With the stories now of Selig only using the JDA for the suspension, I'm hoping it's all a ruse to make Alex breath a sigh of relief, then Bud comes out all Clemens on the mound against Piazza and says, Mr. Rodriguez is suspended and banned for life from the game of baseball. Suck it.

I love the Yankees and have no problem with Bud. Never likes ARod.I'm having difficulty determining who to root for here as I detest both ARod and Bud Selig, as well as the Yankees.
I want Bud to drop the atomic hammer on Arod.

That said, I'm 100% against an outcome that hurts A-rod but lets the Yanks off scott free, which is what they want. Baseball and the Yanks are culpable in this mess also, and neither should be spared the wrath of their decisions and actions to date.

He can take his 50, play in the playoffs (theoretically) and becomes a free agent free and clear next year. Taking his suspension also allows him to negotiate an extension with the Rangers now. You can't sign an extension while on appeal last I checked.

I know the FA stuff. I just thought he would fight from what I was reading and to make sure that he helped the Rangers as long as possible. Yeah he could have lost some games next year, but Melky has shown that you can still get paid with these suspensions.

This is where it makes the most sense, to me, to be risking being caught. If you are going to end up in the minors or, with some cheating, make the majors for a few years, that's a huge benefit, even considering the risk.

Yup. Always thought the majority of the juicers were the fringe major leaguers who would be no better than A ball or AA journeyman without it. The spike from the low levels of the minors to a major league bench guy is probably the largest gap increase in income %, not to mention lifestyle.

Cruz was getting a big deal regardless of what he chose to do. It seems the MLB case was pretty good though so he took the suspension now knowing he'd probably get 50 games regardless. I'm also surprised he didn't fight it though.

No it was MLB trying to overplay their hand to have ARod take a suspension that is unfair. IF MLB had just gave Arod the 50 game suspension like everyone else this would be a non story. Problem is MLB already set the punishment for actions like Arods with Melky Cabera last year. If he only got the 50 game suspension, then was able to sign a FA contract, how are you going after Arod different, both lied both were caught.
So in the end Arod will sit 50 games, I expect after all the legal battles. Unless they have that hammer, which I dont think they do or they would of used it already.

Plenty of businesses larger than MLB have institutionalized racism. It wouldn't surprise me that the league has declined to investigate certain leads due to the race of the players implicated.

There is no suspension of him that is unfair. Melky's incident really wasn't remotely close at all to this one so people really need to stop using it.

But wait MLB is upset that Arod " attempted" to purchased the same evidence that MLB did. So how can MLB complain about something that they did?
And why should Arod serve more than a 50 game suspension since this is his first time (in this program)?

Let's say it's true that both ARod and MLB were at some point trying to purchase the Biogenesis evidence. I'm guessing what they were planning on doing with it was a little different.

Has ARod said he would have taken a 50 game suspension? If so, I missed that. I would find that interesting because he claims he's innocent so why would he take any deal?
The one good thing that would come out of Arod appealing is that hopefully all this will be aried out publically. I assume that the appeal details will leak just like everything else has.
I think if ARod (and his legal team) seriously thought he was going to get more than 50 games (or perhaps 100 at the most), he wouldn't put it off by appealing. He isn't getting any younger. I think he knows that he's a first time offender and can't be made an example of just because Selig has it in for him and the Yankees want out of their terrible contract.

As with both sides "unnamed sources" have stated that if it was just the 50 games that Arod would of took the deal, but both of course "unnamed sources" were talking about a life ban as well.

Hard to call that cheating back then when there were no tests and no penalties. Besides, it's highly doubtful the people being suspended all started with Biogenesis.

Dude, you are obviously biased. Probably because of the horrible deal your team made and can't get out from under. Guys like McGuire Bonds and Sosa did WAY more damage with their cheating and lying than ARod has. He hasn't broken any major records. He's just going to ber known as one of the cheaters. The other guys ruined the cherished record books.
As far as Pete Rose goes, he bet on baseball. As a manager. He may have influenced his own games in order to make money. ARod was one of hundreds. Rose was alone/
