RBs: Mike Bell

Ronnie Brown

Kevin Faulk

Quinton Ganther

Jerome Harrison

Leron McClain

Norwood

FWP

Jason Snelling

Sproles

Chester Taylor

Leon Washington

Lendale White

Pierre Thomas

Leonard Weaver

Depending on CBA agreement some of these will not be eligible if a deal is not made by February. Some are RFA, others UFA currently. Looks like a good crop of RBs.

How is that a good crop?

Its a bunch of role players, a guy coming off a major leg injury for the 2nd time in the last 3 years, and Pierre Thomas.

Not sure what you are expecting, but not AP/CJ2/Turner types, but there are some solid rb's with some upside in there for sure.

Bell: Role playerBrown: I think it makes sense for him to resign with Miami--he runs that Wildcat better than anyone and I don't think he can be a guy who gets the vall 20-25 times a game--so the time share with Ricky works out well for everyone. If he wants too much money though he will walk, but it will be a mistake for him. A 28 year old back coming off an injury just isn't going to command that much money.Ganther: strikes me as a role player who might be signed as a second back for RBBCHarrison: I suspect he stays with Cleveland and they would be crazy to let him walk. He should be restricted FA.McClain: I see him staying and McGahee being released. He will get more carries as the primary backup to Rice but still won't be a fantasy starter unless Rice gets hurt.Norwood: role playerFWP: guy needs to retireSnelling: Role playerSproles: Role playerTaylor: He can start for the right team, probably with someone else in a RBBC. Not sure why your saying "role player" like it's a bad thing. Every team needs them and some of those "role players" will fill some "roles" needed by teams next season. I wouldn't mind the Jets signing a guy like Sproles to fill the void that Leon Washington left. He's still pretty young and is a difference maker from anywhere on the field, same with Norwood, Harrison. Just because their not bell cow tailbacks doesn't make them worthless.

RBs:

Mike Bell: Role player. I could see Pierre and Bell staying and possibly Bush leaving at some point?

Ronnie Brown:Just to good and that stupid Wild Cat formation(I dont particularly like it) for Miami to let him walk? And Ricky is up there in age. He will resign.

Kevin Faulk: Too old to sign on with another team. Him and Bellecheck(sp) will ride there careers out in NE.

Quinton Ganther: Role player. Good injury filler Back? Nothing more.

Jerome Harrison: Very much like Leon Washington. So I would say he still needs that #1 RB on the team to help out. But he'd be in the Leon/Sproles rankings for me.

Leron McClain: I can see him staying put with McGahee leaving?

Norwood:3rd down RB. Injury prone now as a 3rd down RB, so couldnt see as an every down RB?

FWP: IMHO I think FWP should stay in Pitt and be the 3rd down RB? Take over for Mewelde? FWP and Mendenhall as the 2 RBs for Pitt? But, he does only have a couple years left in the tank.

Jason Snelling: Would be best for Snelling to stay in Atl where he would see some backup duties behind Turner and the fragile Norwood?

Sproles: Up there with Harrison and Sproles as mentioned already. Could see Sproles try to take on that lead role when LT leaves? But not sure he could handle 300 + carries?

Chester Taylor: His years are running out to find a starting gig IMO? Maybe still could if he lands somewhere this season? But his time is running out as a starter?

Leon Washington: See Sproles/Harrison. Also depends on how he returns after injury?

Lendale White: I could see White as a starter in the NFL with a Harrison/Sproles/Leon as the speedster. He was REALLY good last year when given the chance. CJ just is SO GOOD that he never sees the field.

Pierre Thomas: See Bell above.

Leonard Weaver: Role player. And that is all.

I thought Caddy was a FA as well?

*eta* - he is. The Bucs should resign him since he has proven he can stay healthy, and is the best RB on the roster right now.

To me a role player is a guy who may be important and valuable in real football, but their fantasy value is limited because you can't count on them to get enough carries or touches to be consistent in fantasy.

Of the group I like Harrison the best. He is more than a role player IMO. Leon Washington is next - I like his skill set as well. Be interesting to see if these guys re-sign.

I think there could be a couple of pretty big name players that are released this offseason. McGahee has a good chance at being cut, and I wouldn't be surprised if Marion Barber is released. Thomas Jones may not even be back with the Jets if they sign Washington and feel comfortable with Greene.

I'm not sure why you would still put Harrison in the "can't carry the load" category. Of the 24 RBs you mentioned above, only LT and Ricky have ever carried the ball at least 34 time in a game and only Ricky has ever hit 30+ in back to back games. Other than Harrison, of course. To me, the number of carries (rather than the yards) make him a more promising prospect next year.

Isn't this all contingent on the status of the CBA?
Yes. At least a great deal of it certainly is.Associated Press

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d8...mp;confirm=true

WASHINGTON -- Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin, Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall and six other Pro Bowl picks are among more than 200 NFL players who would lose their status as unrestricted free agents this offseason if the league and its union can't agree on a new labor contract.

According to a list obtained by The Associated Press on Wednesday, there are 212 players who would be considered restricted free agents -- instead of unrestricted -- if there is no salary cap in 2010. There is at least one player from each of the NFL's 32 teams on the list.

In an uncapped year, a player would need at least six years in the NFL, up from the current minimum of four years in the league, to be an unrestricted free agent able to sign with any team.

Pro Bowl players who could find themselves missing out on a chance to cash in this offseason are Green Bay Packers safety Nick Collins, New England Patriots guard Logan Mankins, New Orleans Saints guard Jahri Evans and Philadelphia Eagles fullback Leonard Weaver.

In addition to the NFL's sacks leader (Dumervil) and the NFC's leader in receiving yards (Austin), other prominent names on the list include San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman, New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards, Indianapolis Colts safety Antoine Bethea, Miami Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown and Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski.

A restricted free agent's old team has a chance to offer the player a one-year contract at different levels of pay which determine what level of draft-choice compensation the old club would receive for losing the player. And the old team has the right to match any offer another club makes to a restricted free agent.

Other rule changes would go into effect if there is no salary cap in 2010. There would be no minimum or maximum amounts that teams could spend on payroll, and each club would have an extra "transition player" tag. A "transition player" must be offered a minimum of the average of the top 10 salaries of the prior season at the player's position or 120 percent of the player's previous year's salary, whichever is greater.

REALLY good? Sorry but no, he fills a role fairly well and he'll certainly land somewhere but while he'll serve that role he's not a complete back. I do agree though, pair him with Sproles or Spiller and you're in business. He might remain a Titan for another year although I like Ringer a little more.

Pierre Thomas is a restricted free agent no matter what happens with a new CBA. He's not going anywhere except back to the Saints.

The biggest splash for FA maybe if there are some high dollar unperformers who get dropped because of the uncapped year. Willis MaGahee maybe an example.

:goodposting: He could benefit more than any other RB this offseason from changes made around though. Between Bell being a FA and Bush being a possible cut(which I'm under the impression the an uncapped year would make easier) Thomas could become a legit RB1.
