doumit.

11 offensive scoring categories and 13 pitching scoring categories
Can you unpack this?
Sure, and thanks for the inputHitting---Runs, Hits, Singles, Doubles, Triples, HR's, RBI's, SB, BB, Total Bases, AVG.Pitching---Innings pitched, Wins, Losses, Complete games, shutouts, saves, BB, K's, Holds, ERA, WHIP, Quality starts

Post the available OF on WW.

Cozarts a good backup SS, but you're never sitting Reyes. You'll probably need that spot to have more options in your OF (which is weak).

Bright side, if you posted those SPs in the order you picked them, Moore and Nolasco were robbery.

ETA: Like Salty or Ianetta at catcher both over Hundley.

Thanks Cheese. been hearing good things about Cozart so I'll probably keep him around until I need to drop him or in case Reyes gets hurt, but you're right I'll never need him unless Reyes gets injured

I think I got Matt Moore with my 4th pitcher selected and Nolasco as my last pick in the draft. I was the 14th pick in the draft so thats my Mr. Irrelevant

OF available

Raburn

Mayberry

Carp

Ibanez

Wigginton

Jon Jay

JD martinez

Alex Presley

Denard Span

Nolan Reimold

Nyjer Morgan

Cody Ross

Garrett Jones

Abreu

Nothing jumps out at me right now, but I would keep a quick trigger finger to get rid of anyone on your bench or Fowler or even Morales for any of those guys who start off hot. All of your guys are fine, but they're all cuttable if you can nab an OF who is breaking out. Specifically, I would keep an eye on what Ibanez and Carp are doing out of the gates.

Cool, I'll add those guys to my watch list. I got the 1st WW position so I should be able to nab anyone who starts off hot

Washington, Cinci, KC also have fluid closer situations.

Agree with Doumit. He's going to get plenty of ABs as they want Morneau to DH more opening up 1B for Doumit.

OF - Dom Brown? If he plays well, he'll get the call sooner rather than later. Philly phans will only be able to put up with Wiggy/Nix for so long.

- Jason Kubel? If he secures regular PT, he could post decent numbers.

- Travis Snyder? Could be a stud if a spot ever opens for him.

Kubel is taken but I have been looking at Dominic BrownI'll keep an eye on these closer situations. I guess Marshall or Chapman are the frontrunner in Cincy an they're taken already and so is Broxton and Holland. I think my best bet would be pick up Thornton from CWS and hope someone else falters and I'll be able to snag the person who takes overThanks for the input. I'll go add Doumit right now

Belt might not even make the team out of ST, you might be better off with a guy like Carp. This is a redraft right?

J.D. Martinez...

I see that holds is a category. It is probably worth it to see what closers in waiting/set up guys are floating around and grab one of those. You could get a closer out of it eventually, and in the meantime grab yourself some holds. You could also look at Reed from CWS if not many other bullpen options are around. I would also grab Doumit.

Yeah redraftI'm probably going to drop Belt. Not going to be using him much anyway. I have Jason Bay on the bench but I'll keep and eye on Carp also

Yeah I'm hurting with my relief pitchers/closer. Reed here I come!

I actually like Thornton and think he's got a good chance to hold the job all year. A lot of owners (including me) were burned by him last year and still have a bad taste in their mouth, but he was a dominant pitcher before closing, tried to incorporate a new pitch and sucked while closing, got demoted, scrapped new pitch and started putting up good numbers again. I love cheap closers and am not afraid to chase them during the season. Its a bit more work, but allows you to (wisely) spend your money elsewhere.

I already picked up Reed so I'm hoping he gets some holds for me but Thornton is still out there I'm just not sure if I should drop someone for him or wait and see if/when someone else comes along.People I could drop are

Cozart-probably end up dropping him at some point anyway

Jason Bay-weak outfield so I kinda wanna keep him

Nolasco-pretty deep with starters so I could let him go

Allen Craig-I like the guy

Will I be able to find a decent closer during the season or are they hard to come by. I'll stay active on the WW and have the 1st waiver priority so I can basically pick up anyone

With all those scoring categories, I really dont know what to tell ya. In a standard 5x5 league, Id drop Reed and pick up Thornton.Yes, new closers will be available all during the season. Whether they're "decent" or not is another story. :)
