Try Draft Dominator and use Maurile Tremblay's auction method. Shouldn't have macro problems then.Though I think if you've never done it, that it is worth the time spent to go through the process to generate a set yourself, just so you get a good grasp of the concepts. That understanding comes in handy later when you're deciding what parameters to set in a tool to best represent your league and where you think the value should lie.The short of doing it by hand... grab a set of projections you are comfortable with, tweaking on your own as needed. Convert to fantasy points.Decide on a VBD-like baseline. Basically you want guys who are backups who you think should go for the min price to be a 0 value and anyone who should go for more than the min price to have some value that reflects fantasy points. Calculate the VBD value for all players who should make a roster. Then sum up the values so you have the total value in the entire pool of players. That value will get spent on it an amount of money equal to (total cap room in league for all teams - total money for minimum bid for every roster spot). That is, if you have 12 teams and $200 cap with $1 min bid and 20 players on a roster, you have 2400 dollars total. And you have 240 players who will require $1 each just to make a roster. So $2400 - $240 = $2160 dollars of discretionary money.Divide that money by the total value. Now you know how much each value point is worth. Go back to each individual player and multiply that result by their value and you have figured out what their auction value is. Don't forget to add in the minimum value to every player as well (that is, the $1 that we already subtracted out of everyone's salary when we determined discretionary money). This is the point where you really pick up useful stuff. Now you look at the values and see if you agree with them. You may have backups being worth more than you think. Or maybe less. Maybe your backup RBs should be worth more in your opinion due to scarcity and chance of emerging as a starter, but other backups are fine. Now you're figuring out what tweaks need to be made to get the values to what you think your league should have. Throw in tweaks to the value of players as needed, and recalculate everything again. If you do it in Excel with formulas it will do it for you.If it's dynasty, you can work with 2009 projections and then throw in a modifier based on how much longer the player has left in his career and how much you think he'll tail off before not being worth a spot.

GregR,

thanks for the info. However, i am married with three kids under 4 years of age, plus I run my own business. I'm kinda looking for a short cut here.

Then I'd go with Draft Dominator and use MT's auction method to calculate the values. You still need a set of projections though that reflect your beliefs (or someone else's that you are comfortable with trusting) about the players in the future, whether redraft or dynasty. I'm not sure if it is updated with 2009 yet, or if VBD is (you can import from VBD into Draft Dominator).
