2008 Sox / Yanks Game Thread (1 Viewer)

I just want to thank God for letting the rest of the country watch this awesome series by putting 3 games on national tv.

:lmao:

tap

Wang / Buch... last time both pitched well, except Wang pitched 3 innings more than Buch

Love the classy Yankees fans going nuts when Youkilis went down hurt.
 I heard a ton of Youk chants You realize there are a ton of Sox fans there.
:football: I also think fans might have thought that ball was in play and wondered what happened... Not until the replay did I know that the ball hit off his toe to Arod... I'm sure a lot of fans thought it was an out and then were like :hot: Ridiculous Boston over reacting here none the less.

The ball was dribbling up the third base line and Youk was still at home plate, on the ground. Why would a Red Sox fan be yelling "Yooooooouk" at that point?

Possible that they were cheering the easy out, but it would be pretty hard to miss the fact that the guy was on his hands and knees instead of running to first.

Lot of room for confusion on this play - Little room for crying. The fans were probably like WTF once the ump put his hands out signifying foul ball.... Nothing to cry over though.... I didn't see or feel any outrage here. But, so it goes.....Maybe we should start a poll?

no need for a pole, really no issue here

There were two egregiuos plays that the Yankees got away with IMO

Buchholz not getting the obvious 3rd strike against (Abreu I think), which led to the walk - really bad

Damon's slide that cleaned out Lugo, 3 feet from the bag, obvious interference

Whatever though, can't complain, Sox pitching didn't get the job done and that's that

I cant disagree that that was a illegal slide :lmao:

sold my tix for tomorrow's game, gonna be canoeing up Maine. Gotta like the odds of the Sox picking up two of these... I think Sloba is chased out by the 5th, and Ponson.... no need to even analyze that matchup

Conversation I just had with a Sox buddy of mine:

Me: Scared?

Him: Joba is a doosh, the way he threw at Youk. He won't do that in Boston!

Me: Why?

Him:  [10 second pause]

Me: Obviously Youk had no problem being "thrown at" since he didn't charge the mound.

Him: He's too classy for that.

Me: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Yeah, he's SO classy when he cries and stomps his feet after making outs, or

when he's fighting with Manny. Face it, he knew he would get KILLED if he went after Joba.

Him: No, he's classy.

Me: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Him: Whatever, Joba is a dirty #####. <click>

Nothing like Yankee/Red Sox weekend. I would give this guy a kidney, but I hate him until Monday.

As for the series this weekend:

I'm a realist. As well as N.Y. has been playing, I know we've been beating up on teams which aren't exactly great. Since the series is in Boston, the Yanks MUST take one game. No secret there. Hopefully it's one of the first two, then they can play a little more relaxed. Boston is tough at home, obviously. A few breaks here and there and a 2-1 weekend might be possible. I'd say the Sox have the edge in the pitching matchups over the three games, though not as much as one might think going strictly by the numbers.

Game 1 - Today @ 7:05 p.m.

Joba Chamberlain RHP (2-3, 2.52) vs. Josh Beckett RHP (9-6, 3.98)

Game 2 - Tomorrow @ 3:55 p.m.

Andy Pettitte LHP (11-7, 3.86) vs. Tim Wakefield RHP (6-7, 3.69)

Game 3 - Wednesday @ 8:05 p.m.

Sidney Ponson RHP (6-1, 4.02) vs. John Lester LHP (8-3, 3.20)
