2009 Pro Bowl Voting (1 Viewer)

I just voted and I was surprised at the decisions at few positions, particularly at AFC RB and NFC WR.

AFC RB was tough because after Chris Johnson and Thomas Jones it really dried up. I went with MJD because it seemed to be down to him and LT and LT's drop off sealed the deal on that one.

The other tough one was at NFC WR, but for the opposite reason, IMO there are 7 Pro Bowl WR in the NFC:

Boldin

Fitz

TO

Steve Smith

Jennings

Roddy White

CJ

My vote went with Boldin, Fitz, Jennings, and White. IMO Boldin and Fitz are locks and it came down to the other 2 spots. In a tough race, TO was slowed by Romo's injury, CJ by his QB play so they were out. Both are without question dominant players at their position but again this is a highly competitive positon.

So I had to decide between Smith, Jennings, and White. White has been fantastic this year and is very deserving. I'm curious on how many WR's in NFL history have made their first Pro Bowl with a rookie QB throwing them the ball??? It's a testament to not only White but also Ryan.

The decision between Jennings and Smith was very tough because I love Smith's explosive game. But I went with Jennings because he is consistantly terrific in every aspect of the game, he makes the tough catches in traffic, can take one to the house after the catch, and has a good feel on the deep ball. While I would be surprised if Jennings makes it over Smith, TO, or CJ because of their name recognition, IMO he is most deserving.

I'm curious to get more viewpoints on these positions and others in the balloting.

LT shouldn't be within sniffing distance of the Pro Bowl. I think Jones and Johnson are shoo-ins and maybe even Slaton deserves the third spot due to a lack of top notch guys there. Going into the season, with guys like LT, LJ, McGahee and Parker there, who would have thought that two rookies and a seemingly washed-up back in Jones would get the nods.

As for NFC WR, Boldin and Fitz easily at the top 2, and I'd go with Roddy and Jennings at the other two spots, with Calvin just missing. Smith and Owens have been good, but not great IMO.

Slaton should easily be the 3rd RB in the AFC.

Tough picking just four of those NFC WRs. I would immediately eliminate Owens, as he hasn't had that great of a year (he was struggling even before Romo's injury). The Arz WRs should both be in, and then I would probably take Jennings and White, although leaving Calvin out sucks for him, as he has been a monster on a horrible team. Steve Smith has been very good, but not great, and not as great as the others.

In other words, zamboni pretty much had it right.
