2010 Dynasty Rankings- QB (1 Viewer)

I think Jason Campbell at 34 is too low. He is listed behind several guys who are past their prime, several unproven players and vick who isn't even a starting caliber QB. I think his value is going to jump this offseason. I only see about 3 scenarios playing out with him. He A) gets brought back to be the starting QB for the Skins. B) Gets picked up in Free agency by a team needing a starting QB or a QB competition. Cleveland, Carolina, Arizona, STL, Buffalo, Oakland, Seattle. (several of these options would increase his value) or C) Skins resign him and draft a QB early. This is obviously the worse option, but I don't see the Skins shelling out money to FA QB, just to draft one in the first round or two. Campbell was a high end #2 QB this year. Finished 14th in my league...so the whole 34 ranking seems out of place to me.
Vick is much more likely to end up a starter, and do well, next season, than Campbell.

First off Great post. I did have a few opinions to add. I thought it was interesting you put Cutler and Ryan both above Big Ben who just put up an outstanding season. Was age a factor?Kinda word about the Golden Boy T-Brady, he looked dismal at points this season.
With Ben, age was a small factor, but I view Ben as an inconsistent fantasy option. He has finished as a top 10 QB twice in his career. I think Pitt became more of a passing team this year out of necessity. If Mendy becomes a more reliable runner, they could easily go back to being a run first team. Don't get me wrong, I still like Roethlisberger, I just like Cutler more.
I can see ranking Ben at 10 if you like, and the argument that he has been top ten only twice and that Pitt likes to run if possible is reasonable. However, his age really can't be a factor when you look at the age of so many guys above him. He isn't old for a QB at all.And Cutler ahead of him? That's horrible. Here's the problem with Cutler: if he has another year like this one he could well be out of a starting job, along with his HC. Yes, the Bears wasted alot on him, but you can't play as badly as he did much of last year and keep a starting job in the NFL for long. THAT is a huge risk for anyone paying top ten value to own Cutler.
Thanks for the response APCutler is just a guy I have always been a big fan of. I might be riding that train until it crashes, but I am still a believer.

I can respect that. I feel the same about some players. And I will confess that before this year I felt the same about Cutler. Something definitely was not right with the guy's mind though, so coaches need to figure out how to help him get his confidence back. It can happen.

Good list.

I think I like Mark Sanchez a little more than you. I would put him above Flacco and Stafford. Depending on my team's roster, I might also prefer him to McNabb. It will probably take him a couple years to reach his full FF potential, but he showed all of the poise/confidence/accuracy/arm strength/maturity that you look for in an elite pro QB. I like his chances of developing into an Aaron Rodgers type of player eventually. Whether or not he can put up elite stats will depend on how often he throws.

Good list. I think Henne showed alot more promise as a first year starter than he is getting credit for, including some 300 yard games. I think he should be above any rookie and ahead of a few others.

I truly believe once the Giants pick up a #1 WR next to Smith, and Hicks, Manning will put up 4000+ and 25+ each year. Thats atleast top 10 material. Hes on my draft board.

Getting rid of Plastic Bird#### was the best thing for Manning. He spread it around a lot more when he didn't rely on that clown and had his best year with a 3rd yr, 2nd yr and rookie WR.

I can't believe that Clausen is 23. He came out as a junior. Apparently he was 19 when he left HS?

EDIT: According to Wiki he started KG at 6 and repeated the sixth grade. That explains his age. I really though he was two years younger.
Huge red flag. I'd drop him a few more spots.

Does Jim Zorn going to BAL as QB coach help or hurt Flacco?
I think it helps. For all of Zorn's issues as a head coach, when he's working with QB's he's always been successful. He's gotten some good play from Charlie Batch in Detroit (wasn't that the last time the Lions made it to the playoffs?) and some 6th round Hasselbeck guy in Seattle. No, not the one married to the hot blonde. Believe it or not, Campbell actually did show signs of improvement last year as well. I think if Flacco is willing to listen, he'll learn something from Zorn.

It has nothing to do with his intelligence if that is what you are implying. His age is one of the reasons I thought he was overrated coming out of HS (hard to compare a 19 year old playing against 17 year olds) but I think his college production pretty much negates all those concerns. It is not like he is John Beck.

I agree here, Baby Manning just put up 27 TDs and 4,000 yards. Jeter has 2 guys ranked ahead of him (McNabb and Palmer) that are highly unlikely to reach those thresholds again. Palmer barely hit 3000 yards, and McNabb has never topped 4,000. And how confident can you be that Bradford ever reaches those kind of numbers, without knowing who his coach is or how he translates to the speed of the NFL?

Any thoughts on what impact adding a receiver like Brandon Marshall could have on some of these QB's?

What would that do to Flacco's rating?

Henne?

others?

Not sure what other possible places he might end up at, but I would have to think he would boost any QB's ranking considerably.

From your list, here are my main disagreements: 1. IMO, you have Romo and Schaub just about reversed from where I think they should be.

2. You really think Palmer merits that high of a ranking at 30 yrs old and the way he looked this year?? I'd swap Matt Moore for his place on your list in a heartbeat.

3. Based on talent, I think Nate Davis is way too low on your list. And NOBODY should be ranked below JaMarcus Russell.

4. Neither Pike not Tebow would make my top 40 QBs if I had to include rookies (of course I have the advantage of reviewing their week at the Senior Bowl) - which is why I did not include 2010 rookies at this early stage in the process.

5. A 33 yr old washed-up Marc Bulger would not even make my one year rental list.

For a comparison, here was my QB list (that I contributed about a month ago to a different site) It was 30 names, before Warner retired.

Special Possible One Year Rentals

29. Brett Favre, Vikings | Age: 40.11

Warner was listed with Favre as a possible one year rental before he retired. Also, I did not include 2010 rookies. Since I put together lists for all four skill positions (200 players total), I appreciate the effort you put into yours. And while I realize that no two dynasty owners would ever totally agree on any position ranking list, I'll stick with my version.

:goodposting: :goodposting: ;) :) Just for those who missed it on the first page ;) I agree, 34 is far too low for Campbell. You have him behind back ups (Vick, Leinart, Kolb), rookies (McCoy, Tebow??), and washed up QBs (Hasselbeck, Bulger). Then guys like VY, Quinn, Alex Smith... all who have not shown any reason for me to believe they are any better than Campbell. Not to mention Russell ranked at 35, Campbell is light years ahead of this guy.He has constantly improved in a continuously changing offensive system. I agree he is not a top tier QB, and its highly likely he will never be... but he is an average NFL QB, and average QB's are starters in the NFL. I would rank him closer to 20th on the list. He was one of the few bright spots on that Redskins offense, and put up respectable numbers with a injury riddled oline protecting him.It remains to be seen what his future has in store for him, but he'll be starting, if not in Washington, somewhere.

Flacco gets a bump in QB rankings. Q brings a confidence boost and is very similar threat to Mason but more likely to take a short gainer and break it. Mason remains a sure handed short to intermediate route runner as does Heap. Rice and McGahee keeps defenses honest, but Ravens still need deep threat...maybe Demetrius Williams or Clayton finally take next step since both Q and Mason will pose match up problems underneath.

Why do you have Sage Rosenfels ranked higher then T-Jack?Jackson beat him out for the backup position behind Favre this season and there was never much debate. Rosenfels never saw the field. Also, Jackson is 5 years younger.
Tjax is a restricted free agent this yr while Sage is undercontract for I think 3 more years?Either way, it will be open competiton if Favre doesnt return. I would bet he comes back for 1 more yr personally.
Was he the backup, or simply on the game-day active list for a few special packages/plays, much like Vick was often "active" while Kolb was the emergency QB for Philly?
