Some games will get their own threads, but for the most part this will be a nice place to discuss who / what you see during the Bowl Season for 2009 NFL Draft purposes.

Here's a quick watch list. Not all of these guys are 2009 eligible and this isn't comprehensive, but it's a good starting point if you want to know who to keep an eye on.

Gartrell Johnson from Colorado State might be worth a look, could be next years Tim Hightower.

Oooh not a fun thing to watch. DeAndre Brown, stud Southern Miss receiver went down earlier with a leg injury. It doesn't look good. Its definitely a fracture, the worst I've seen since Patrick Edwards. Very promising receiver, hate to see this happen. Damn.

If anyone wants to check it out, its on youtube.

That was awful to watch. He's probably the 2nd best frosh WR in the country (behind Julio Jones). Hopefully he makes a full recovery.

So - Ian Johnson? NFL Prospect???
I could see him getting drafted around 5th to 6th round, but I would not put him any higher than that. He's a third down back at best. He had a bit of a down year this year. Losing Clady and having an inexperienced OL could be part of the cause, but Avery seemed to do just fine.

So - Ian Johnson? NFL Prospect???
I've been keeping an eye on his numbers since his second season. His numbers dropped tremendously his senior year not sure why.Jeremiah Johnson is the one I'm very interested in, this kids makes plays.

Think Ian Johnsaon is in the range of Mike Hart and Darius walker..late round pick or high end UDFA. will work hard, probably not embarrass a team if they have to hand it to him 20 times a game, but is limited overall when you think of multi-year fantasy or NFL potential.

Wow, GJ had 285 yds rushing.... impressive.
And 2 rush TDs plus a nifty ninety through the air.

[playing devil's advocate]I watched Gartrell make a couple 50+ yards runs only to be caught from behind by MUCH faster Fresno DBs.

Now, Deion Sanders wasn't suited up in red, so I'm pretty concerned about G Johnson's speed.

Might make a good fullback.

 I did a Break Down the Tape on him last season and was pretty underwhelmed. A very hard worker, but very little short area burst and not many moves either. Yet doesn't really have the bulk to move the pile or run people over. Could be a decent 3rd RB for a team in case of injuries and succeed for a short time in that role. But even on a zone blocking team like Houston, I just don't see the quickness necessary. IMO of course.

WR/QB/RB Pat White, West Virginia

RB Noel Devine, West Virginia

WR Hakeem Nicks, North Carolina

For those who havenothing better to do on a saturday afternoon...turn this one on. 21-14 in the 1st quarter.

Pat White showing passing skills with a couple of TD passes. Not sure if it is enough to stop him from being moved but he is relying on his arm oer his movement in this one.

Hakeem Nicks is a thickly built WR who has gotten down field on two huge TD plays. Looks dynamic after the catch and has shown good hands. Way too strong and athletic for West Virgina's DBs. Had only seen one previous game with him, but I am walking away that he at least a NFL 2nd rounder, if not higher.

So Nicks looks like a monster. Which NFL player is a good comparison?First one that come to mind for me is AJ.

Nicks has another TD since the first post where he just ran a quality corner route...Thinking he will not time outstanding, so more Boldin/young HInes Wardish..listed as 6'1 210.

If you have not seen Hakeem Nicks' catch across the middle in the 3rd quarter today - it is a must see. one of the best catches you will ever see.

AJ would run circles around Nicks. Nicks is slow! He has a future in the league because of his size, great hands, and great route running but he can't run like AJ. AJ ran a 4.4 when he came out. Nicks will be in the 4.6 range.

ridiculous catch. Was at the game sitting with some Tar Heel fans and everyone was already starting to yell at Yates about the crappy throw before we realized that he actually caught it. I understand he's not fast, but he's not Mike Williams either.

Speed is a nice plus, but it isn't on the "must have" list of skills. The guy impressed me today.

Agreed. Case in point: Houshmandzadeh.

Jahvid Best (Cal) looked real solid tonight. 186 yards and two TDs. He left the game briefly with a hand injury, and his backup Vereen was ripping off nice runs too, so I'm not sure if Best is that good, or if his performance was a product of good OL and/or bad D, but Best is someone to definitely keep an eye on.

He's probably the most explosive offensive player in the Pac-10. He's the real deal, but questions about size and durability will haunt him. He's small and he has a knack for getting hurt.

Yeah, durability could be a concern. The accouncers at first feared he had reinjured his left elbow. That elbow brace didn't seem to impede him at all though. I could see a team like Cleveland or Cincy drafting him as a committee partner.

I missed the game and haven't seen Nicks play. Aside from being bigger, how much better is he than Davone Bess? It sounds like they're similar players.

Chase Daniel may have hurt his stock in the Alamo, as did Washington.

Maclin didn't seem to help his much, although the punt return was nice.

Coffman did well, not only receiving but also blocking. I don't think he's an elite prospect, but a solid 2nd round pick.

I don't think Daniel is much of an NFL prospect anyway. Isn't Washington only a Sophomore or do I have confused with someone else?Coffman could slip easily if some of the underclassmen TE like James Casey, Jared Cook, Dennis Pitta, and Jermaine Gresham declare

No, you're right. My mistake for confusing him with someone else. Coffman could be a nice sleeper if he slips.

The Spiderman Dillard show begins now on the NFL Network.
I like his pure WR skills, but over have been impressed with the "other" Rice guys also. James Casey looks like a guy who can be Owen Daniels or Chris cooley. Chase Clement does not have the size (6'0" probably), but has shown a legitimate arm and put some things in tight spots. Not thinking he is the next Romo, but might have enough to stick around Billy Volekish.
