Realistically I'm thinking more 8-8 but feel they'll steal a game somewhere to get to 9-7. If Ginn can continue to improve, Fasano becomes a key player and the running game holds their own they'll be in most games. I think the D will be steady. I wouldn't mind if they added Matt Jones to their roster.Six games against 2008 playoff teams (four division winners), two others against NE, five others against other teams that finished at or above .500 last season.I'd say 9-7 is far from conservative. More power to you, as that's what being a fan is all about.
I just took another look at the schedule, and I can definitely see 8-8 so why not 9-7. It's still not clear to me how much talent is in Miami. I thought the turnaround last year was remarkable, but I'm still questioning how much of it was smoke and mirrors (i.e., wildcat) and how much of it can be counted on moving forward. Good luck, as that projects to be a tough schedule. I have a lot of friends who are Dolphin fans and they are all class acts and knowledgeable, too.Realistically I'm thinking more 8-8 but feel they'll steal a game somewhere to get to 9-7. Go 'Phins!
I wasn't sure about this so I looked into it. Turns out not be be the case although he's not the head coach so I'm not sure how relavant it is anyway:NYG - 1983 - (3-12)NYG - 1984 - (9-7)NE - 1993 - (5-11)NE - 1994 - (10-6)NYJ - 1997 - (9-7)NYJ - 1998 - (12-4)DAL - 2003 - (10-6)DAL - 2004 - (6-10)MIA - 2008 - (11-5)MIA - 2009 - (???)It'll be awfully tough to top last season's 11-5 record so a second year step back is likely. If they can sneak into the playoffs and maybe win a game that would be great experience moving forward. I do agree that they are a year away still, but you never know!GO DOLPHINS!!!Year 2 of Parcells usually is a step back.
Why would they get crazy, the Wildcat stopped working after 4 weeks last year. Just run the damn ball and play some D with Joey Porter and Jason TaylorArmondo Salguero (Herald) just blogged that Pat White will be running the spread offense today. Ronnie will be the Wildcat triggerman. Sounds like the staff is going to get crazy again this year - should be fun!
The wildcat did not stop working - it just stopped producing huge plays ever time they used it. They still have a solid average using it, and they still kept D-coordinators on their toes and required additional gameplanning every week. That was chapter 1 also, more to come...just watch. Why would they get crazy, the Wildcat stopped working after 4 weeks last year. He looked awesome in preseason. Lets se ehow he looks when it counts. He is big, so he matches up well with the big WRs in the AFC East (Moss/T.O.).Hey you Dolphins homers-- Just how good is Sean Smith now and how good can he become?
Thinking we may have overpaid horribly for Gibril Wilson. Wasnt tackling supposed to be his strength? He got embarrassingly run over twice for TDs. May lose his starting job soon. Maybe the Earnest Wilford of the defense for Parcells and staff?I am still reeling from that loss...Go Phins!
Vincent Jackson is #1 now, or if he's not, it's a 1A and 1B situation.Huge early season game for the Dolphins. Don't want to start off 0-3. They've done a good job of containing the other team's #1 WR. Hopefully they can manage to supply a little help over the middle to contain Gates.
I realize that. I was saying that hopefully they can continue to contain the #1 (Jackson) and somehow provide help over the middle to limit Gates, since the TE position has killed them in the first 2 weeks.Vincent Jackson is #1 now, or if he's not, it's a 1A and 1B situation.Huge early season game for the Dolphins. Sorry if I misread your post. If I remember correctly, the TE has been a problem for a year or two with the Dolphins. It's not just a 2009 thing.I realize that. You do make a great point. They've had a habit of being beaten in the short game for a while now.Sorry if I misread your post. What has you worried about Henne?Obviously thrilled with the victory vs. the Jets but I'm not buying the Henne hype yet, and I'm a Michigan fan. I do like the way they appear to be bringing him along, keeping the pressure off of him but allowing him to make the plays when he needs it most. Cannot wait for the Saints game. If they can manage a victory...
I'm not worried about Henne. I just like to wait for teams to adjust gameplans against rookie QB's before I get too excited. These next three games will go a long way in determining how ready he is.What has you worried about Henne?Obviously thrilled with the victory vs. the Jets but I'm not buying the Henne hype yet, and I'm a Michigan fan.
