Brady Quinn in his first two games:

21/35 vs. MIN

and

18/31 vs Denver

Before getting benched against Baltimore.

Now, I know the Browns have their problems, and they have a LOT of problems, but really, Min. and Den. are two fine defenses (and so is/was Baltimore's), maybe the HC and GM deserve some criticism in light of what Anderson has and has not done since taking over?

They drafted a QB with a 1st round pick, moved up to get him, and then bench him after two mediocre games against two really good defenses (a third if you count Baltimore?)?

Was wondering this when reading the dreaded voted of confidence for Mangini.

No fan of Quinn's here, but really looking at it was he really doing any worse than Sanchez, Stafford, Henne or Russell???

I'd say no. What's the point of drafting a QB in the first year if not at least sweating out the first year he starts and learns???

You should know by know that the Browns have benched Quinn purely for salary reasons. They need to make sure he's on the field for fewer than 45% of the snaps.

Pretty much all that needs to be said here. I don't envy whomever has to take over this job after Mangini. No QB, no RB, 1 WR who is waaaaay over is head as a #1 [wouldn't be starting right now on a lot of teams in the league], no TE. If they were going to pull this with Quinn, they should of took the offers this past offseason.

My two cents:

1.) Mangini didn't draft Quinn, so his draft position is (or should be) irrelevant, although generally that should be the case anyway

2.) The performances of Stafford, Sanchez, Russell, and Henne are irrelevant to the discussion at hand, especially considering that two of the teams involved are the Lions and Raiders (not exactly model franchises)

3.) I find it hard to believe that Quinn is being benched "purely for salary reasons."

All of that being said, I actually do agree with what I think is your main point: Quinn should be starting for Cleveland right now.
