2009 Bal RB situation (1 Viewer)

What do you guys see happening in the Bal back field next year.

Last I heard McGahee was staying put but was still behind McLain and Rice.

I have McLain on the cheap in my auction keeper league and wondering if he'll be the starting guy? I guess at worst he'll still get all the GL stuff but I'm hoping he can get 20 touches a game.

Re-watch the AFC title game vs Pitt. To me this shows that McClain is going back to FB, Willis will start and Rice will be COP. Injuries may change this but this is how I see it shaking out

As a Ray Rice owner, unfortunately I agree with this. McGahee got himself back in the good graces of the coaching staff and since cutting him does not help the cap, he's staying put. If he's on the team he's likely going to start unless Rice really steps up his game. McClain is a nice player and I like watching him run but he's better suited to the FB role where he can contribute in many aspects of the offense but not be asked to carry it.

exactly willis wont be as banged up as last year (well maybe). McClain could vulture some GL TD's but I got a feeling the Rice owners will wait one more year to have their man starting

It'll likely be McGahee for one more year as he's too expensive to cut.

Ray Rice at COP / 3rd downs.

McClain to FB and maybe some GL / short yardage work.

2010 could be Rice's year.....

I drafted both Mendenhall & Rice knowing that I may have to wait a full year and possibly two for them to get a feature role. I was willing to wait.

Now if McGahee is still seeing stars, and having visions of Ryan Clark, he may end up on the scrap heap very quickly. Some guys don't get over a shot like that very quickly, especially if he has all offseason to reflect on the last hit he had for the season. For that same reason, I'm a little worried about Mendenhall. You'll want to pay close attention to the 1st couple games for these two. If they look too tentative, they'll find the bench pretty quickly.

I really thought that this decision was just a testimate to Pit's run defense. It looked like by having McLain at FB it just added some much needed 'Beef' to try and open some holes for McGahee. They had no problem using McLain to carry the load in the few previous weeks when McGahee was healthy.

Wasn't McClain listed as questionable heading into that game? He obviously played, but I'm pretty sure that he was far from 100%. I wouldn't bank on that game as an indication of what is to come in '09 from the Ravens.

I am a Rice owner, and traded Roy Williams for McGahee. Then I went to acquire McClain and the owner wanted feature back compensation. I couldn't believe it, as I was just trying to cover the bases. I think Rice/McGahee in RBBC with McClain playing FB. My mind will change if Baltimore acquires another FB. Don't anticipiate Lo Neal coming back for another year

sit tight---Willis was banged up eraly last offseason, the McClain experiment went uber-well so they stuck to itMcClain isn't sneaking up on anyone this year---Balt likely drafts another FB and lets Neal walk, starting McClain/McGahee together as FB/TB.....as it should be (and order is restored!)RR gets some nice work as I see "the rotation" down to 2, making both very valuable, IMO---I don't see much of a drop off from what I believe was league leading 592 ru attempts last season
