2011 FBG Post Season Contest (1 Viewer)

I really love these contests! Great challenge and test of FF strategy/knowledge/skill but also a great way to give me a genuine rooting interest in a playoff game I would watch regardless (because its football) but now I actually care if Shonn Greene scores a TD and if the Jets win, etc. Great icing on my Fooball Cake! Thanks FBGs!!!

I revised to give myself a few more superbowl points at the expense of weeks 1 and 2.

Week 1 129

Week2 168

Week 3 167

Superbowl 145
Better check your calcs or roster. That 21 ppg per player in week 3. Can't imagine you getting that type of production and still having the cap space to hang 145 the next week.

I have no flipping clue how to fill this out.
I think I have a pretty good strategy but will have to get lucky with the right teams advancing.
Yeah, you're not only picking the best players, but indirectly picking teams too.
The part that is killing me is the 2x edged sword built into the contest. Ie you can only win ultimately by having players in the superbowl. However to qualify you have to do well enough in a round where all the top 4 teams (ie the likliest to make it to the SB) are on bye and will get you 0's.

Have no idea what I'm doing, but this is my team:

QB - Drew Brees - NO - $34

QB - Ben Roethlisberger - PIT - $28

RB - Danny Woodhead - NE - $14

RB - Donald Brown - IND - $9

RB - Willis McGahee - BAL - $8

RB - John Kuhn - GB - $6

WR - Roddy White - ATL - $23

WR - Derrick Mason - BAL - $15

WR - Deion Branch - NE - $15

WR - Jason Avant - PHI - $9

WR - Blair White - IND - $9

WR - Devery Henderson - NO - $8

WR - Jordy Nelson - GB - $8

WR - Jerricho Cotchery - NYJ - $7

WR - Devin Aromashodu - CHI - $2

TE - Tony Gonzalez - ATL - $15

TE - Heath Miller - PIT - $11

TE - Greg Olsen - CHI - $9

PK - Ryan Succop - KC - $7

TD - New York Jets - NYJ - $7

TD - Kansas City Chiefs - KC - $6

Decided to not have any Seahawks players on my roster and two players from each of the other teams, other than Philly, where I only chose one player.

You play to win the game. 9 players in super bowl...at least 3 QBs until the SB. Spend a little to make it through round 1, but just enough to barely survive...

Anything can happen......except for that roster winning any money in this contest.

I had to go back & reread the rules after reading through this thread. I thought I read it wrong the 1st time but I have confirmed I had not

Going with a Black & Gold SB. Hoping I have enough early round points to get me there. Will get points from 12 positions in week 1, 10 in week 2, and 10 in the SB if my projections work out.

QB - Drew Brees - NO - $34

QB - Ben Roethlisberger - PIT - $28

RB - Rashard Mendenhall - PIT - $18

RB - Reggie Bush - NO - $11

RB - Shonn Greene - NYJ - $11

RB - Willis McGahee - BAL - $8

RB - John Kuhn - GB - $6

WR - Mike Wallace - PIT - $22

WR - DeSean Jackson - PHI - $18

WR - Santonio Holmes - NYJ - $13

WR - Jason Avant - PHI - $9

WR - Devery Henderson - NO - $8

WR - Emmanuel Sanders - PIT - $7

WR - Ben Obomanu - SEA - $5

WR - Ruvell Martin - SEA - $4

TE - Jimmy Graham - NO - $12

TE - Heath Miller - PIT - $11

TE - Donald Lee - GB - $3

TD - Pittsburgh Steelers - PIT - $14

TD - Baltimore Ravens - BAL - $8

Initially went with a NE/ATL Superbowl lineup, but it was too risky of getting cut week 1. So I chose the two most likely Week 1 teams to make it to the Superbowl, which in my mind was Philadelphia and Indianapolis. I believe the NE/ATL matchup is more likely, but for any chance to win this contest, I felt I had to go with the second matchup. Here's my team: I can't wait to see the ownership stats and projections:

QB - M Vick - PHI - 34

QB - P Manning - IND - 26

QB - J Flacco - BAL - 23

RB - L McCoy - PHI - 22

RB - M Turner - ATL - 18

RB - B Green-Ellis - NE - 17

RB - P Thomas - NO - 16

RB - R Bush - NO - 11

RB - D Rhodes - IND - 8

WR - D Jackson - PHI - 18

WR - P Garcon - IND - 15

WR - B White - IND - 9

PK - A Vinatieri - IND - 13

PK - D Akers - PHI - 12

DEF - Ravens - BAL - 8

15 players, 250 spent. Done.

No Jets, no Seahawks. We'll see.

QB - Drew Brees - NO - $34

QB - Tom Brady - NE - $34

QB - Aaron Rodgers - GB - $29

QB - Peyton Manning - IND - $26

RB - Ray Rice - BAL - $20

RB - Rashard Mendenhall - PIT - $18

RB - Jamaal Charles - KC - $16

RB - Reggie Bush - NO - $11

WR - Blair White - IND - $9

WR - Emmanuel Sanders - PIT - $7

WR - Harry Douglas - ATL - $4

WR - Julian Edelman - NE - $2

WR - Riley Cooper - PHI - $2

Would need a GB/NE Superbowl for this to have any shot, but even if that happened I'd probably not have a realistic chance (without Rodgers). Set so many different lineups, who knows if any of them were actually good. Just wanted a good mix to avoid getting bounced in the first round and hopefully stay alive until week 3 just for fun.

Eagles/Jets Super Bowl. I just think alot of people are against these teams right now and they have a good chance come playoff time to run the table. I think I will be around 110 points week one hoping that gets me over the cut.

QB - Drew Brees - NO - $34

QB - Aaron Rodgers - GB - $29

I took the "survive 2 rounds, I'm not gonna win anything anyway" approach. I took all of about 15 minutes to put it together. You guys that spend hours and hours just kill me. The guy who will win this whole thing will do so because of fluky players coming up big that no one would dream of counting on.

Rolling the dice (aren't we all?) on a BAL/PHI SB which gives me both uniqueness and all players playing in P1. Lean & Mean with 9 players in P1 and the potential for 8 in P2, 8 in P3 and 8 in P4. QB & RB heavy with no K or DEF/ST. Here we go:

QB - Michael Vick - PHI - $34

QB - Drew Brees - NO - $34

QB - Peyton Manning - IND - $26

QB - Joe Flacco - BAL - $23

RB - LeSean McCoy - PHI - $22

RB - Ray Rice - BAL - $20

RB - Joseph Addai - IND - $16

RB - Reggie Bush - NO - $11

WR - Jeremy Maclin - PHI - $19

WR - Derrick Mason - BAL - $15

WR - Brad Smith - NYJ - $3

TE - Todd Heap - BAL - $15

TE - Brent Celek - PHI - $12

It all has to go perfectly but you never know...

Good luck to all!

:lock:

This may be off by a handful, but at first glance it looks like we have 6910 entries. That includes the staff, so the number of relevant entries should be just south of 6900.

I'll have a meaningful update of some sort (hopefully a sim too) sometime before tomorrow's games.

Ugh. Forgot about this. Had way too many things going on this week.

Did set one lineup Tuesday but have no clue who I picked. Think I'll wait a couple weeks to look and see is on my roster and whether I'm still ticking. Can't do anything about it now.

a) Becuase it's fun.b) Why even waste 15 min if you aren't playing to win.

 I had Carlson in until the last minute switch to Moeaki.

I'm otherwise in for a Green Bay / New England SB (save for enough WC games to hopefully make it past that cut). Pretty sure that won't happen but also pretty sure few would go that route.

Looked like the $ to pt ratio favored kickers and QBs again. I don't understand why anyone would have drafted any from Seattle and not had Hasselbeck. Even Carlson was a risk since the points flow thru the QB.

Made some last minute changes and came up with....

QB - Michael Vick - 34

QB - Ben Roethlisberger - 28

QB - Joe Flacco - 23

QB - Mark Sanchez - 16

QB - Matt Hasselbeck - 8

RB - LeSean McCoy - 22

WR - Harry Douglas - 4

TE - Jeremy Shockey - 13

PK - Shaun Suisham - 14

PK - David Akers - 12

Going with a Pitt/Philly final with 10 of 17 from those two teams. Will be relying on Hasselbeck/Flacco/Sanchez plus the best on Philly to get me thru this week. Need Flacco and Sanchez to survive this week otherwise things won't look good next week.

Currently sitting at 28 points for the week mid-way thru 2Q in the first game.

Shocking that the entries are down about 20%. What's up with that?Didn't count on that and it will hurt me in wk2.

24 and counting from Hasselbeck. I'm feeling pretty good about wk 1 right now. It wouldn't even hurt my feelings if they won and I had him for another week at the expense of losing Bush/Shockey.
